i've had better.

we went on a friday night with a 15-minute wait. very surprising. our host attempted to take us to a table that was not on the patio as we requested. so i tracked him down to let him know and he seemed to be rather put out. i tried to make my request light-hearted, but he wasn't having it. maybe he was just having a bad night.

our waitress was decent, but she never smiled until we were about to leave. however, service was impeccable and the food was served hot as expected.

as i mentioned above i've had better service here as well as in texas. the texas folks seem to enjoy where they worked. they seemed as whimsical as the decor. not so much here in norman.

either way i love chuy's and i'll be back (so be ready).

this review is for the north little rock location which does not have its own zomato entry. i walked into the restaurant a little over an hour ago, at about 8:20 on sunday evening. the restaurant does not close until 10 pm, but the primary reason for writing this review is that the staff at this location was acting as though the restaurant had closed at 8 pm. everything about the service was slow; it took 10 minutes for my waitress to stop at my table the first time to bring chips and salsa and to take a drink order, then it was 8:45 before my margarita arrived at my table. the restaurant was not busy, but there were several tables in attendance, and more people were seated after i had arrived. i was seated near the main intersection of the restaurant, where the staff would walk from the kitchen to the bar area. the whole time, there were large numbers of employees congregated in this area, loudly having personal conversations about what was going on in their lives outside of work, including profanity, and several occasions of staff members yelling from one part of the restaurants to the other. they seemed to be oblivious that customers could hear everything that was going on, and the subconscious attitude was that service of the customers seemed like an interruption to their raucous carrying on. twice during my hour visit to the restaurant there was the sound of shattering glass in the service area or bar. the food quality was also lower than normal chuy's standards. both of my bowls of salsa had jalapeño stems in them. the beef in the steak burrito was so over cooked that it was very dry, almost sawdusty, and was not even warm enough to melt the cheese in the burrito, although the plate was scorching hot when it arrived at the table. toward the end of my meal, as two of the staff members were sweeping up the dining room, they continued their loud personal conversation, taking much more time than needed to clean up after previous patrons, and were sweeping so close to my feet, that i thought they were almost trying to sweep me out as well. if this is indicative of the quality of service on sunday evenings, the restaurant might as well close much earlier.

norman, okla. – it seems to be an unwritten rule for food critics that, for the most part, complimenting chain restaurants are verboten when writing reviews. it’s almost as if by not always subscribing to the “buy local” mantra—which most of us do most of the time anyway—we’re somehow doing a disservice to the little chef who built his eatery from the ground up.

our first time at this restaurant, both location and to the chain itself. it was disappointing to say the least and hands down the worst dining experience as a family to date. first, our appetizers and bar drinks were delivered before the kids drinks and waters. our server had a difficult time taking our order. he had to ask multiple times for our daughter to repeat, "may i have guacamole on that?". and her meal did not come out with it. our order arrived incomplete, with one of the kid's meals not included. he ended up waiting over five minutes for his meal to come out. he's a very patient 7 year-old, but he was getting very frustrated. drink refills were slow, and we didn't receive a refill on chips as requested.
the best part of the meal was the chips and salsa. the salsa is fresh and spicy, delicious. the remainder of the meal was just ok. we've had better text mex/mexican at other national chains.
we will not be going back.

awesome food, one of my favorite places. however, it's always so busy that the service can be a bit slow...not necessarily their fault. otherwise perfect.

my favorite mexican restaurant, hands down! the shrimp chile rellanos are amazing and hold up even when you order to go. the creamy jalapeño dip is to die for.

by far the worst mexican food in little rock. service is always bad and they never bring your order out like you asked. i thought on the border was a sad excuse for tex-mex until i came to chuys. the waitress seemed to have been up for a few days and when we asked for cheese on our salad we got a small sauce bowl that ended up costing us a dollar.

the service was far better than the food. everyone was friendly and they even let us try a few sauces before ordering. the restaurant was busy but kept up. the food was 80%/20% creative. i'm sorry to say that the 20% was just not my style. in fact, i didn't finish a few things. it seems popular so i still recommend in the hope your palate is different than mine.

we went to chuy's with a very large group {45} during a conference in okc. the service was perfect, the waitstaff was patient & had all of our food out in a timely manner.

i ordered 2 enchiladas {one tex-mex cheese with onions & the other beef with creamy jalapeno sauce} they were extra delicious. the chips & salsa tasted fresh & were always full.

definitely worth a try the next time you are close to one!

free queso is my jam and this place has it!  their happy hour specials, which include a free queso bar, can't be beat.  the drinks are reasonably priced too which makes for a great spot to meet up after work.  their chips are thin and crispy which i love, although sometimes a little too greasy.  i will be a loyal customer for happy hour as long as they have a free queso bar!

we ate dinner at chuy's in west little rock tonight and i don't think we'll ever return. i ordered the veggie enchilada one of my favorite meals there and it wasn't up to what i have come to expect. also i bit into about an inch long piece of plastic bottle cap that was somehow in the salsa and i have regurgitated at least four woody avocado stems that was mixed into the guacamole that we ordered. this all makes me wonder what else was in our food. i can no longer recommend this restaurant to anyone.

been in several times and the fish tacos are bomb.com. i've never had a bad experience and i think they have the best salsa around. i actually prefer chuy's over ted's. ted's is good, but chuy's is great!

chuy's is a great addition to oklahoma's mexican cuisine. they have the best sangria around, and now that iguana has tanked, also the best salsa. try the southwestern ... stacked blue corn enchiladas with pulled chicken and topped with a fried egg ... delicious.
