apple cake tea room

thefoodis good. the chicken salad is good. i love the banana bread is awesome! i like going there by myself and take a book. the staff however is a different story. i don't find them to be friendly at all.

very disappointed..my mother sister niece and i have made apple cake tea room a lunch stop destination every mothers day and birthday for almost 15 years now but recently (and it could be the economy or a bad day), thefoodwas quite bland, lacking the usual high quality freshness we came to love.the servings were meager and overall stale.still, we hope it was just a bad day so we can return and enjoy the b&b country charm we knew it to be from previous visits.

this place needs some updates, not talking about the place, it's interesting with collections of everything. thefoodwas kind of s&s cafeteria like. stuck in the past. that's fine for the decor but what was a special menu 30 years ago not so much today. the potato soup was delicious and creamy but you better like celery. the fruit is not fresh. the "glaze" is pie filling, so of course the seven-year-old loved it. the chicken salad was very plain nothing special about it. the chips were just plain wavy potato chips out of the bag. the complimentary bran muffin that was brought in the beginning was a really nice touch but i expected something apple since its in the name.

worst experience i've had. .thefoodwas ok. .but they do not like for you to bring babies. ..never offered a high chair. ..told us we couldn't place the car seat on a chair and pull it close enough to feed the baby. because it's so small and it would interfere with the next table. my daughter really wanted us to have a nice lunch today before our shopping trip. ..the baby was so good never made a sound while we were there. ..we feed thebaby stretching acoss the table and my daughter lost her appetite and didn't even eat. .our bill was almost 30 bucks for a scoop of tuna and chips. ....i would not recommended this place to anyone with kids. it ruined our day out.

i found great place to eat. i found the tea room by accident but totally fell in love with look of place and thefoodand staff were pure bliss. great place to just relax and enjoy food. must try at least once will be return customer for life.

bad service even before i went. i contacted this restaurant because i wanted to hold a tea for my red hat group. i had been told by others that thefoodwas good and the location was good for us as a group. i called to see if a group of 18 could be accommodated and was told yes and that i would be mailed a menu and group pricing options since they have no web-site and the person i spoke with did not want to take the time to tell me over the phone (i called about 2:20 since they close at 2:30. i thought they would be less busy at this time but perhaps she just wanted to go home.). i have waited over a week and still received nothing. as our event date is approaching, i will be making reservations elsewhere.

not going, ever!. i searched this restaurant after hearing the name and thinking it sounded like a nice place to go for lunch. after reading about the lack of common courtesy and consideration on the part of this owner and her employees, i will not be going after all. i am honestly appalled to read that a business owner is so unappreciative of customers to go to the extent of charging parents for their children just to be in her restaurant even if they do not orderfoodbecause they might make a mess and to show no concern for a customer who has fallen. there are plenty of other good restaurants in town, we will not be going to this one.

love that spiced tea! bad service, though. i recently visited the tea room, which is a rare treat since i work and don't get to go unless i have a day off. i had the chicken salad croissant and banana bread and of course the spiced tea. i go just for the tea it's so good. thefoodwas delicious, but i feel it is overpriced. the worst part of my visit was the waitress. she was so unfriendly i felt uncomfortable my whole visit. never once even smiled and the service was terrible. it made me mad since i can almost never go, i'd like to be able to fully enjoy it when i can. still i love the log cabin and the tea and will go again someday. i just wish they would expand their hours to be more accommodating to those of us who work and can't get there during lunch hours.

love, love, love this place. i love to see long standing family owned businesses. i know times are tough for small businesses, and i credit the wonderfulfoodand delightful atmosphere for the continuation of this wonderful restaurant. congrats on lasting this long, and good luck for many more years to come!

no small children wanted???. my husband and i recently moved back to the knoxville area from georgia. we are both professionals while i am currently staying home with our two children (5 yrs and a baby). we went to eat at the apple cake tea room several times since we moved here and my in laws enjoyed going when they were in town. the first time we went we learned that they only had a hot dog and pbj of which my daughter eats neither so she sat patiently and waited for the grown ups to eat. we have no family here so we recently brought in something for my daughter to eat so that my husband and i could still come to eat at this restaurant. we had done this before as we called and they told us to bring herfoodwith us and we would have to sit in a designated area. after lunch, the waitress informed us that the owner had charged us a fee for our child to eat thefoodwe brought. i went to the owner and she proceeded to tell me how horrible the children make messes in her restaurant with the brought infoodand i assumed that is why she charges a fee. she said i will remove the fee this time but you do not know how messy it gets with these children. the owner stated that many children bring infoodand i sensed this was irritating to her. i suggested maybe she could expand her children's menu. she stated she cannot please everyone and the fee was nominal. i will not return due to the principal of the matter and it is such a shame since our family enjoyed it previously. i do not feel like the owner or her front-end staff really desires children in their establishment. the reason i state this is due to when we came in and politely stated our daughter broughtfoodas to sit in the designated area, whispering started and i was told it was going to be quite a wait. this critique is for all of us who have children who like more of a choice than a hot dog and pbj and enjoy feeling welcome where we are spending our money.

girls lunch. greatfoodand i like the special tea, but if you notice, there are some male-unfriendly things written and posted with the decor around the restaurant. my boyfriend will never go back, so it will have to be lunch with the girls or not at all.

ok, even if you're a guy!. this is a tea room, so when you go in you see ladies. but i've eaten there several times and thefoodis well-prepared and the staff is attentive.

the spiced iced tea is wonderful!
