rude hostess. food was just okay for the price and the amount given. waiter was super friendly and informative, but the hostess was very rude and snooty. she never acknowledged us when we entered the restaurant and just ignored us, then asked us what we were waiting for--umm.. atable!!!

beautiful space bad management. went to virago on a friday, around 6 pm. no one was sitting outside, asked if our party could be seated outside, one host said yes one said no. hmmm. so ultimately we sat at atableoutside, 5 people. immediately a server demanded to know why were sitting at thetableand who said we could. we told them the host, to which he replied which one. really? has anyone heard the way to win customers is be nice and accommodating? within minutes a wormy guy in a suit came out and introduced himself as the manager and he "needed to inform us" that 5people are not allowed at thistablebut....he will allow it. against my wishes we stayed. the food was great, our server was great despite spilling a tray of full champaign glasses on a member of our party. if you want to go to virago demand good and polite service. they need to learn that being nice is how to run a business not the elitist snobbery they preformed before my party.

great night out. i wanted to come here for my birthday. we made reservations and walked straight to ourtablewhen we walked in. the atmosphere is the first thing you'll notice - it was very trendy, the service was fantastic, and i very much enjoyed every second.

we had the lobster shooters (lobster bites were disappointingly small, so be prepared that it's just soup), were were a bit disppointed in our appetizer, so we also got the mushroom and prawn robatayaki (mushroom was our fav, both were small), my boyfriend got the shanton udon (duck meatballs - this was fantastic, but presentation was unexpected - it was soup!), and i got the bomb made extra spicy (amazing roll, but $20 for a small 8-piece sushi roll? disappointed.).

you can get more sushi for your money many other places, but it's worth a trip for the entire experience - if you're prepared to pay a lot for it. i'll go back, but it won't be for the sushi alone.

not special. had a group meet at virago to celebrate a friend's birthday - and was embarrassed by the end. 1) we are in nashville, not chicago or new york. the sushi was good but the prices are ridiculous. $45 for a beer, a roll and an appetizer is insane. 2) it would have been great to have the hostess tell us before taking the cupcakes we brought and sitting down that they would later charge a $25 "cake fee" to deliver them to ourtablewith no plates, no service, etc. 3) our waiter was inept, mixed up orders, reached across guests constantly and was plain rude. thanks for vacuuming near the birthday girl as she tried to take pictures with her friends.

all in all, virago was anything but classy and lost a chance to impress a dozen 20-somethings (who i assume they are trying to appeal to?)...

will not go back! you will pay for a beautiful atmospher, but you can get much better sushi all over nashville. our server said items could be made with specific ingredients, only to come back and say no they couldn't. one of our rolls was dropped on the floor at ourtable- it was remade of course, but no offer for comp or discount of any kind. our server offered to waive the $20 fee for bringing our own dessert for the birthday we were there to celebrate, only to have a manager come to ourtableand say that he never approved that (we had to take our dessert outside after paying our bill). i high hopes, but was beyond disappointed in several ways.

fun place to go. i was hesitant on going to virago as i am not a big fan of asian fusion foods. so i was very impressed when the first dish that came out which was the pistachio hamachi, was one of the best things i have ever tasted. the stone steak was entertaining to cook at thetableon top of hot rocks. thewaygu beef really didn't need to be cooked because it was already full if flavor and was extremely tender. the sake brussels were okay and the asparagus bacon was okay but everything else made it a great experience!

always love virago. virago is a sleek and modern restaurant/bar with excellent food. it seems to be a see-and-be-seen place, but the most important thing is that the food truly is wonderful. the sushi rolls are fantastic and they also look beautiful when they are served. the godzilla roll and the dynamite roll are among my favorites. some may think it's a little pricey, but it is well worth the price. the food has always been hot and freshly made. they offer sushi rolls, sashimi, japanese dishes….and they also offer teriyaki sliders and onion rings on the menu. i've tried the sliders and onion rings and they are delicious as well! the downside is the wait time. each time i've been, there was a long wait for atableeven with a reservation. the bar area is nice place to wait, but usually full of other people who are there to be seen and people who are waiting for a table. in my opinion it's well worth the wait. so i would say eat early to try to avoid it. it's not the friendliest place, but for the most part the staff is cordial. i've had very friendly servers there as well as some who are not so friendly.
