haven't been here in a long time. came back with s couple of mates. we ordered everything from sushi chicken terayaki. everything was average but we ordered the chicken katsu and it was nothing as we expected. please don't order that. overall, the food here has a good balance of sushi and sashimi.

food is alright…but the staff service is awful.
i know there are people waiting, but staffs tried to remove everything (when we haven't finished!!!).
they made me have my dinner really rush although it is my birthday dinner.

didn't have a booking so was directed to an outdoor table which wasn't stable. i was impressed with the large menu they had, variety was definitely there. i was having dinner at the time but i noticed they had great bento lunch deals only available for lunch time. on this particular night we were served by a string of "trainee" staff. they were friendly but clueless and at some point tried dumping food on our table which was not ordered. food was tasty and sashimi salmon was very fresh. wait time was low despite a pretty packed house. i endeavour to return and try lunch menus and also a seat inside with no wobbly table!

i had been there for having a lunch today, we have to wait for table water almost 20 minutes and wait for the food about half an hour. after i had finished my meal i was asked for some more water but one of your the staff walking pass to me then i had asked and she did like put her hand up to stop me and then walking passed without saying anything and not come back seem like very busy at the moment. i really understand the situation that you guys were so busy but you should say something not just like doing that, i'm so furious at that time and eventually i didn't get water as well!!!

located a couple of doors up from the capitol theatre, and about halfway between central station and world square shopping centre, this place is always teeming with people, surely a good sign. luckily, masuya also offers takeaway which is one way to bypass the queue. had the sashimi combo and chicken karaage, both of which were very yum.

the small male human, cobalt and i were off to get ramen with my partner. i notice this place on the way and decided to try it out. we ordered three different bento, one japanese lemonade, kirin and a glass of wine for me. the total came to around $66. it was all pretty good food, fresh sashimi, well done tempura, great californian rolls. i ordered the sushi, wagu beef set with miso and a salad. i really would like to come back soon for a leisurely dinner. i was very impressed.

we have discovered that cobalt loves salmon sashimi. he is a japanese breed so it must be his ancestral diet. we know it is. japanese chin's used to have their own chefs when owned by the japanese royal family.

amazing food. my boyfriend and i came here for a quick dinner before watching aladdin. we had salmon sashimi, vege tempura (not pictured) and wagyu sukiyaki. the sashimi was very fresh. the most amazing dish was hands-down the sukiyaki - quite possibly the best sukiyaki i've had in sydney. highly recommend and would definitely go back.

$230 for 2 for all the dishes plus 3 glasses of sake and 3 glasses of plum wine

masuya suisan/sushi of masuya provides a vast array of options, with flavours that are bound to impress any sushi enthusiast. i would recommend the spider roll (my favourite). get the sushi main platter of the day if you're feeling adventurous - but be warned, there's wasabi on everything. definitely make a booking if you aren't prepared to wait. we were a little neglected in the outside sitting area, but that was almost unavoidable at peak time. overall, great, fresh sushi for when you're feeling a little fancier!

good sushi's been hard to find since coming back from tokyo. i'm all for the dodgy sushi rolls and take away joints, but sometimes you just need something better and tastier. masuya suisan aka sushi of masuya is definitely up there and may well be our new go-to joint!

okay, i'm a sucker for karaage chicken. i suck, but i can't help it and yes, it was tasty. i wasn't really into the agedashi tofu. nice, but totally not what i thought it'd taste like. forever tainted by the agedashi tofu i had in tokyo.

also order the yuzu green tea because i love yuzu anything? i'd always been a fan, but the trip to tokyo really tipped me over the edge to obsession and oh lord.

the otoro nigiri looks so stingy; in fact, it fell apart when i went to pick it up. it still tasted damn fine though. also, that is some of the freshest uni i've had in sydney.

my first review gave to this the most bad service japanese restaurant. after 30 mins wait, the male manager told us we had a share table. the table had 8 seats and there were already 3 people on the table. we have 3 people , so we sit on the other side. the manager came to us and very rudely told us, i quoted" i told you this is a shared table, you should sit next to other three people. if you don't happy with the share table, you should wait outside again!" excuse me??? what the hell is the attitude??? like an instruction to his customers. i will never visit this restaurant again!

new name: masuya suisan. i had the lunch special: it is simply excellent -- and excellent value. very rare to find in sydney. i have lived in japan so i am attuned to the details both of flavour and atmosphere. they get it right for a good price. an exquisitely balanced meal of sashimi, grilled salmon, tofu, tempura, miso and a few surprises including a little dessert of matcha ice cream, red bean and fruit. very filling, well balanced and well presented.

service is never going to be as good as japan, but that's not saying anything original : )

the sushi is to die for- too good!
the food is all fresh, especially the seafood :)
be early to avoid long queue :)
i also love the environment of the place and the service is wonderful. although there were many guests they coped well in handling a full house
it was only a tuesday evening and it was fully packed by 7pm.
