musashi number 1. we went to this wonderful japanese restaurant last friday and as usual, it was fully packed. we recommend you try on weekdays (less customers).

we ordered 1x large (i mean large)sashimicombination platter and it was enough for 5 of us. musashi now has this new specialsashimiplatter on a wooden boat for about $90 (i can't remember the exact price but close to this) and it was big for all of us (yes, 5 boys).sashimiwas very fresh and others (i do not even know their names) were also excellent. staffs were very friendly and the price was well within our means.

we have read some of other negative comments, but we have found this restaurant to be a very good place to have your japanese cuisines. we recommend this place very highly. good on ya musashi. you beauty!!!

would recommend calling up and booking a table beforehand if they had that option, we arrived without a booking and there was already a huge line outside, we had to put our name on the list and waited about an hour.
we ordered sea urchin, chefs special sashimi, chicken teriyaki, scampi nigiri & the king crab sushi rolls. we had an amazing experience, apart from waiting outside for so long, food came to the table extremely quick and customer service was exceptional.
theirsashimiwas so fresh and every dish very well presented.

lost us at soggy softshell crab. used to be one of our favourite japanese restaurant in sydney. used to have fantastic food that was worth every min of wait. but the last 2 times we went it was just not up to par anymore. food was terrible - the softshell crab we loved was soggy, unagi tasted funky and sushi /sashimiwas not fresh. we thought we came on a bad night the first time but the 2nd visit confirmed that something is amiss in the kitchen. our friend went a couple of weeks later and came out with the same bad taste in their mouths. apparently they have changed owners. disappointing and we won't be going back anymore.

great value bento boxes at lunchtime. the prices rise at dinnertime and it is bit expensive.the lunch menu is definitely better value. however, the quality of the food is always very high no matter when you go in to eat!

thesashimiis one of the freshest that i have eaten in sydney. and this comes from someone who doesn't really like sashimi! when i do crave it (very rarely), i want to eat at masuya suisan!

price was ok for the menu (i think this is $29), however i feel that their quality has decreased over the year. thesashimiwas not fresh although the cut is ok. the rice isn't good quality and taste more like the kind of japanese rice in a $13 bento. the worst thing was the tempura. i do not expect amazing tempura at this price, but the vegetables were oily and you can see how much oil came out from them on the plate. the prawn was very poor quality and taste weird. tempura should be at least crispy but the batter was soggy. the sweet potato slice and the pumpkin were undercooked. i tolerated thesashimibut i couldn't even try to finish the tempura. very disappointed as the menu is pretty good and it used to be a nice place. with this kind of quality, i don't know how do they justify serving full blood wagyu on the $90 menu) as they would most definitely ruin the meat.

this place always has a queue but we reckon it's worth it. thesashimiis super fresh and you tend to want to order more. the yakuniku is good although the portion is quite small but definitely tasty. perfect for a quick meal or to gather with family for a long relaxing dinner

this was my first time to masuya but i think i might have found my favorite japanese restaurant in the city!

we ordered quite a bit as a group but i can’t complain about any of the dishes.

i really enjoyed the karaage chicken and the agedashi tofu. the chicken was just so yummy and the tofu definitely worth a try!

thesashimiplatter was delicious and all the seafood were very fresh.

and lastly the hotpot! this is by far the best japanese hotpot i’ve ever had! the wagyu beef was so tender and delicious that keeps making me to want to go back.

overall, quality food, friendly staff and service combined with a good environment is a place that i’ll definitely go back to.

thesashimiwas good but not amazing. it’s pretty expensive for the amount ofsashimiyou get - i expected thesashimiplatter to have more variety and quantities. the swordfishsashimiwas very enjoyable - i love how they grilled the skin so there was a nice blend of smokey flavours.

this restaurant is popular for its japanese cuisine. there is usually a long queue of guests waiting to be seated. thesashimihere was really fresh especially the sea urchin which was a truly surprise. the eel rice was delicious as well. so was the pot. definitely it is worth a try. will be back.

always busy during dinner and lunch. i visited for lunch just by myself. the place was half full, but they got bento take away order through phone, so the kitchen was busy already.

i ordered a lunch set, it took 30 mins to deliver. i saw my tempura plate was ready to go inside of the kitchen, but the set menu did not come out until 5 mins later.
they seem to cook for take away first (understandable though) .

the meal was just okay. tempura was warm enough, but zucchini was over cooked, prawn was mostly batter, the other veg/fake crab stick tempura were just okay, and were not overly crispy. i was kinda disappointed as the tempura was the main dish in the meal.

i would go back for other menu, in particular forsashimistuff, they look good.

lovely restaurant! will definitely visit again.
for the night it was packed with people. the three of us ordered asashimimain and a beef hot pot. theirsashimiwas really fresh and delightful to start the meal with. as for the hot pot, soy milk base turned out to be loaded with flavours of the ingredients. highly recommend trying the base although the hot pot itself didn’t differentiate too much from others.
limited range of dessert turned up down a bit, but overall good portion and quality of food, great dining experience.

definitely come here early to avoid the wait (before 6pm)!! the line just shows how popular they are though, they’ve got everything fromsashimito hot pot 🍣🍱🍤🍶🥩
the staff are super friendly, they kept apologising for the wait, but once you order they’re pretty quick with bringing the food out, since a lot of the menu likesashimiand hot pot are raw.
their location is so convenient too i pass by them everyday going home so i will definitely go back 👍🏻
