wonderfulviewwith the food and service to match. staff are very friendly and on the ball. perfect place for the entire family, four legged members includes.
the food portions are way bigger than expected; not the best presentation, but perfect for casual dining.
the food screams with flavour and freshness.
i'd definitely recommend ons huisie if you're looking for a reliably great place to go grab some chow and catch up with your favourite people.

have been here a couple of times, from breakfast, lunch to dinner. outsideviewis amazing and for the cold winter times inside seating is cozy. food is warm comfort food and if you like seafood, the fish and chips is the dish of the day. calamari is delicious and the food is average prices! i'll call this place "food with a view"!

what a shame that a place with so much potential serves such mediocre food. you pay for theviewand that's pretty much all you get. we order prawns and calamari and the only reason i give them two stars is because the calamari was ok. the prawns were inedible, they smelled and tasted like freezer. the side of veg was overcooked and covered in a buttery sauce and the rice overcooked and dry. all things considered, the best thing on our table was the sparkling water.
if you want drinks with a view, this is your spot, if you want tasty food, avoid.

i just had breakfast at one huisie. i had the mushroom and tomato omelette. quite tasty. no complaints. very good service too.viewis also quite awesome.

2.5 really, solely for theviewand waiter. saturday morning breakfast. it's so calming to sit here and take in the view.
unfortunately the food was not good. i had the open sandwich of bacon and eggs on toast with hollandaise sauce. the eggs were burnt and bacon undercooked. and it was very cold, as if it was forgotten about.

bf had mince with eggs on toast. it was a lot of mince but tasteless. his eggs also burnt was food lukewarm.

quite disappointing

they were very accommodating and supper friendly. the food was underwhelming but still very tasty nonetheless. definitely recommend ons huisie for a meal with a beautiful sunsetviewover the beach.

great lunch, easy and accommodating! food was yum and delicious and staff very friendly! easy and relaxing atmosphere and great space to eat after a surf! if you enjoy the wind you can sit outside and see the seaview🌊 i'll be back!

ons huisie has a greatviewand location. it has a lovely heritage linked to its site which makes it a worthwhile spot to visit, the food portions are big, they are well presented but the food itself is a bit disappointing and not quite to my tastebuds.

had a lovely, long lunch here. theviewof the sea makes the whole experience so much better. being from gauteng i opted for a traditional west coast (weskus) dish, oven baked snoek with sweet potato cakes. the sweet potato was great, but the snoek could've been better (flat on the flavour). the waiters were very laidback but helpful. altogether a afternoon well spent!

you go there for the atmosphere, the kids' area, the very kind service. less for the creamy potjie with mix of sea foods. the fish n' chips is good although fries are undercooked.
i would advise this with family friends with kids willing to have a nice breeze andviewon the sea (avoid the inside areas).

i'm so keen to go back to 'ons huisie'. its a really popular place and they are always buzzing.

of course its in the best spot... you have theviewof the ocean and you can smell and feel the sea breeze.

i went there for a breakfast, a very good time to go and the meal was delicious. service is great!

going for a stroll along the beach after your meal rounds it off nicely :)

no no no, avoid avoid. at least don't go there for dinner. perhaps this is a better little lunch spot instead. the setting is incredible and theviewis amazing, and although the service is pretty decent, the dining experience is sabotaging this beautiful restaurant.

i went with my mother and a friend and here's a summary of what we had:

starters:
mussel starter - burnt (definitely not "smoked" as the menu suggests).
fish cakes - really not tasty, dry, made with questionable ingredients and served with shop-bought sauces.
calamari starter - decent.

mains
fish & chips - light, crispy batter but zero flavour. fish needed a lot of seasoning. factory chips, not hand cut. no lemon wedges on the plate. overall just average.

prawns - terrible presentation. everything slapped down on a plate. the prawns were okay - edible but not wow. served next to dry, stale rice and served with really horrible chunky vegetables. compared to almost every other seafood restaurant this meal is well below average.

chicken pie - the actual pie was fair but the salad was wilted and warm. woolworths pies are nicer.

overall everything just tasted bland and incredibly average. perhaps i have high standards, but to me it's a pity when such a lovely spot gets it so wrong. absolutely nothing here is made with care and attention. not good value for money either.

i get the sense that they use shortcuts. expect a lot of processed, shop-bought ingredients for sauces, dressings and sides (like a restaurant chain would do), instead of serving beautifully crafted hand made things. its a travesty.

management did apologise profusely after i complained, and then offered us stale carrot cake for free. it's hilarious.

love this place. fresh calamari and fish with aviewto die for! if you love seafood this is the place to be. oh and the wine selection is not bad either!

although we haven't been here that much, they do have an amazingviewof the sea - if the weather allows you to sit outside and enjoy it, like in summer. we enjoyed their pizza, but from what i heard their seafood is good as well. when in the area we won't mind going here for drinks though, and some snacks.

i have been to this resturant before in late 2014 but i'm afraid it's not quite the same. they for some reason no longer have a drinks menu but offer to make you any cocktail you desire. i ordered fish and chips while my partner went for the farm rump steak. the fish was fresh and perfectly crisp and my friends steak was just made to his requirements. however, i had only one complaint - the chips were under cooked but when we mentioned this to the manager mike, he immediately offered a fresh basket of well made chips. i have to also note what a friendly gentleman he is, he was visable throughout the night talking to guest and went as far as to say he welcomes all critism so he will able to take the information and turn it into a much better resturant.

the cream of this entire experience for me was myviewof the ocean and sunset - the fireplace was an additional bonus for the winter blues.
