one of my girlfriends told me to come to the moon because the beer was great and they had cool things like music bingo, wing night and great service. upon going there for my first time with my mother, it seemed pretty cool. i got served by a woman with arm tattoos who was a bit rude and barely came around to our table although it wasn't busy! come to find she had been behind the bar on her phone the whole time we were waiting for another drink and had dirty dishes on the table. i thought it was very unprofessional all together. i will give this place another try at some point down the road, the food was perfect and the (dunkel) was great! i just really hope i get betterservicenext time and that this isn't happening to everybody that goes there.....



update. this place sucks even worse than it did a year ago. do not go here. the kitchen staff are gross looking and i've seen things cooling in the dusty hall which is not food safe. the owner is a complete psycho and i do not recommend to anybody that isn't going there just to get wasted.

best onion rings in my life. the first time i came here with a friend, we were unaware that it was an english style pub so we sat there for 20 minutes without anyone approaching us to inform us of the "order at bar" process. we ended up leaving in frustration without ordering anything. i decided to give this place another try a year later and this time theservicehad much improved. someone greeted us right away, informed us of how the ordering worked and we were served right away. the onion rings were literally the best i've ever eaten. the batter was extremely light, crispy and refreshing in the sense that it didn't give you the fatty saturated feeling when you know you ate a heart-attack meal. i was also impressed with the veggie burger which had a really flavourful and large patty. the burger was warm and soft and a really large sized portion too. definitely recommend this place and will go back.

our last brewery visit of the trip was at moon under water. i’ve seen their bottles at the liquor store and like the design but it’s a mixed bag when it comes to how their beers taste. we dropped in on a monday (around 3:45pm). it wasn’t busy and oddly, their beer pub was closed (even though there were people inside). we went informed to go to the restaurant instead.servicewas brutal; our waitress messed up our flight and didn’t bother to tell us anything about the beers that we had ordered. we weren’t impressed.

this is a bustling and successful pub with great beer on tap.  great appies.  they also have pretty good wings on wing night -  well-sauced and decent sized.  i feel their menu is well-priced for the quality of the food.  if you like pub classics - burgers, fish and chips, soups, salads, a great variety of appies - then it's worth a try.  it's definitely classier than some greaseball pub food but still comfortable.  my critiques are that it is always too busy in the evenings!  like come on victoria, could you please forget about this place a little bit?  so they could maybe use more seating.  also it smells like rotting death outside due to the aroma of the dumpster.  i don't know how they could fix it but i notice it every time. servicecan be a little slow but i think it's just cause they're so busy.

went here with pretty high expectations after friend recommended the place, was highly disappointed. chicken wings were dry and un flavourful. beer was okay.servicewas non existent . rest of the food we ordered wasn't that great at all. won't be going back.

i had been wanting to try this pub for sometime and had high expectations. went on a monday night and beer and food specials were quite good and very reasonably priced. butservicewas aweful. waitress made us feel like it was a huge chore to take our orders. she even spilt beer all over me and didn't even comp that beer (i'll have a $30 dry cleaning bill to cover it). there was no paper towel in the men's washroom and it was dirty. maybe it was holiday temp staff or something but really disappointing and i'll never go back.

a little harsh. i've allwasy enjoyed my self here and as a patron and former employee i think the last review was a bit harsh, well there is no excuse for badserviceor bland food i still hold high hopes for the potential of this place. i think for better or for worse they are in a traditionary period for sure, i'll definitely be back for wonderful wing night and great burgers.

mixed feelings. i've been to the moon under water several dozen times now as it's near my house, and i have to say that my biggest complaint is their inconsistency. theserviceis always hit or miss. it seems like they don't schedule enough staff a lot of nights, or have had some staffing issues as quite often theserviceis really slow and sub-par; however it's quite visible that the servers are working their butts off and running around like crazy trying to get to all the tables. other times the servers have been really friendly and attentive. i've been served by the older women the last few times i've been there, and find her to be unapproachable and inattentive, so i was surprised to learn she was the owner. i find the same inconsistency with the food. i usually always order the beet salad. it's a delicious salad, but always changes in presentation and ratio of ingredients. i also often order their onion rings which can be absolutely out of this world, but have arrived cold or excessively greasy several times. i really want to love this place, especially since it's my only neighborhood option other than spinnakers, but it's been difficult when you never know what to expect when you go there. i've stopped recommending it for that reason. one thing that has always been consistently great is the beer. although, one complaint about the beer is that they do not have separate taps for growlers with extra carbonation, so my beer was flat by the time i got to drink it later that night. for that reason i go to spinnakers to get my growlers filled, although i mush prefer moon's beer.

getting better and better. every since the change of ownership this place has been getting better and better. while i would rate the food anything above "pub" level (but, to be fair, it *is* a pub), the beer is great. the additional guest taps offer a great selection for a brewpub.

service can be a little slow if it's busy.

a good (re)start. i had gone once to the pub before the new ownership took over and had such a terrible time that i had sworn off returning *and* purchasing any of their beer (it was that bad). i recently heard about the new ownership and decided i'd let them get their feet wet before i'd return, which i did last night.

the atmosphere has been greatly improved. actually feels like a proper pub now (not sure what the previous owners were thinking). between two of us, we had some wings, burger (chicken and oyster) and a couple of beers (i had the potts pils which was great).

theservicewas probably slower than it should be for a 1/2-2/3 full restaurant, but we managed to occupy our time well enough.

the food was average, i'd say. it is pub fare, afterall. the chicken on the burger looked a little too formatted to be a nice fresh cut of chicken, so i assume their using some frozen meat of some kind. the bacon on the burger was thick and plentiful which was nice.

would love to see the food quality step it up a notch, i'll probably return. will definitely be buying some more of their beer, at least!

great food, superb beer and amazingservice!. my wife and i went to moon under water pub and brewery last thursday nite for "the burger flip". this is where your order a burger, the kitchen decides what to serve you and you get to flip a coin to see if you pay full price ($16) or half price ($8).

my burger was a delicious, huge beef burger with mushrooms, onions, cheese and greens. it was perfectly cooked and seasoned. i did get to choose my side which was a vegetable soup in a large bowl; quite delicious. at the end i flipped and won !

my wife had a bowl of fries (which was $6), very large portion and delicious. they had an aioli and seafood sauce on the side for dipping.

i had the beer sampler ($8 for a sample of all their beers (4 x 5 oz)) and i paid an extra $2 to try the 5th beer (seasonal).

then i had a "guest beer" (brewed by another micro brewery) it was a green flash brewing co.'s west coast ipa. very nice, and very hopsy for $6.

we had a great time and again, thank you christina! we will be back, i promise!

tried it twice won't ever go back. lack of tableservicemakes no sense, especially when not busy. neither food nor beer that great, nor was the place fun. not a proper pub, not a proper restaurant.

better than average pub fare. it's an unlikely location for a pub, perhaps because breweries are not permitted uses downtown. but when you find your way through the industrial miasma of rock bay, there is moon under water with delicious food. we enjoyed a huge chicken club with crunchy fries, and an inventive beet (two colours) salad with deep fried balls of goat cheese and a tasty grilled chicken breast on top.servicewas prompt, place seemed cheerful and we went away satisfied.

the food & beer are great but anytime i come here and there's more than a couple tables in here theserviceis awful. it shouldn't take 15 minutes to get a beer. it's clearly busy enough here in the evenings hire some more servers!

went with my bookclub and they reserved us a nice table by the fireplace. the food was great and theservicewas very friendly. i had their ipa whichi really enjoyed. if you like craft beers you can't go wrong here. they also have cider on tap. will definitely add this place to my favourites.
