the meat at doc crow’s is certainly impressive. but have you yet taken your love of bacon to the next level by indulging in a special dessert called wilber’s sundae? pork paramours need to swing in for this $5 dish that is as unique as it is delicious.

marine corps reunion dinner. went to doc crow's on a referral from someone else. i was hosting a marine corps reunion for a bunch of guys, got in touch with the owner of the eatery since we had a pretty large group. we had about 20+ people in our group and everyone seemed to have a great meal, very nice atmosphere inside the restaurant with a very post modern type feel. from my understanding they are known for bbq and the food did not disappoint, i split my meal with another guy and our steak and ribs were excellent. i would recommend this as a good place to eat.

ok bbq bad presentation. server was nice and drink stayed full. i ordered the pulled pork bbq sandwich and chips. the bun was huge and too hard to eat. the bun to meat ratio was also off. i asked for an untoasted bun instead and it was almost as hard. the chips were not crispy fresh. the oyster appetizers were good and the actual meat on the sandwich was good. others with me got the fish and it came out on a plain plate with a couple hush puppies, lacked presentation and they said the fish was ok. the hush puppies were good. i may try again sometime but not soon if i do i will order something not on a bun.

my lunch break was ruined.. burnt corn bread, watery soup, and bad brisket. the hush puppies were greasy and to spicy to eat because of the jalapeano peppers, the texas chili seemed like they added all of the left over meat to a bowl of water and added a can of tomatoes. the piece of corn bread served with the soup was like a brick because is was so overcooked and actually burnt. and to finish our meal we were suppose to not notice the 5 oz of fat that was attached to our portion of beef brisket
not sure what the chef or the cooks were doing in the kitchen, they were not overly busy even at 12:30. because the brisket was not cut correctly, and the second one was over cooked. just one bbq sauce as a choice; southern hush puppies do not have hot peppers in them. the menu does not give good enough descriptions. we asked for a manager and no one ever came. the server was extremely nice and the terrible food was not her fault.the great concept was a huge let down. i am envious of the guests that actually enjoyed their meal.

my wife and i loved the place.. it looks small when you first walk in, then you realize the place goes all the way to the next block. water bottle and two glasses to read your menus. when you are done the two sauces they have on the table one is a western kentucky type (mostly vinigar and spices) the other a tangy sweet almost kc meets texas. the beer list is impressive in its own but so are the wines and bourbon whiskey menus. i settled for a new orleans beer had never had to go with my half rack of baby backs, these were tender fall of the bone, they had the pink ring under a dry rub crust, tasty. the sides i had were beans and greens, ate them all like a good ky boy i am. my wife had pork bbq sandwich with house chips. the sandwich came on a briouche bun with the tender pork butt pile high on it. yes i said butt and would say it again too. it had cripy tobacco oniond on top and a celry salt based slaw on the bottom. with her ice tea being kept full with out her asking every tim too. we enjoyed the trip to the city of louisville very much for this increadible treat. the deserts sound wonderfull too bad we were stuffed full.

the pulled pork tacos though, in my opinion, were the star of the show. described on the menu as, "slow smoked pork shoulder, bbq sauce, smoked pico de gallo" they weren't lacking anything despite the short list of ingredients. i wanted to say they needed some sort of sour cream sauce or cheese or something - but you know what? they didn't. not even a little bit. if i made pulled pork tacos at home, i would want them to taste exactly like this. jesse's brisket was perfectly smoked to the right balance of tenderness and flavor without overpowering the actual flavor of the meat. the greens weren't mushy and as often happens they weren't too salty or relying on bacon grease or ham to give them all their flavor either.

we'll be back.... first visit to doc crow's. we had gumbo, 2 beers, and two sandwiches for $36.00. the gumbo reminded us of the gumbo in alabama, lacking only a little heat which we solved by adding hot sauce. the food delivery was a little slow but it was a saturday night and we enjoyed sitting at the bar and conversing with the customers. we will definitely return and plan on bringing a crowd.

nice atmosphere- good pulled pork. my husband loved the pulled pork sandwich he had for lunch. he's had pulled pork at several places in the city and thought this was the best he's had. tender, good sauce, toasted bun, with slaw and pickles on the sandwich. i had the turkey club which was pretty much like any other turkey club. i saw big bowls of the kettle chips when we walked in and was excited to try them. however, they had little flavor and no salt (chips with no salt??) i guess they are healthier, but not too good. i even wondered if it was a mistake. waiter could have used some common courtesy 101 training. atmosphere was nicer than i expected. chocolate chip cookies were really good (allow time as they are cooked to order) and the wilber's sundae was great! two sandwiches and 2 desserts with water came to $30.

yuck!. loud, crowded -- sitting at the tables next to bar means you are bumped every time someone walks past. service very very very slow. all drinks were luke warm -- martinis, wine. but the food was the worst -- an oyster po boy was just a big lettuce sandwich. ribs dry. hush puppies just fried cornmeal. the onion rings were clearly frozen, not home made or even of good frozen quality. and then you get the check! this was not a good dining experience and i would neither return nor recommend doc crow's. everyone in my party agreed.
