can't wait to go back, again and again. my husband, 2year old and i ate breakfast at kate's kitchen this morning after dropping my daughter off at prek. this was our second time here, the first being for lunch. (which was the best lunch i've had in years!!! and i'm pregnant and hard to please.)
i ordered thechickenfriedchickenwith eggs, hubby got the burrito and my son ordered the pancake w/sausage. amazing!!! this was the best breakfast ever. and after i finished my delightfulchicken& eggs, i helped polish off my sons pancake he hadn't eaten.

this makes two great meals, with excellent customer service to boot.

can't believe i hadn't been here yet. as someone else has noted, the restaurant is a lot like first watch. similar decor, target audience, menu, staff, and hours. it's cheaper though. the food is very affordable and well prepared. i had the salmon omelette that came w/ potatoes and toast for $6.50. they also do lunch items. my brother had thechickenfingers. the strips were hearty white-meat chunks, a lot higher quality than most you'd get.

another large selling point that is usually taken for granted was the joe. one of the best plain ole cups of coffee i've had around town.

if you're coming in on a sunday, there can be a pretty large after-church crowd, so plan accordingly. also, watch the hours. they're strictly a breakfast/brunch/lunch place.

i went to kate's kitchen and i was greeted with a smile when i walked in the door. the restaurant was packed, but we were seated within 5 mins on a saturday morning. i am a repeat customer, but it was my companion's first time. i had a really nicechickensalad and he had a club sandwich that he said he would return for soon. our server was really friendly and never kept us waiting. i asked to take my homemade muffin home and she said she would include the cream cheese icing for me to drizzle on it when i got home. i loved the friendly staff and great food. definitely, will return.

we love it. surprised when people complain about small portions. have eaten here several times and portions have never been a problem,even for bigger male eaters in family. last wk ordered the banana carmel french toast, it wasn't as hot as i prefer and had to send it back twice for a warm up, but no biggie to get that done.believe problem was due to cold bananas and carmel sauce. but was quickly fixed. we always ask to have "crisp" potatos and they are great.
sons love the "chicked fried chicken" its a largechickenbreast fried with perfectly season and crispy crust. comes with bisquit, gravy, eggs, and potatos, large plate of food.

never disappointed, we always go early to beat the crowd, enjoy the staff.

this little gem is tucked away in an assuming strip mall, it's bright blue sign (and the occasional line out the door) the only indication that the best home-cooking since, well, your mom's is hidden within.

this morning i enjoyed theirchickenfried chicken, and it was far better than it had any right to be. my wife enjoyed their special of the day, a scrambler mixed with diced ham, bacon, eggs, and avocado slices. she ended up trading half her delicious meal for about a third of the chicken.

the atmosphere is simple but charming and the service is exceptionally quick and friendly. when asked for a recommendation from the menu, i felt like bailey (or waitress) had a genuine love for the food there, a refreshing change.

my goal is to never order the same thing twice there till i've sampled everything that looked appetizing, and i'll be suggesting it as a spot for lunch with my friends from here on.

nice family restaurant. mixed review the eggs bennedict were bad but thecaliforina freshchickensand and the pancakes were good. clean pleasent dinning room service was ok but when we complained about the eggs bennedict and returned them uneaten to the kitchen the server just said sorry, nothing was done even when 2 of the 4 dinners left the restaurant unfeed !!!!!!! wow thats sad

simply awesome. i used to go to first watch for breakfast for years...one day about three weeks ago i urged my husband to stop at kate's kitchen. my girlfriends from work love this place. we had this omelet our server suggested, the sunrise i think it's called. my husband was looking for something filling. our server suggested thechickenfried chicken. my daughter had the kids pancake and ham. our son (1yr) was very fussy. another server was passing by and looked over our table and played with the kids a moment. a few seconds later the two servers showed up at our table with fresh fruit and crackers for the kids at the same time! talk about service...our servers name was pat , he was such a very nice man. and the big muscular guy was named jim or joe...anyway, today we went back in and this place was packed! we once again had pat as our server, he did not disappoint once again. the thing that was so surprising was the food was just as good as the first time even in all that chaos. the other man, jim/joe was running the cash register and he saw us in the crowd and came over and thanked us for coming back...he even remembered our daughters name and that she had told him she was going on a field trip, i was stunned...he told us the owner was back in the kitchen cooking, and how hard that man works to keep such a beautiful place like kate's running! another girl named soppua whan also stopped and said hi to the kids, and to top it all off the other owner joey, took our plates away in nothing flat...we spent less than $25 for our meals that will bring us back for a lifetime....you would not believe the smiles you get from the obviously professional staff...everyone should give this place a try...simply, awesome!!!!

chicken friedchickenis an excellant choice. my first experience dining at this teriffic restaurant was a wonderful experience.
my order was thechickenfried chicken. you also get an egg, toast, with several varieties to choose from, (marble rye was my selection) and potatoes. all were cooked to perfection.
the service is top notch and the environment is warm and friendly.
a great restaurant for a wonderful family outing or a solo breakfast or lunch. i look forward to my next visit.

do not go here!. i do not like this resturant! one. poor location, who wants to eat next to a gym?! two. poor service, slide-up charge to ask for a pancake instead of a muffin. three. who wants a samon and egg salad omlet?! four. strange decor ,blue and tan!!!? five. they mess upchickenfingers for my son!? six. first watch is much better, i think. heres some info the guy who owns kates kitchen used to work at first watch. 1 1/2 stars out of 5

i have a new favorite for breakfast in kansas city. try thechickenfried steak and eggs or ronnie's favorite.
