a nashville jewel. a fan of virago in the old location, i must say the new location (well newer--it's been there a while now) just takes it over the top. as someone with a gluten allergy, it is great to go to a sushi restaurant that has tamari and understands why i am requesting it. the food is amazing and fairly priced for the quality and the dining experience. the staff is wonderful, the atmosphere is as swank as it could possibly get, and i have never had a negative experience at this hot spot. oh--and the wok charred edamame? just stop!

fun place to go. i was hesitant on going to virago as i am not a big fan of asian fusion foods. so i was very impressed when the first dish that came out which was the pistachio hamachi, was one of the best things i have ever tasted. the stone steak was entertaining to cook at the table on top of hot rocks. thewaygu beef really didn't need to be cooked because it was already full if flavor and was extremely tender. the sake brussels were okay and the asparagus bacon was okay but everything else made it a great experience!

i have a new favorite restaurant, virago be thy name!. i can't say enough about this place. bravo! vegas style restaurant with food to die for!! i am not even a big sushi fan because i do not like nori but they will wrap your maki in soy paper to cut back on that salty fishy taste which just makes the maki delectable. i had the kayne prime roll. it was heavenly. try anything on the japanese roboto grill. best edaname ever! lobster shooters are awesome. cocktails were dynamite. everything from the ambiance, service, food quality, cocktails, wine list, even price, is just spot on. we will return again and again.

food is always excellent. the service and hostess staff are terrible. i endure the lack of service for the food.

beautiful and tasty. the new space is both spacious and beautiful with shadows and textures ever changing in all directions. three bars inside with a rooftop bar yet to open. the food was excellent and they have definitely raised the bar with their preparations.

get the bomb. i just moved to nashville 4 months ago...i heard from 3 people (in different circles) that this was the place to go for sushi. not much for the super trendy atmosphere, but the sushi was some of the best i have ever eaten. if you want to try and find a great sushi place in nashville, you have to give this place a fair shake...all their stuff (from edamame to the sushi, to the chocolate between the sheets) was excellent. great service too.

my new craving..... i have never liked sushi and have never planned on liking it either. i have been to virago more than a few times throughout the years and have always enjoyed the ambiance of the place. however, i always got the stone steak (absolutely fabulous) as part of my refusal to eat raw anything. last week i tried the sushi here for the first time and i must admit (much to my dismay) that it was absolutely wonderful!!! thank you virago for making my first experience so great and i will definitely be back for seconds!!!

always love virago. virago is a sleek and modern restaurant/bar with excellent food. it seems to be a see-and-be-seen place, but the most important thing is that the food truly is wonderful. the sushi rolls are fantastic and they also look beautiful when they are served. the godzilla roll and the dynamite roll are among my favorites. some may think it's a little pricey, but it is well worth the price. the food has always been hot and freshly made. they offer sushi rolls, sashimi, japanese dishes….and they also offer teriyaki sliders and onion rings on the menu. i've tried the sliders and onion rings and they are delicious as well! the downside is the wait time. each time i've been, there was a long wait for a table even with a reservation. the bar area is nice place to wait, but usually full of other people who are there to be seen and people who are waiting for a table. in my opinion it's well worth the wait. so i would say eat early to try to avoid it. it's not the friendliest place, but for the most part the staff is cordial. i've had very friendly servers there as well as some who are not so friendly.

this place has some great sushi but ever since it went 21 & up and allows smoking, i can not go anymore. nothing is worth dealing with all the smoke and smelling for the rest of the night.
