this visit i was pleasantly surprised - good service, good food, speedy delivery.

previously this restaurant has been painfully slow with bad service. i've even endured a kitchen shutdown while the chef threw his toys for over an hour.

with the beach front view and dog - friendly, if they can keep up the service, i'll be back more often.

baby sitting 2 kids under 4 is hard work when you need to find somewhere to eat and keep them entertained. so google brought up this restaurant - view of the sea for my dad visiting from jhb, and a playground with child minder for the kids! winner we thought! arrive to a full car park and less hopeful for a table but as the sun started peaking through the clouds we got a table in the non-smoking section (right next to the smoking tables but a tiny bit closer to the kids play area. as we go to the jungle gym - there's a sign up that says 'no child minder on duty'. bummer! next we try get our food order in - simple menu, kitchen should be pumping the food out! we got old fashioned over cooked sweet vegetables, soggy chips, over cooked dry snoek, less than crispy fish and calamari steak strips as the 'grilled calamari' after at least 45mins. the fish fingers for the kids were deep fried, oily and limp and took as long as the other food! the view and friendly front of house staff would get a 4 - the kitchen a 1!

very nice little place right on the beach of blouberg strand. friendly service & relaxed atmosphere as restaurant becomes busy from 11h30.breakfast menu which is up until 12h00 is a nice. will be back at some stage to sample the lunch menu.

old school seaside tea room serving good solid and very affordable fare. can be windswept if seated on picnic tables outside. suggest booking to be seated inside if outdoor dining is not your thing. gets busy on weekends and service levels can reflect that busy environment. service as one would expect: 2.5 out of 5.

love this place! nothing better than a basket full of snacks, a savannah and that view! have never had a bad meal there. breakfast, pizza, fish - it's all good!!

i think our experience would have been completely different if it was not for the wind, the restaurant was amazing but it was so packed that we had to sit outside and for a joburg girl that's really tiny it was not much fun!

the food was delicious and the service was really good, but overall my experience at ons huisie was really nice and so true to the cape, wind and all! i would love to go back in the near future and really spend some quality time there with more family members and friends.

thoroughly enjoyed breakfast here. great food at a decent price and even a lovely view. service was excellent! i will definitely come back again!

i just love this little place! right on the beach so the views are legit and then once you walk inside, this place screams of history and nostalgia. prices are reasonable and the staff are always pleasant! whenever i'm in ct for an extended stay, i always try come through here. my personal favorite is the venison poitjie!

really impressed with this precious little restaurant. i knew that it has been around for a very long time, and i understand why it remains a favourite. the homely interior is cosy. there is a sense of privacy in each room that make up the 'huisie'. our group was a large table of about 12 people. no one had complaints about the food. nice vairiety on the menu. i was especially impressed with the dessert selection.

great spot by the beach, busy but situated in a quiet corner of a quaint cottage. food was lovely, service was good. great spot for summer outdoor but also very cosy indoor in winter.

great spot to do lunch or an early dinner. the view is breathtaking and the food is great. service isn't fantastic but the venue makes up for it. great family restaurant as they have a fantastic play area for the kids

extremely tasty and extremely large portions. well cared for by the waiter. well worth the visit. wonderfull location and a lot of history.

love it! when the weathers nice... there is nothing better than sitting outside and having coffee and a good egg and bacon brekkie here. very chilled with a stunning view of the sea

they offer a nice variety of food as well as a nice view.

wear a warm jacket if you plan on sitting outside, especially during april till august.

we had dinner here which was not as good as it was a few years ago.. still the same quaint house and cosy decor but service was quite slow and the lamb bredie was nice but veggies were overcooked ..
