ons huisie

amid all the modern beach front properties lies ons huisie an amazing, quaint little restaurant run out of a historical building right on the beach. they have something to offer for everyone but one of my favourites and an amazing choice whether vegetarian or not is the uncollected mail – grilled vegetables and feta wrapped in phyllo pastry with basil pesto, it really is an experience! spending an afternoon here in good company watching the sea will recharge the soul for sure!

a popular beachfront restaurant at sunset as well as throughout the day on the weekend, i would recommend you book a table to secure a spot. tables can only be booked inside and outside tables are first come, first served. this eatery is quite family friendly with a play area for the under 10's and the menu stretches from pasta to steak and seafood. portions are generous but unfortunately not mind blowing. desserts aren't worth writing home about but the scenery makes up for it!

was recommended by colleagues to go to ons huisie on my trip to cape town. one things great is the location - especially if your not a local. to get to sit basically right on the beach is always a treat.

ons huisie is very traditional and offers some great south african favourites as well some more authentic capetonian dishes. took a canadian colleague with me which was a great experience for her.

cape town is known for its good food and amazing restaurants - i wouldn't say that they have the best food if your looking for a gastronomical experience but their food is delicious and well priced - a nice relaxed spot on the beach. wouldn't necessarily recommend to tourists in general but rather say bring a foreigner there.

must have is their seafood potjie... their dessert selection was minimal and the desserts that we tried weren't great at all.

always a good place for breakfast on the week ends

i have never had a bad experience here - the food is fantastic, and the waitrons are like family! plus, being right next to the ocean is a massive bonus!

great food, amazing views and really affordable. make sure to book if it's a sunny weekend.

beautiful, white, traditional cape style house. ons huisie is heavenly.

weather permitting, sit outside and enjoy the view of the atlantic. but i love the old photos displayed on the walls inside.

generous portions of traditional capetonian food.

don't leave without getting a photo on the stunning beach with a view of the ocean and table mountain in the background.
