great service & very knowledgeable server! she answered all our questions & described everything very well. blackened salmon & greens were amazing! side salad could use more toppings, the tomato dressing was very good! great size kids portion of theporksandwich & lima beans. only one option of bbq sauce & it is a little on the spicy side. would go back!

came in with a buddy, both of us from out of town. great atmosphere and people watching from window booths. started with the peel and eat shrimp which were great. nice size and great seasonings! moved on the the smokehouse sampler with ribs, brisket, and pork. the baby back ribs were phenomenal. perfectly fall off the bone, and the dry rub was addictive. the brisket and pulledporkwere also good but the ribs take the cake. for sides i had the baked beans, cheddar grits, and cornbread. the cornbread was perfect and i’ve never had better cheddar grits, super creamy, tender and well seasoned. i would def return for the ribs, grits, and cornbread.

doc crow's is dangerously delicious! my father and i recently ate here before a concert, and we were very impressed.

tasty sweet tea, an amazing renovated space in historic whiskey row, and diligent and friendly service. for our appetizer, we ordered the heap'n chips (made-in-house potato chips topped with melted cheddar, bbq sauce, pico de gallo, sour cream, pickled jalapeños and beef brisket and pulled pork) - a generous portion of chips and toppings that is extremely filling and a great way to kick off your meal.

for our entrees, we both ordered the fried catfish po-boy (fresh and perfectly prepared catfish, lightly battered and well-seasoned; lettuce, tomatoes, remoulade on louisiana french bread); served with hand-cut sweet potato fries and lightly breaded onion rings.

i have previously ordered the pulledporksandwich (slow smokedporkshoulder with pickles and tobacco onions) and the southern friedporksandwich (bonelessporkchop with lettuce, tomatoes, and remoulade on a brioche bun), both of which were outstanding sandwiches.

one of our favorite spots in downtown louisville.

there's not much bad to say about this establishment, if any. we had the wedge salad, fried green tomatoes, pulledporktacos, mac n cheese, and the pulledporksupper. it was all fantasic. i felt the portions were a good size for the price and location. we also enjoyed the country boy cougar bait and on tap. we sat at the bar and conversed with the bartender (karie with a "k") and some out of town folks from savanah, georgia and new york. they had a bourbon cocktail hand crafted from one of the bartenders that they really enjoyed. another gentlemen sitting next to us had the pecan pie for dessert and said it was great. the atmosphere was excellent. i will definately be returning for some great food, excellent cocktails/beers, and enjoyable bar staff.

loved the pulledporkand beer list. i've heard mixed things, it may depend on what you order, but i loved the pulled pork. the onion rings i got as a side were okay. my girlfriend enjoyed the ribs, the location is great if you're doing something downtown, but not so much if you have no reason to be in the area. prices were fair, service was just okay.

quick & tasty dinner. i read the reviews and i was not sure about going but i wanted to try some new items and not rely soley on the negative reviews. so my friend and i went on a tues night with a friend. granted it was the coldest night seen in louisville so that may have been a reason why the restaurant was not crowded, but it was not empty either. it had a nice size crowd, but really no need for the reservation i put in for 615. we arrive about 5 mins late and were seated immediately. the waiter was very attentive and responded with all requests in a timely manner. i ordered a drink and appetizers as soon as we sat down at 6:34. i don't usually drink bourbon drinks so i wasn't thrilled about the drink but i still drink it. it was my taste buds and not the actual drink . appetizers came out promptly and we placed our food order and that too came out before we finished our appetizers which were the fried green tomatoes and pulledporktacos, which filled us up! i had the shrimp and grits and my friend had the catfish poboy, and we loved them both! the gravy used in the shrimp and grits was very flavorful and the shrimp were of large size and plentiful. the fish was tender and crunch, and seasoned perfectly. everything was hot, tasty, and big portion sizes. we ended up taking the food home for leftovers. we were out of the restaurant by 718 to catch our 730 play down the street. all in all it was a very good experience and i will be back to try more dishes.

mediocre. the place isn't bad, it's just not that good. i had the pulledporksupper. it was okay, but just that. it wasn't smokey at all. it could have been made in the oven. my colleague agreed as well. he also had pulledporkand ordered the brisket to go before he tried anything. once again, not bad, just not good either.

btw, the service and atmosphere were both good.

bad ribs. because they were busy, they served me a half rack ofporkribs that seemed to have been cooked days before. very dry. i complained, and they did compensate me, but i wanted them to know that they were trying to serve an inferior item.

just left doc crows and i am so disappointed.. walked in on slick floors, dangerous to all but especially when your carrying a baby in her carseat. we had prompt service and got our brisket tacos quickly. the tacos were tue highlight of the meal. shortly after we were served dinner 1/2 rack of ribs with greens and mac-n-cheese and shrimp po boy with grits. the shrimp had not been deviened, not at all. every shrimp had a big black line of nastiness right down the back. the ribs were ok but definitely on the dry side. all the sides were bland and in need of some serious seasoning. sent back the po boy and ordered a stuffed baked potato with brisket assuming that if the tacos were good... i was wrong the potato was just ok and the 4 chunks of meats were almost entirely fat. my husband ordered the wilber sundae. it liked it better than me but we both agreed the bourbon cherries were gross, there were too manyporkrinds, and the bacon was chewy. really disappointed... i had looked forward to dinner at doc crows all day... i won't be making a return visit.

excellent place to spend an evening on your own. my server jillian not only made spot-on food recommendations, she made my evening! the mussels were delicious and my beef brisket and pulledporktaco's were well prepared and hit the spot.

never again. the last time i ate at this place it was so bad i swore i'd never do it to myself again.

for some reason, however, i ate at doc crow's last night and it was worse than i remembered. as soon as our server learned we were not ordering alcohol, she stopped paying attention to us and was far more attentive to other tables. i wanted to apologize to our aloof waitress for not being 21, however she never gave me the chance seeing as she failed to check in on us throughout our meal. if she had managed to ask how we were doing, i would have let her know i was shocked by the half ice cream scoop of fattyporkon my sandwich disguised by a bunch of slaw. i took two bites and realized it wasn't worth getting sick over. the fries were good, but so are mcdonald's and you don't have to beg for someone to get your server to bring you a bill there.

there are great places to get barbecue in louisville, doc crow's is not one of them.

okay. building and atmosphere were great....location convenient. ordered fried catfish, which was quite meaty and tasty, but the hushpuppies it came with were the worst i have ever had...ever. hard as rocks and tasted like the oil they were cooked in wasn't hot enough so the dough absorbed that oil. yuck! husband ordered a pulledporksandwich, which was visually appealing. he's likes the more simple things so when the bbq came with all kinds of different flavors on it...fried onion, pickles, etc....he said he could hardly taste the meat at all. so, he was not a fan. we are always trying new restaurants so it was nice to enjoy the downtown location. in a pinch we might try doc crows again...maybe.

slow service, poor quality food. cool atmosphere but over priced and poor quailty food.porksandwich and beef brisket tacos were full of fat.porksandwich has a very good bun.. but that's about it. there was a poor amount of meat on the sandwich that could be considered edible. service is lacking and the bbq is better elsewhere in town.
