musashi number 1. we went to this wonderful japanese restaurant last friday and as usual, it was fully packed. we recommend you try on weekdays (less customers).

we ordered 1x large (i mean large) sashimi combination platter and it was enough for 5 of us. musashi now has this new special sashimi platter on a wooden boat for about $90 (i can't remember the exact price but close to this) and it was big for all of us (yes, 5 boys). sashimi was very fresh and others (i do not even know their names) were also excellent. staffs were very friendly and the price was well within our means.

we have read some of other negative comments, but we have found this restaurant to be a verygoodplace to have your japanese cuisines. we recommend this place very highly.goodon ya musashi. you beauty!!!

price was ok for the menu (i think this is $29), however i feel that their quality has decreased over the year. the sashimi was not fresh although the cut is ok. the rice isn'tgoodquality and taste more like the kind of japanese rice in a $13 bento. the worst thing was the tempura. i do not expect amazing tempura at this price, but the vegetables were oily and you can see how much oil came out from them on the plate. the prawn was very poor quality and taste weird. tempura should be at least crispy but the batter was soggy. the sweet potato slice and the pumpkin were undercooked. i tolerated the sashimi but i couldn't even try to finish the tempura. very disappointed as the menu is prettygoodand it used to be a nice place. with this kind of quality, i don't know how do they justify serving full blood wagyu on the $90 menu) as they would most definitely ruin the meat.

the food wasgoodbut the manager there was so mean. there were heavy rain and strong wind outside. we just wanted to have something hot to warm ourselves up. however, the staff let us sit just next to the door though there were seats inside simply because the seats are for 4 people. it was 1:30 which the restaurant was about to close and customers were leaving. 😢😢😢
eventually, we just left the restaurant after finishing the meal immediately coz it was really cold to sit next to the door. i will not go to this restaurant again.

this place always has a queue but we reckon it's worth it. the sashimi is super fresh and you tend to want to order more. the yakuniku isgoodalthough the portion is quite small but definitely tasty. perfect for a quick meal or to gather with family for a long relaxing dinner

this was my first time to masuya but i think i might have found my favorite japanese restaurant in the city!

we ordered quite a bit as a group but i can’t complain about any of the dishes.

i really enjoyed the karaage chicken and the agedashi tofu. the chicken was just so yummy and the tofu definitely worth a try!

the sashimi platter was delicious and all the seafood were very fresh.

and lastly the hotpot! this is by far the best japanese hotpot i’ve ever had! the wagyu beef was so tender and delicious that keeps making me to want to go back.

overall, quality food, friendly staff and service combined with agoodenvironment is a place that i’ll definitely go back to.

the sashimi wasgoodbut not amazing. it’s pretty expensive for the amount of sashimi you get - i expected the sashimi platter to have more variety and quantities. the swordfish sashimi was very enjoyable - i love how they grilled the skin so there was a nice blend of smokey flavours.

the chicken katsu served in a huge portion. it's a bit salty so it isgoodto go with rice!

this place was super crowded when we got here and i contemplated whether or not we should wait. took a chance and decided to wait approximately 30minutes for a seat. reading reviews here before i got in, i started getting cold feet hearing all the negative reviews about this joint.

the service was pretty good, staff were very polite even though it was very busy. the food also came out really quick. all our dishes came rolling out together after 15minutes. overall, the food was ok - it wasn’t mindblowingly great but was decent enough to eat and not complain. price wise, i thought it was pretty affordable. the only thing which was super expensive was the rump steak. we ordered the usual:
- agedeshi tofu: this was ok - given i just had a reallygoodagedeshi tofu the other day this one didn’t hit the mark. however, it was still ok compared to what i’ve had in the past.
- chargrilled rump: really nicely made, this was great! sauces complemented the meat too.
- semi dried squid: this was alsogood- not too dry and had agoodlevel of moisture.
- nasu dengaku: this was huge! i really miss traditional nasu dengaku... this one was ok, i wish it had some shallots on top though, it would’ve tasted much better. overall though, it was more on the traditional side to what i’ve seen lately in stores so it sort of gave me some nostalgia.
- steamed veggies: this was pretty plain and simple. had nothing much to say about this. would probably not get this again though (was trying to be healthy). it was super plain and the yuzu soy sauce didn’t really taste nice with it.
- spicy karage chicken: this was ok - i liked how crispy it came out and it actually had a tinge of spicyness to it. however, it didn’t taste like actual japanese karage and had too much batter on it.
- spicy salmon aburi: this was ok. very different to what i’m used to but still tasted pretty yummy.

overall, although it’s not the most authentic japanese you can get it hits close compared to some of the other joints in the city. the service was good, food came out quick and everything was pretty well priced (~10-~15 per dish except for the rump). i’d definitely come back here to try their hotpot... was looking around and saw heaps of people ordering this - it looked delicious!

the service wasgoodbut unfortunately the food which we ordered was a bit of let down. the spider roll which was indicated as one of the popular dishes however was not to the standard i expected. the rice was too soft and the soft shell crab wasn't very crispy and slightly dry. i like  that the tempura wasn't oily though. we yoloed and ordered a special of the day called something like emperor sushi which was a pricy $19.80 for 4 pieces. it was alright tasting but not amazing. we also ordered aburi sushi which was at a standard quality. many people ordered the sukiyaki which smelt amazing. may visit again to try the sukiyaki and lunch sets

authentic japanese restaurant that hasgoodquality sashimi, fresh sushi and tasty wagyu. japanese themed interior with polite japanese waitresses.

first time trying the wagyu sukiyaki and it was definately worth it. enjoyed the experience of cooking and dipping the meat in raw egg. it was flavoursome from the sukiyaki sauce and meat. not surprised as to why they don't accept bookings and how the place gets really busy. the service was quick and very attentive. the blue fin tuna was my first time trying it and it just melts in your mouth.

overall, i would definately recommend this place and would come back to try the other dishes.

lovely restaurant! will definitely visit again.
for the night it was packed with people. the three of us ordered a sashimi main and a beef hot pot. their sashimi was really fresh and delightful to start the meal with. as for the hot pot, soy milk base turned out to be loaded with flavours of the ingredients. highly recommend trying the base although the hot pot itself didn’t differentiate too much from others.
limited range of dessert turned up down a bit, but overallgoodportion and quality of food, great dining experience.

had the sashimi deluxe and wagyu sukiyaki. sashimi just ok but no scampi also the cut a bit rough. not too bad for $30. waitress who delivered the plate didn't know what fish for the dish though so from here i dint expect anything for the service. the sukiyaki is better. they used blackmore wagyu marble 9+. portion'sgoodwith a veggie plate, udon, miso soup and egg yolk dipping at the side. beef very tender however the flavour of the meat itself not very strong.goodbalance to eat with the yolk dipping to give the beef richer taste. overall not a bad experience at masuya.

really enjoyed my experience with masuya suisse. i went there for lunch with my friend. their set lunches are about $19-25 per set varied between the hero of the set. a regular lunch set comes with a small agedashi tofu, a small green salad and miso soup. we've tried their sushi and the sashimi rice bowl sets. both are very nice and fresh! the waitress was very helpful and polite. bring back somegoodmemories in japan.
