i have quite a few friends, who live across the pond and a lot of them (not all!) love chuy’s.   after being lured in, by the promise of homemade refried beans and salsa, the husband and i ventured, to the south, for somemexicanfood. this is how lame we are –> we caught the matinée of hangover 3, we were at dinner by 5 and we were back in pajamas, at home, by 6:30. married life is awesome! whoever says differently is a damn liar! going to florence, to eat, is always a little bit of an enigma. it’s like they don’t own ovens, in that part of ky because everyone goes out to eat. recession, my ass. however, being as we were eating, with the senior crowd hours, we had no issues getting right in. minus the hostesses, look what greeted us!   done! i’m already in love. what can i say? i’m a sucker for cheesy…and elvis. love the decor, kind of old diner meets restaurant. before i go into food – our server, while not only cute and spunky, was awesome! you could tell that she really enjoyed the

we went with our party of seven adults tonight to this lively crowded spot off 281 and henderson pass. like the other restaurants in this chain, it's decor is 50s shabby/chic with lots of hubcaps, elvis memorabilia and new mexico references since themexicanfood leans toward southwesternmexicanand not tex mex. the hostess asked that we wait until everyone in our party had arrived before being seated, but the restaurant wasn't crowded? we were seated and given menus. after ten minutes our waiter arrived and was not happy, he seemed preoccupied and upset, an attitude that continued throughout our meal.

the menu has some appetizers, salads, enchilada plates and specialties plus a fajita offering. also a full bar. we ordered drinks and the appetizer sampler to get started. sheesh, we waited another 20 minutes before our waiter brought our drinks and appetizer---then he disappeared without taking our entree orders! we weren't pleased at all with the service but when he showed up again we ordered taco salads, soft tacos, tortilla soup andmexicansalad.

another 30-minute wait and finally our entrees arrived cold and not really very good. my taco salad had wilted and brown lettuce and about half a cup of meat--for $10??? my spouse'smexicansalad was bland and chicken on it ice cold. the appetizer plate had flautas, queso, guacamole, nachos and quesadillas but no one finished those... it just wasn't that good.

before we had even gotten halfway through our entrees our disgruntled waiter brought our checks! good grief, guess no one wanted desserts?

i doubt we'll waste our time and money coming here anytime soon. the best parts are the jalapeño ranch dipping sauce and the crispy chips. everything else, including the rude disinterested service, is forgettable. total for three entrees, two drinks and a margarita was $52.87 including tip.

we enjoyed our visit to chuy's. getting nearby parking can be challenging but we were lucky to get a spot close by. seated immediately on a wednesday night around 8:30 p.m. they have a vibrant bar area separate from the dining area, but you can order from the full menu in the bar if you choose. unlimited chips and salsa -- and two distinctively different types of salsa - one tomato based finely chopped and the other a cream green chili base.

i ordered a chicken filled green chili salsa enchilada and a meat filled chili relleno combination plate (with green chili rice and charro beans). it took quite a while for the meal to be delivered. meanwhile i did enjoy their "basic" margarita -- quite delicious for $7. the plate arrived super hot and the meal was very tasty in all respects. portions are large, and i ended up taking half home with me for lunch the next day (it re-heats quite well in the microwave).

i'm sure chuy's isn't the bestmexicanfood in dallas but quite a decent experience, and high value.

by far the worstmexicanfood in little rock. service is always bad and they never bring your order out like you asked. i thought on the border was a sad excuse for tex-mex until i came to chuys. the waitress seemed to have been up for a few days and when we asked for cheese on our salad we got a small sauce bowl that ended up costing us a dollar.

chuy's is a great addition to oklahoma'smexicancuisine. they have the best sangria around, and now that iguana has tanked, also the best salsa. try the southwestern ... stacked blue corn enchiladas with pulled chicken and topped with a fried egg ... delicious.

chuy's ismexicanwith a twist (or a bit of kink if you prefer).

they have a nice patio which they actually use much of the year.

they have the usualmexicanfare but usually stepped up a bit. they also have their kink - like the elvis green chile fried chicken. from their menu: "a chuys original. a tender chicken breast breaded with lays potato chips, deep fried and smothered in green chile sauce and cheddar cheese. served with green chile rice and refried beans".

the two combo plates are excellent and showcase several items. just have them hold the 'smokey chipotle sauce' on the flautas. the flautas are really good - but the sauce is a total travesty.

the rellenos are good as are the fajitas in whatever species you prefer.

be sure to try the creamy jalapeño ranch with your chips. it has tons of finely diced mild jalapeños swimming in the ranch dressing. so good!

they also offer hatch pepper sauce. it too is great on chips but you may find it more than a bit spicy. being a beef broth based sauce it has interesting undertones.

i'm actually commenting on the new nlr location. we liked it but didn't love it! surprised at what they didn't have. no fresh guacamole made at the table and our guest was disappointed they didn't have salmon. our platters of food were generous but pretty standard fare. othermexicanrestaurants have better food.

greatmexicanlunch today. was shopping in the area and stopped by for lunch just before noon. glad we chose that time as the place was packed by 12:30. was seated promptly and had a great waiter. he answered every question we had. bought us chips and three differ dips. one was too spicy for my spouse so he brought another that was greatly “toned down”. the chips were warm and as thin as could be. the salsa and chips were the best. ordered the tortilla soup, since they did not offer caldo. i was told the soup was the best next thing to caldo. they brought out a really large bowl that was steaming hot and filled with chicken, cheese, avocado, corn, carrots and other veggies. the soup was excellent and getting though a bowl took a little time. on the side were two hot tortillas. my spouse ordered the chicken taco salad which was crisp greens and a lot of white meat chicken. she advised it too was delicious. our glasses were kept topped off and we could not have ask for a better waiter. the prices are a little more than one might expect for lunch at amexicanrestaurant in this area, but the food was well worth the small extra cost. chuy’s actually looks like amexicanrestaurant from south of the boarder. parking around the restaurant is at a premium and there is limited parking on the street. this was one of the best lunch meals at amexicanrestaurant we have had in a vey long time.

finally a decent texmex restaurant. moving from texas to okc i miss the abundance of amazing texmex restaurants. i ate at chuys in texas many times and i would say it's average to above average for texas standards. however, now living in ok, it's at the top of my list. for whatever reason, many people here associate free cups of powdered queso and tortillas as being the "best" texmex food, im certain you know the other texmex restaurant i'm referring to. chuys has amazing salsa fresca and creamy jalapeno ranch. the queso is just ok and the tortillas are excellent. while they do have hatch green chile dishes available in season, i hardly label chuys as new mexico stylemexicanfood. queso and fajitas are texmex...try ordering queso at traditional, new mexico or bajamexicanestablishments and you will be served a plate of grated or melted cheese, not queso. all in all, you won't be dissapointed in the food. as far as service goes, i always give restaurants a few shots if the food is good. while i've never had bad service here, it's bound to happen sooner or later as most servers/hostesses are college aged kids no pursuing a career in waiting tables.

i ordered to go a couple of weeks ago. i was very happy with the service and the fact that they offered curb side. at first i was unaware of the 6% "packaging fee" and asked the girl about it. she showed me on the to go menu where it says the fee is added. she said that the fees go strictly to the nice containers they use to package the food. it's not a "tip". i got the fajitas and they were to die for. it's tex mex food so of course i didn't expect it to taste like authenticmexicanfood. i was very pleased and will definitely be using to go curb side again!!

not worth the heartburn!. why would anyone eat here when you can dump a can of rosarita refried beans from walmart in a bowl, pop it in the microwave and toss it on a tortilla with some melted velveeta-rotel queso? seriously people, this is dallas! there are so many great hole-in-the-wallmexicanplaces all over town... heck, velvet taco is right across the freeway, taqueria lupita just down henderson and tacos y mas is not too far either! bottom line: this place is not worth the time or heartburn and if it is going to stick around it needs a facelift.

nasty !!!. it has been a while since we have been to chuy's and after yesterday we will not be going to this location ever again. first we had to wait for a table because nobody was cleaning the empty tables that was all over. then when we finally got seated we waited again for the very rude server to inform us that they were out of chips (how does amexicanrestaurant run out of chips) he then turned around and left without another word. upon returning, finally he didn't ask us what we wanted to drink he just stood there we told him what we wanted to drink and eat, he turned around and left again without a word. he finally brought chips and salsa the chips tasted like bagged chips. the flour tortillias were hard and cold and tasted like they were a week old. i finally got up to ask for small plates for the chips and tortillias apparently it was the manager that i asked. he was very, very rude and acted like he he had no ideal what a small plate was ! he brought the plates later and practically threw them on the table and stalked off. when the food was finally brought out it was unedible ! we ordered the #6 cheese enchilada, taco, chalupa and rice and beans and two orders of nachos. the nachos tasted as bad as they looked the refried beans were scorched and looked like they were scraped from the sides and bottom of the pan. the #6 dinner was cold and tasted awful. the server never came back around after he threw the food on the table, we had to flag him down to get the ticket and then he has the nerve to ask if we needed anything else to drink !!! he threw the ticket on the table and left. the only thing we needed was a rolaid and something edible for supper !! a bean burrito from taco bell would be a five star meal compared to this !! we will never go back to this chuy's ever again !!!!

fake mexican. the chicken fajitas were mostly chicken and very little peppers and onions. while decent in flavor i actually like a lot of peppers and onions with my fajitas.

a goodmexicanplace is literally a few hundred feet south. ted's escondido has better service and complimentary atomic salsa and relish.

ted's also has grilled jalapeños and chuy's fakemexicanrestaurant does not.

i won't be back. pathetic excuse for amexicanplace when they miss even the basics.

can i say eh... tex mex for midwesterners. this was the most bland tex mex ever! they don't even offer table spices like a politemexicanrestaurant does so you have no choice but to gum your way through the tasteless offering. the only thing spicy is the complimentary and fresh salsa ?pico? with fresh chips served before the meal. my margarita would have been laughed at by any self respecting restaurant. (was there any tequila in it??) my advice is to go for sodas and salsa/chips then head to a real restaurant for tex mex or mexican.
