musashi number 1. we went to this wonderful japanese restaurant last friday and as usual, it was fully packed. we recommend you try on weekdays (less customers).

we ordered 1x large (i mean large) sashimi combination platter and it was enough for 5 of us. musashi now has this new special sashimi platter on a wooden boat for about $90 (i can't remember the exact price but close to this) and it was big for all of us (yes, 5 boys). sashimi was very fresh and others (i do not even know their names) were also excellent. staffs were very friendly and the price was well within our means.

we have read some of other negative comments, but we have found this restaurant to be a very good place to have your japanese cuisines. we recommend this place very highly. good on ya musashi. you beauty!!!

what people have said about the long line is definitely true. we came here on a friday night arriving at around 6:30pm and the wait was about an hour. luckily we were not hungry yet and had plenty of distraction. the food was fresh but not wow and i personally don't think it's worth the wait.

we had a sushi platter called the king and i which had 6 nigiri, two pieces each of salmon, tuna and cooked prawn, then 4 pieces of sushi. the fish was fresh and rice was good. we got an item from the daily special - the otoro hand roll. the meat was melt in your mouth but for these price i was expecting a little more. we also had the fisherman soup which was miso based and had some salmon, tofu, mussel, clam and seaweed. i felt this dish at $10 was very overpriced and for a few dollars more i could get a delicious bowl of noodle soup elsewhere that was a complete meal.

overall the sushi was not bad but being on the pricey side and considering the hour wait, i didn't feel i'd come back again.

i had lunch here several times. it was first dinner with my family.

i found parasite eggs in my nigiri sushi.
asked to kitchen, answer was it's part of skin. it's edible. but it was on topside and underneath, both side of the fish.

also due to some reasons i know what it is

parasite roe.

service and other foods were ok.
tuna in tekka maki(tuna mini maki) was oxidized a bit, but comparing with price, it's ok.
just a piece of nigiri ruined my family dinner.

heard a lot about this place being a go to restaurant for people around the area. had their platter and was very pleased with the portion sizes and friendly price point. usually a bit of a wait for this place cause of how popular it is but worth it if your craving some seafood!

would recommend calling up and booking a table beforehand if they had that option, we arrived without a booking and there was already a huge line outside, we had to put our name on the list and waited about an hour.
we ordered sea urchin, chefs special sashimi, chicken teriyaki, scampi nigiri & the king crab sushi rolls. we had an amazing experience, apart from waiting outside for so long, food came to the table extremely quick and customer service was exceptional.
their sashimi was so fresh and every dish very well presented.

lost us at soggy softshell crab. used to be one of our favourite japanese restaurant in sydney. used to have fantastic food that was worth every min of wait. but the last 2 times we went it was just not up to par anymore. food was terrible - the softshell crab we loved was soggy, unagi tasted funky and sushi / sashimi was not fresh. we thought we came on a bad night the first time but the 2nd visit confirmed that something is amiss in the kitchen. our friend went a couple of weeks later and came out with the same bad taste in their mouths. apparently they have changed owners. disappointing and we won't be going back anymore.

had their sashimi and tempura lunch set, sashimi was fresh and really tasty. service was a little slow, but given they were really busy (as they usually are) they still maintained their cheerfulness and were very attentive.

a very popular eatery in the heart of sydney cbd. to get a table there, you will either need to call and make a reservation, otherwise the next best way is you can do a walk-in by arriving early at the restaurant before they open at 5:45pm, write your name on the clipboard list, take a number and wait for your number to be called.

i ordered the king & i sushi, a side of vegetable tempura and a kirin beer to wash it all down. the food quality is really high and very tasty. i would definitely come back again and try the other menu items.

it can be a little pricey but it's worth the price you pay in my opinion.

great value bento boxes at lunchtime. the prices rise at dinnertime and it is bit expensive.the lunch menu is definitely better value. however, the quality of the food is always very high no matter when you go in to eat!

the sashimi is one of the freshest that i have eaten in sydney. and this comes from someone who doesn't really like sashimi! when i do crave it (very rarely), i want to eat at masuya suisan!

price was ok for the menu (i think this is $29), however i feel that their quality has decreased over the year. the sashimi was not fresh although the cut is ok. the rice isn't good quality and taste more like the kind of japanese rice in a $13 bento. the worst thing was the tempura. i do not expect amazing tempura at this price, but the vegetables were oily and you can see how much oil came out from them on the plate. the prawn was very poor quality and taste weird. tempura should be at least crispy but the batter was soggy. the sweet potato slice and the pumpkin were undercooked. i tolerated the sashimi but i couldn't even try to finish the tempura. very disappointed as the menu is pretty good and it used to be a nice place. with this kind of quality, i don't know how do they justify serving full blood wagyu on the $90 menu) as they would most definitely ruin the meat.
