wonderful view with the food andserviceto match. staff are very friendly and on the ball. perfect place for the entire family, four legged members includes.
the food portions are way bigger than expected; not the best presentation, but perfect for casual dining.
the food screams with flavour and freshness.
i'd definitely recommend ons huisie if you're looking for a reliably great place to go grab some chow and catch up with your favourite people.

ons huisie is fast becoming my local. great location and view, especially when the weather is good. theserviceis fast and efficient, which is how i like it. their coffee is great and breakfast good. my only issue would be the quality of the bacon, could be better. the lunch and dinner menu will have something to satisfy all tastes. of course seafood is outstanding! i tried the chicken pie last night and that was really great too. this is honest fare. keep it up guys.

what a perfect spot on the beach. pitty that the waiters slowserviceis not up to scratch. fish and chips brilliant priced and taste. combo much smaller size and dissapointing. although the taste is brilliant. instead order full portion fish and chips and starter calamari. better value.

hake, calamari and chips tasted good, even the tartar sauce. a bit too oily, but everything was deep fried as advertised. the hake missed a salt flavor you get from fresh fish. overall everything tasted good.
i think the value of the meal was a bit over priced.

it was a lovely day, i would recommend this restaurant for a chilled sunday lunch.

parking was limited. we had to walk a bit to the restaurant.

i just had breakfast at one huisie. i had the mushroom and tomato omelette. quite tasty. no complaints. very goodservicetoo. view is also quite awesome.

the waiters are unprofessional and theserviceis the worst ever they will certainly never see me again. can't say how's the food because after almost an hour we didn't eat anything. on the 1ste of september 2018 we went back to ons huisie what a bad experience. we order the rump steak and the food was cold and the steak under done. we send it back and will see how it will turns out. but they will surely never ever see me again and will certainly tell everyone

average and a bit too touristy for me. overpriced, too. the menu is very minimalistic, which is okay - sometimes too many options distract from the experience. i would revisit for a cold beer, only because the ocean makes for a pretty back drop. overall, not awful but definitely not mind-blowingly amazing.servicewas great!!

my family and i visited ons huisie twice in the last few months. we received greatserviceand the food was delicious!! i ordered the "small bay" (see photo). we did not have to wait long for food or drinks. it is now officially my favourite seafood spot in cape town. we made reservations at both occasions as we visited on sundays. they are quite busy over weekends but still has amazingserviceand food! highly recommended=)

this is a must!! its a whole different vibe from the other restaurants close by... however it is lovely. the staff is very friendly right from the walk in.serviceis great, and the food is great. we had the basic fish and calamari. perfectly prepared and fresh.

lovely setting and well priced. we were family of 6 and unfortunately half the food really wasn’t that great. the burger had a cold overcooked patty. the fishcakes lacked salt. the mussels stated as having a tomato cream sauce, was more cream than anything else and disappointing. the koeksister was so so, was more doughy and lacked that crunch one gets when biting into them. the fish and chips was great, and so was the phyllo vegetarian parcels. linefish was yellowtail and cooked well, but the mash wasn’t my liking.servicewas slow but to be expected as peak season. i’ve been here for breakfast before and far prefer the quality we got then than at today’s lunch.

just had another huge omelette here, best omelette i have had for a long time. the staff were very friendly andservicewas great. i will definitely be back for more.

service was poor and food not great. beautiful scenery but food preparation needs serious attention. servicewas unorganized and overall not a great experience. pity as the location is very special.

i have been coming here for 6 years and have never had a bad experience. food is always on point,serviceis impeccable and always friendly. they are so welcoming and make you feel like you are apart of their family. big thumbs up to mike who is there everyday making it one of the best places to eat at!

have been going here for about 12 or so years, and have always enjoyed the very comfy homely vibe of the place.
the food is so typical beach bar food and the potion sizes are more than enough to ensure satisfaction.
theserviceis usually great however since the renovations and expansions it appears that on a busy december afternoon they are a bit short staffed to keep up with the amount of people.
very lovely to sit and enjoy a nice lunch while your kids play on the beach or part of a very exciting bar crawl along to big bay.

for valentine day my bf booked at ons huisie as it's right by the beach, you can have a drink and watch the sun set, etc.

upon arrival we took a seat outside as we wanted to have a drink first and watch the sunset,servicewas good to start off with. we moved inside and we were seated at a little awkward table right by the kitchen and a window facing an ice cream machine where during the course of the night one of the ladies was standing picking her nose, obviously not realizing the customers can see her.

we ordered a starter and this arrived quite quickly. the oysters were just served on a plate of greens, not on ice. the calamari starter was chewy, but portion size was big enough for a starter.

as the starter was not the best, i opted to order the rump steak which i requested to be well done. now i know this is frowned upon, but when my food arrived it was still bloody... not close to well done. i politely asked the waiter to please ask them to put it on for another 2 minutes.

by the time my food arrived 15minutes later my partners food was done and he now awkwardly had to wait for me. hading ordered the rump steak himself he only received chips with his meal and not the vegetable parcel as per the menu. when he enquired about this the waiter just shook his head and walked to the kitchen, returning with a side plate of the food which they forgot to plate.

when i eventually started eating, my chips were under done, my steak then tasted like dishwashing liquid. i didn't have much of my food and i couldn't stomach the meal. we left shortly after, paid the bill and still honored the 10% tip.

advise to management, don't only engage with your customers when you seat them. come check how they are doing during the course of their meal. don't stand in the kitchen area shouting at your staff when your customers can see and hear you. don't allow your staff to throw tantrums when they are having a disagreement with their colleagues and don't allow your waiters to pick and choose which tables they would like to serve!
