wonderful view with the food and service to match. staff are very friendly and on the ball. perfectplacefor the entire family, four legged members includes.
the food portions are way bigger than expected; not the best presentation, but perfect for casual dining.
the food screams with flavour and freshness.
i'd definitely recommend ons huisie if you're looking for a reliably greatplaceto go grab some chow and catch up with your favourite people.

have been here a couple of times, from breakfast, lunch to dinner. outside view is amazing and for the cold winter times inside seating is cozy. food is warm comfort food and if you like seafood, the fish and chips is the dish of the day. calamari is delicious and the food is average prices! i'll call thisplace"food with a view"!

we chose thisplacefor mother's day because of the view, since it was packed we assumed the food must be good, as my memory serves 6 years ago it was terrible - surprise nothing has changed! i ordered the line fish, it made me sick, it was fishy and pungent when i specifically asked if it was "fishy" e.g like snook or like hake/salmon/dorado. the rest of the table ordered hake, calamari and burgers. the chips were inedible for everyone, cold and stale-like. the hake's fried were somewhat edible (could get better at a fishery), the calamari was good, the burgers were below average and my line fish with lemon mash was by far the worst and most expensive dish. i felt very sick after eating half, not wanting to make a scene i took a takeaway for the dogs including the watery vegetables and yellow rice. this food is disgusting and our table's bill was r2500+ for a big table. totally not worth it. i thought the experience was awful.

popped in for a quick burger on a friday lunch..placewas quiet,service was fine..mushroom burger with a slice of cheese was ok...a bit dry & grizzly...they used a good quality mushroom but flavour disappointed the poor beautifully grown muchrooms... it's my 2nd lunch in as many weeks..think i will stick to their breakfasts &good coffee

one word that comes to mind when describing thisplaceis.... humble. nice spot right on the beach, you will want to sit outside. i wouldn't say the food is a knock out. just consistent and nice. my favorite thing to eat here are the mussels. if you want a nice spot with nice food and nice venue, then worth a try

what a shame that aplacewith so much potential serves such mediocre food. you pay for the view and that's pretty much all you get. we order prawns and calamari and the only reason i give them two stars is because the calamari was ok. the prawns were inedible, they smelled and tasted like freezer. the side of veg was overcooked and covered in a buttery sauce and the rice overcooked and dry. all things considered, the best thing on our table was the sparkling water.
if you want drinks with a view, this is your spot, if you want tasty food, avoid.

overall i love ons huise, and it's really upsetting that such a lovelyplacewith a menu full of potential can be so mediocre. we have had some really nice meals here, but also some that are underwhelming, one being this past week. after ordering the calamari (something we have enjoyed before) we ended up with what looked like calamari steaks cut up, sprinkled with herbs and lacking any sort of sauce (yoh, it was dry). the two platters other diners at our table ordered were deep fried (we did not know if there was an option to have anything grilled instead) and oily, making it hard to eat the whole meal as there was just so much batter on everything. 

on a positive note, the venue is one of my favourites (with a cracking view), the staff are some of the friendliest around and their cocktails are so darn delicious it's hard to stick to having just one. 

on other occasions when we have visited we have tried the likes of the chicken and mushroom pie, their good ol' bobotie, their mussle pot and a few other things. all of which were nice and served in large portions. i just feel very underwhelmed when eating here and i feel like overall the food could be a little better.

been here twice now, very picturesque setting awesome smell of the ocean and breezy so bring a jersey. i ordered the small bay (crumbed calamari and fish goujons) was really great calamari was tasty crispy and not rubbery the fish was very nicely done tender and moist. friendly staff and you will not find aplacewith better value for money.

i wish i could give thisplaceless than 1. we waited for 39 minutes and called 4 waiters before someone walked by and said we will be with you very shortly. then i asked to talk to sewan the manager, waited another 20 minutes and still no drink order or any order were taken. asked to talk with owner, sewan told us it was out of his jurisdiction, totally laughable if it was not so pathetic. we decided to rather leave and will now have to break one of our traditions to go there. no more! feels like owner thinks his or herplacedoes not need patrons any more. very disappointing.

this venue is very beautiful and the service is friendly. the portions are huge - my mom and i shared the hake and calamari combo and the photo is of my half of the portion! the hake was really really good but the calamari could have been crispier. my brother really enjoyed his nachos. i had a chai latte which unfortunately wasn't great but the venue and atmosphere makes thisplacegreat and i'll definitely return.

for a dog-friendly restaurant you can head down to ons huisie for a delicious breakfast or lunch with a doggie fountain to make your four-legged dog feel right at home.

thisplaceis popular and the menu showcases a variety of local meals from bobotie, snoek and potjiekos to cape bread pudding and souskluitjies.

the small bay basket was delicious and tasty with crumbed prawns, deep fried calamari, smoked snoek samoosas. the hake and calamari combo was fresh and the batter crisp and enjoyable. both dishes are served with chips and tartar sauce.

ons huisie in is an old fishing cottage and is the perfectplaceto enjoy a delicious west coast meal in a fitting restaurant filled with lots of heritage and history from the surrounding area.

i'm so keen to go back to 'ons huisie'. its a really popularplaceand they are always buzzing.

of course its in the best spot... you have the view of the ocean and you can smell and feel the sea breeze.

i went there for a breakfast, a very good time to go and the meal was delicious. service is great!

going for a stroll along the beach after your meal rounds it off nicely :)

such a nice quaint littleplacewith so much character and style. we had a lovely lunch which was unexpectingly such a huge portion. the food is good, the staff are nice and whether sitting inside or outside the people are friendly and the restaurant is always busy. aplacemost definitely needed to try.

ons huisie always brings back childhood memories of playing on the beach, drinking milkshakes and having a good time. since i live walking distance from this cute little beachside restaurant, it's always been a popular choice for a quick lunch with friends or sundowners on a windless evening.

i've never had a disappointing experience. in fact, i'm quite surprised by the quality of their cocktails, as they don't strike me as being the go-toplacefor those sort of drinks. however, i like their cocktails much more than blue peter's. and the vibe on the patio is just so relaxing - totally laid back and carefree. but the service is still on par - i've never had to wait too long for my order. recently, me and my better half went for sundowners on a beautiful spring evening, watching the sun set over the beautiful atlantic while sipping on a long island ice tea and a strawberry daiquiri. we weren't that hungry, so we ordered the woppertal snack basket, which consisted of fries, samosas, vegetable spring rolls, potato bites and beef rissoles. served with sweet chili and chili mayo dipping sauces, this made for the perfect basket of snacks to munch on while enjoying our drinks.

on another occasion, i was coming home late and got myself takeaways from ons huisie, since it was so close by. i ordered the line fish, which was dorado on this particular day. i don't usually like dorado because of its meaty taste and thick fillet, but this time round i was very impressed. i absolutely loved the herb crust and crispy skin, perfectly complimented by some of the best herbed mash i've ever had (and i'm not a big fan of mash). moreover, the vegetables were delicious - cooked to perfection, sweet and tasty.

the only thing left for me to experience is their legendary breakfast! and i will definitely be returning to experience this!

this restaurant is truly a hidden gem. if you're ever looking for a consistently good qualityplaceto go enjoy the blouberg beachfront, ons huisie is theplaceto go!

top tips: arrive early for dinner to enjoy sundowners and avoid crowds. make a booking if you plan to have breakfast there on a sunday as they're usually packed! you can still come an enjoy sundowners on cold winter nights - they've recently built another "stoep" inside with a fireplace, a bar and live sport screening.

this is a small quaint littleplacewith a huge heart. here you have to have seafood as it is freshly prepared and tastes great! service was good and the warm ambient setting makes it a good stop. when the weather is fine, get a table outside and enjoy the view.
