the moon under water pub & brewery

was here on a long weekend saturday night and not very busy. location hurts what is an excellent brew-pub.
had the best bitters; and they are the best i've had in victoria :-) perfect mix of turps, phenols and florals and only 3.8 % abv so you can enjoy and not be too wasted.
food is also good ( but love the beers).

one of my girlfriends told me to come to the moon because the beer was great and they had cool things like music bingo, wing night and great service. upon going there for my first time with my mother, it seemed pretty cool. i got served by a woman with arm tattoos who was a bit rude and barely came around to our table although it wasn't busy! come to find she had been behind the bar on her phone the whole time we were waiting for another drink and had dirty dishes on the table. i thought it was very unprofessional all together. i will give this place another try at some point down the road, the food was perfect and the (dunkel) was great! i just really hope i get better service next time and that this isn't happening to everybody that goes there.....



update. this place sucks even worse than it did a year ago. do not go here. the kitchen staff are gross looking and i've seen things cooling in the dusty hall which is not food safe. the owner is a complete psycho and i do not recommend to anybody that isn't going there just to get wasted.

best onion rings in my life. the first time i came here with a friend, we were unaware that it was an english style pub so we sat there for 20 minutes without anyone approaching us to inform us of the "order at bar" process. we ended up leaving in frustration without ordering anything. i decided to give this place another try a year later and this time the service had much improved. someone greeted us right away, informed us of how the ordering worked and we were served right away. the onion rings were literally the best i've ever eaten. the batter was extremely light, crispy and refreshing in the sense that it didn't give you the fatty saturated feeling when you know you ate a heart-attack meal. i was also impressed with the veggie burger which had a really flavourful and large patty. the burger was warm and soft and a really large sized portion too. definitely recommend this place and will go back.

our last brewery visit of the trip was at moon under water. i’ve seen their bottles at the liquor store and like the design but it’s a mixed bag when it comes to how their beers taste. we dropped in on a monday (around 3:45pm). it wasn’t busy and oddly, their beer pub was closed (even though there were people inside). we went informed to go to the restaurant instead. service was brutal; our waitress messed up our flight and didn’t bother to tell us anything about the beers that we had ordered. we weren’t impressed.

this is a bustling and successful pub with great beer on tap.  great appies.  they also have pretty good wings on wing night -  well-sauced and decent sized.  i feel their menu is well-priced for the quality of the food.  if you like pub classics - burgers, fish and chips, soups, salads, a great variety of appies - then it's worth a try.  it's definitely classier than some greaseball pub food but still comfortable.  my critiques are that it is always too busy in the evenings!  like come on victoria, could you please forget about this place a little bit?  so they could maybe use more seating.  also it smells like rotting death outside due to the aroma of the dumpster.  i don't know how they could fix it but i notice it every time.  service can be a little slow but i think it's just cause they're so busy.

this is a great little brewery and pub! amazing food and beers. i really like their new sour beer, super delicious! if your in for a meal, you can order food and ask for a tour of the brewery. it's fun and by the time your done the tour your food is ready!

went here with pretty high expectations after friend recommended the place, was highly disappointed. chicken wings were dry and un flavourful. beer was okay. service was non existent . rest of the food we ordered wasn't that great at all. won't be going back.

such an awesome pub. creepy uncle dunkel was delicious. it's a dark beer, but it doesn't taste dark. the appetizer was delicious. moroccan pork bites. i'm glad we shared it, as the portion was huge!

moon is my favourite go to pub!!! creepy uncle dunkel is a beer that i crave and their hot wings are delicious. it's a small family run place which keeps you coming back!!!

i was pleasantly surprised with this place. the beer i had was 20 oz and was like $5 and it was delicious. i then had a burger with it, which was also great. it's a smaller place but i found as well that our server was very friendly and attentive. i will definitely go back.

awesome veggie burger. holy cow!!! (pardon the pun), the veggie burger rocks! i've only been to moon under water once, but it was recommended by a friend that i try the veggie burger and they were not kidding! i will be back and it will be hard not to have it again. beer is good too!

i had been wanting to try this pub for sometime and had high expectations. went on a monday night and beer and food specials were quite good and very reasonably priced. but service was aweful. waitress made us feel like it was a huge chore to take our orders. she even spilt beer all over me and didn't even comp that beer (i'll have a $30 dry cleaning bill to cover it). there was no paper towel in the men's washroom and it was dirty. maybe it was holiday temp staff or something but really disappointing and i'll never go back.

5 of us had dinner and we all agreed...very average...average chili, average blue moon burger, average fish and chips. nice server but won't be back any time soon and wouldn't recommend.
