we went with our party of seven adults tonight to this lively crowded spot off 281 and henderson pass. like the other restaurants in this chain, it's decor is 50s shabby/chic with lots of hubcaps, elvis memorabilia and new mexico references since the mexican food leans toward southwestern mexican and not tex mex. the hostess asked that we wait until everyone in our party had arrived before being seated, but the restaurant wasn't crowded? we were seated and given menus. after ten minutes our waiter arrived and was not happy, he seemed preoccupied and upset, an attitude that continued throughout our meal.
the menu has some appetizers, salads, enchilada plates and specialties plus a fajita offering. also a full bar. we ordered drinks and the appetizer sampler to get started. sheesh, we waited another 20 minutes before our waiter brought our drinks and appetizer---then he disappeared without taking our entree orders! we weren't pleased at all with the service but when he showed up again we ordered taco salads, soft tacos, tortilla soup and mexican salad.
another 30-minute wait and finally our entrees arrived cold and not really very good. my taco salad had wilted and brown lettuce and about half a cup of meat--for $10??? my spouse's mexican salad was bland and chicken on it ice cold. the appetizer plate had flautas, queso, guacamole, nachos and quesadillas but no one finished those... it just wasn't that good.
before we had even gotten halfway through our entrees our disgruntled waiter brought our checks! goodgrief, guess no one wanted desserts?
i doubt we'll waste our time and money coming here anytime soon. the best parts are the jalapeño ranch dipping sauce and the crispy chips. everything else, including the rude disinterested service, is forgettable. total for three entrees, two drinks and a margarita was $52.87 including tip.
