i received poor service from the hostess and manager.. i called in advance for a 7p reservation on saturday night, i was told that was not an option but they had a 7:30p we received. i accepted. we all arrive about 5 minutes to 7:30p. the 1st issue was the hostess did not speak or acknowledge us as we walked in she spoke to the couple that walked in right after us and seated them immediately. as i stood at the hostess counter it was another couple minutes as another hostess who was holder the door letting all customers in greets me and states it will be a couple minutes before we will be seated. after about 6 minutes we are told thetableis being cleaned off. after about 15 we are told thetableis not ready and she needs to speak to the manager on how to handle our reservation. she returns and states we are trying to find you a seat or will ask the current seated people to move. from the bar we can see there is atablethat will sit 8 that will accommodate our party of 5 but it was not offered to us, but i'll come back to that later. it not 17 minutes after our reservation and i refuse to leave, we will be served. i start wondering if they are treating us like this because we are the only blacks in the building being serviced. but i don’t play the race card, i keep it professional. the hostess and the manager tell me they called me to change my reservation but i didn’t have a missed call or voice mail. the manager tells me i must have given them the wrong number or it was taken down properly. well i don't get why you would call and tell someone you are moving them to an early reservation seems kind of weird to me but i shall move on. the finally sit us 20 minutes after our reservation and it’s at a roundtablefor 4 and we are a group of 5 thetableis set for 4 and she has to go find us a 5th chair so we all can be seated. then manager offers us an appetizer for the confusion. oh i remember thattableof 8 a group of 6 came in after us and we seated at thetable5 minutes after they squeezed us in thetableof 4, as arsenio hall would say “things that make you go hmmm”. the entire time i feel like the manager is watching thetableand of course she came at the end to let me know she confirmed her hostesses called me and told me to come earlier and i was mistaken. so i am not sure if this night was a series of unfortunate events or it was about the color of our skin, but the waiter was excellent and everyone enjoyed the food.
i hope mgmt takes time to read this message and makes necessary adjustments so no one else has the experience i received.
