amazing!. as a regular japanese dinner in sydney cbd i have tried just about them all. following new management at musashi i thought id give it a go (i wasnt overly impressed prior). to my surprise the food was probably the best japanese ive eaten! fresh, healthy, big servings, so much flavour. i phoned ahead with special dietry requirements and they bent over backwards to accomodate me. made dishes off the menu for me and i didnt even need to order! cant fault the food or the staff. ill be a regular here from now on.

after renovations, the menu has changed to being very simple, limited choices and expensive. it no longer serves the fresh delicious seafood, does not have sushi or sashimi and limited lunch box sets. was extremely disappointed.

i've walked past this restaurant many times if not hundreds when i was working close to there and it was not until a few months back that i finally stepped foot into this restaurant for my best friends birthday. it serves authentic japanese at relatively decent prices. the interior is modern and decorated nicely. the staff greet you with the usual japanese chant as you walk to your seats. the japanese are so friendly and it makes you feel welcomed. their menu has a lot of sushi, sashimi and salmon dishes but they also offer a variety of other japanese dishes. i've read and heard that their seafood is very fresh and you should try it if you like your raw seafood. i'm not a fan of sushi and raw foods but my friends thoroughly enjoyed it. the 'spicy soft shell crab ($12.00)' was cooked tempera style with a light and crispy coating. had that hint of spiciness which was delicious. it was served over a bed of mashed potatoes. i've never seen it served this way i

overall this place is delicious! but their lunch menu is a lot smaller than their dinner menu, so if you're going with a bunch of friends and want a lot of variety dinner is the better time. as it's located on pitt st near central station, it gets packed very early so get in their early! they open at 11:30 and a queue starts to form at around 12:15-ish.

at musashi with mr.hea before our show: the sashimi main plate, spicy soft shell crab, bbq octopus and salmon and tuna rice onigiris, washed down with the musashi blue lychee mocktail.

musashi dining bar is a special type of japanese restaurant called izakaya. wikipedia defined izakaya as ‘japanese drinking establishment for after-work drinking’. historically, izakaya paid more attention to its assortments of drinks. however, musashi also developed a nice range of platters that can actually be enjoyed on its own.

lovely dinner. had dinner with my melbourne friends last night & we ordered: agedashi tofu, sashimi, softshell crab, steamed chicken salad, nabeyaki udon, wagyu yakiniku and chicken wine teriyaki. all foods came out pretty fast and the waiters are always there, ready for you.

overall i had an enjoyable experience at musashi. the food was delicious and was at a reasonable price. the service was polite despite the dinner rush and the waiters and waitresses rushed off their feet the entire time we were there.

there was so much food in this bento box… the sister absolutely loved the entire bento box and she honestly didn’t really want to share with us… however, the father and i got to steal some to try. i especially loved the deep fried prawn and the ball of mashed potato! the prawn was crunchy and not dripping with oil and the mashed potato was very creamy ;) the father loved the sashmi and commented that it was nice and fresh.

so far we've been here 10 min and watched about 10 tables walk in at 830pm. service has been good but no chawamushi is very strange for a japanese restaurant. but all is forgiven the minute the food arrived. we ordered the main sashimi which was both fresh and well portioned/plated. the oten hotpot was also a treat and made life easy for us by leaving the skewers in the oten. the price is extremely cheap for their standard of food. if i had to nitpic it would be the staff been over busy and often neglecting customs with prams who can not open the front door. this is close to heart as we are in the situation often. overall highly recommend this to people who wants good food fair service and gooooood food at good price.

great lunch selection at a very reasonable price. the service was good and the food was well prepared.

good value lunch sets. musashi offers largely lunch sets only during the day which are very similar to its' sister restaurant, miso's offerings up the road except that they include sushi and nilgiri at musashi. all the sets are good value. i ordered the sushi nilgiri set which came with 9 pieces (5 nilgiri, 2 rolls and 2 boats), salad and miso for $14.90. my friend ordered the stir-fried basil chicken one that came with mashed potato on the side, 3 slices of sashimi, rice and miso for the same price. we walked away contentedly full!

i can't recommend this bento box highly enough. you get your sushi, sashimi, fried stuff - and all for an absolute bargain! it's also fun deciding which section you want to eat first...or you can dip and choose between them!

average. having been here the first time, i expected much according to the name (incidently i just finished reading the famous book "musashi") ... but was a bit disappointed.
the place looks very nice, the service was excellent. i ordered the musashi bento (what else would i order?) ... and, well, it was quite a good portion but nothing in it being very special. the sushi itself was not really done very excellent and all the other stuff was good .. but not outstanding.
in all .. a nice place but a bit overrated on this page ...
