wonderful view with thefoodand service to match. staff are very friendly and on the ball. perfect place for the entire family, four legged members includes.
thefoodportions are way bigger than expected; not the best presentation, but perfect for casual dining.

i'd definitely recommend ons huisie if you're looking for a reliably great place to go grab some chow and catch up with your favourite people.

have been here a couple of times, from breakfast, lunch to dinner. outside view is amazing and for the cold winter times inside seating is cozy. foodis warm comfortfoodand if you like seafood, the fish and chips is the dish of the day. calamari is delicious and thefoodis average prices! i'll call this place "food with a view"!

we chose this place for mother's day because of the view, since it was packed we assumed thefoodmust be good, as my memory serves 6 years ago it was terrible - surprise nothing has changed! i ordered the line fish, it made me sick, it was fishy and pungent when i specifically asked if it was "fishy" e.g like snook or like hake/salmon/dorado. the rest of the table ordered hake, calamari and burgers. the chips were inedible for everyone, cold and stale-like. the hake's fried were somewhat edible (could get better at a fishery), the calamari was good, the burgers were below average and my line fish with lemon mash was by far the worst and most expensive dish. i felt very sick after eating half, not wanting to make a scene i took a takeaway for the dogs including the watery vegetables and yellow rice. thisfoodis disgusting and our table's bill was r2500+ for a big table. totally not worth it. i thought the experience was awful.

what a supremely underwhelming experience. cool venue and location, but if thefoodisn't good then don't bother to serve it, or tell me that the dish is unavailable. i got yesterday's overcooked, dry bobotie. the bay leaves were so dry i thought it might have been shell fish initially. the only dish reaching palatable status at our table was the hake and chips. never again!

beautiful location on the beach but sat in the back both times i was there so not so fun. some equipment issue meant half the menu was not available during one of my visits.foodwas good-ish. always packed though so i am sure i was just unlucky.

one word that comes to mind when describing this place is.... humble. nice spot right on the beach, you will want to sit outside. i wouldn't say thefoodis a knock out. just consistent and nice. my favorite thing to eat here are the mussels. if you want a nice spot with nicefoodand nice venue, then worth a try

overall i love ons huise, and it's really upsetting that such a lovely place with a menu full of potential can be so mediocre. we have had some really nice meals here, but also some that are underwhelming, one being this past week. after ordering the calamari (something we have enjoyed before) we ended up with what looked like calamari steaks cut up, sprinkled with herbs and lacking any sort of sauce (yoh, it was dry). the two platters other diners at our table ordered were deep fried (we did not know if there was an option to have anything grilled instead) and oily, making it hard to eat the whole meal as there was just so much batter on everything. 

on a positive note, the venue is one of my favourites (with a cracking view), the staff are some of the friendliest around and their cocktails are so darn delicious it's hard to stick to having just one. 

on other occasions when we have visited we have tried the likes of the chicken and mushroom pie, their good ol' bobotie, their mussle pot and a few other things. all of which were nice and served in large portions. i just feel very underwhelmed when eating here and i feel like overall thefoodcould be a little better.

2.5 really, solely for the view and waiter. saturday morning breakfast. it's so calming to sit here and take in the view.
unfortunately thefoodwas not good. i had the open sandwich of bacon and eggs on toast with hollandaise sauce. the eggs were burnt and bacon undercooked. and it was very cold, as if it was forgotten about.

bf had mince with eggs on toast. it was a lot of mince but tasteless. his eggs also burnt wasfoodlukewarm.

quite disappointing

the waiters are unprofessional and the service is the worst ever they will certainly never see me again. can't say how's thefoodbecause after almost an hour we didn't eat anything. on the 1ste of september 2018 we went back to ons huisie what a bad experience. we order the rump steak and thefoodwas cold and the steak under done. we send it back and will see how it will turns out. but they will surely never ever see me again and will certainly tell everyone

they were very accommodating and supper friendly. thefoodwas underwhelming but still very tasty nonetheless. definitely recommend ons huisie for a meal with a beautiful sunset view over the beach.

my family and i visited ons huisie twice in the last few months. we received great service and thefoodwas delicious!! i ordered the "small bay" (see photo). we did not have to wait long forfoodor drinks. it is now officially my favourite seafood spot in cape town. we made reservations at both occasions as we visited on sundays. they are quite busy over weekends but still has amazing service and food! highly recommended=)

this is a must!! its a whole different vibe from the other restaurants close by... however it is lovely. the staff is very friendly right from the walk in. service is great, and thefoodis great. we had the basic fish and calamari. perfectly prepared and fresh.

my girlfriend and i visited ons huisie twice during our vacation and can honestly say this is one of the best places to have some traditional seafoodin cape town, can't wait to go back.

lovely place! and one of my favorite locations as its close to the beach.foodwas amazing, staff friendly and super helpful. views outstanding. we went for breakfast and had the bacon and banna french toast and it was so so lekker. definitely a favorite.
