many pros and one small con. i think it's time for at least one change. we had reservations at 5:00 and apparently 30 other people also did. we arrived about 10 minutes early and they were nice enough to have all 30 of us huddle around the front desk until exactly 5:00. when 5:00 rolled around it was a confused mess of what to do. seems like the pushy ones got in first and reservations meant very little. didn't want to say all that but hey, it's a review. then we were seated... the service was awesome! suggestions about the food, beer, liquor, and deserts were all spot on. our waitress was very attentive and a pro at her job. the food, beer, bourbon, and deserts were fantanstic. i will definitely be back and would suggest this place to all. be patient if your experience starts off a bit like ours did and you will be rewarded in the end.

cute ambience and atmosphere. had the brisket sandwich ( order it extra lean) , and the ribs. would go back. service though could have been better, hostess and wait or were a little strange

pitiful portion on the brisket sandwich, which was meh anyways. the rest of the table seemed to feel the same way. the beer and waitstaff were good.

great food, great service. i had not been to doc crow's before, nor had i heard of it. i was pleasantly surprised by the upscale nature of the restaurant. the food and service were both outstanding.

po-boy good.. the food was good. brisket juicy. fried okra, a lighter batter than usually expected with okra, but nicely seasoned. po boy, delicious with some delightfully crispy-on-the-outside, fluffy-on-the-inside bread served with a generous portion of kettle chips. service.... it was lacking. the drink runner was a bit behind, our drinks with our dinner coming half way through our meal. and my gin and tonic had no lime. the atmosphere was a little off as well. the newly renovated iron quarter building is clean and urban with a slight nod to a more rustic world. but the type of food, server dress, and plates make you feel like your at mark's. but i'll forgive the service and atmosphere, because that po-boy was delicious

the general manager ripped our drinks out of our hands and yelled at us that his glasses were five dollars apiece. even though we paid 4 dollars for a lousy sprite. what a horrible embarrassing experience. i would never come to this restaurant unless you want to be treated with no class!!! avoid at all cost!!!

pretty darned good. what got me about doc crow's? seeing that little squeeze bottle on the table with vinegar and pepper flakes. carolina-style bbq is someting not found in the river city and i've missed it dearly. for me, it could use quite a bit more pepper to really crank the heat up, but it doesn't dispell my happiness over finally discovering a vinegar-based bbq sauce. does everything taste exactly how my southern palate would like? no, but it comes pretty darned close!

great service & very knowledgeable server! she answered all our questions & described everything very well. blackened salmon & greens were amazing! side salad could use more toppings, the tomato dressing was very good! great size kids portion of the pork sandwich & lima beans. only one option of bbq sauce & it is a little on the spicy side. would go back!

fantastic southern food in an adorable restaurant in the heart of downtown louisville. a friend and i traveled from michigan on a whim and stumbled into this place and were absolutely delighted! we have made cracks about returning to louisville just for the food after this experience. highly recommend, you will not be disappointed. we had the fried tilapia platter wit hush puppies, fired okra, and braised greens. everything was so delicious, we went back for dessert later.

came in with a buddy, both of us from out of town. great atmosphere and people watching from window booths. started with the peel and eat shrimp which were great. nice size and great seasonings! moved on the the smokehouse sampler with ribs, brisket, and pork. the baby back ribs were phenomenal. perfectly fall off the bone, and the dry rub was addictive. the brisket and pulled pork were also good but the ribs take the cake. for sides i had the baked beans, cheddar grits, and cornbread. the cornbread was perfect and i’ve never had better cheddar grits, super creamy, tender and well seasoned. i would def return for the ribs, grits, and cornbread.
