the moon under water pub & brewery

our last brewery visit of the trip was at moon under water. i’ve seen their bottles at the liquor store and like the design but it’s a mixed bag when it comes to how theirbeerstaste. we dropped in on a monday (around 3:45pm). it wasn’t busy and oddly, their beer pub was closed (even though there were people inside). we went informed to go to the restaurant instead. service was brutal; our waitress messed up our flight and didn’t bother to tell us anything about thebeersthat we had ordered. we weren’t impressed.

great place for a beer and a burger.. love this place. the beer is amazing, and what goes well with a beer (or three)? a burger of course. washed down with a couple more of their excellent, brewed on the premises,beersor guest ales. one thing victoria does well is brewpubs and this is one of the best. the simple décor and the location in the middle of an industrial estate just emphasise the excellence of the beer. did i mention they make good beer? looking forward to a few visits when i return to victoria next month.

getting better and better. every since the change of ownership this place has been getting better and better. while i would rate the food anything above "pub" level (but, to be fair, it *is* a pub), the beer is great. the additional guest taps offer a great selection for a brewpub.

service can be a little slow if it's busy.

a good (re)start. i had gone once to the pub before the new ownership took over and had such a terrible time that i had sworn off returning *and* purchasing any of their beer (it was that bad). i recently heard about the new ownership and decided i'd let them get their feet wet before i'd return, which i did last night.

the atmosphere has been greatly improved. actually feels like a proper pub now (not sure what the previous owners were thinking). between two of us, we had some wings, burger (chicken and oyster) and a couple ofbeers(i had the potts pils which was great).

the service was probably slower than it should be for a 1/2-2/3 full restaurant, but we managed to occupy our time well enough.

the food was average, i'd say. it is pub fare, afterall. the chicken on the burger looked a little too formatted to be a nice fresh cut of chicken, so i assume their using some frozen meat of some kind. the bacon on the burger was thick and plentiful which was nice.

would love to see the food quality step it up a notch, i'll probably return. will definitely be buying some more of their beer, at least!

great food, great beer!. i came to moon under water and loved it! from the craftbeersto the amazing food, i couldn't get enough. the bleue moon wings wer incredible, so juicy.

hmm. first i would like to say that i have been here a few times in the past couple of months, and all of thebeershave been getting better and better every time they come out with a new one, and the food is coming out fast, and very delicious.

i would also like add, that i tried getting a job here a while back, as my friend told me to apply, and even with all the right credentials, i did not get hired. as i later found out, it was due to the fact that i am a smoker. to all you smokers (great at your job or not) do not even try and apply here. because the discriminating owners will not hire you.

the management needs a tune up, because the past times my friend and i have gone there, we almost felt unwelcome by the woman (owner) at the bar, who glared at us more often than not. not going back until the management gets a change of attitude. thanks!

great food, superb beer and amazing service !. my wife and i went to moon under water pub and brewery last thursday nite for "the burger flip". this is where your order a burger, the kitchen decides what to serve you and you get to flip a coin to see if you pay full price ($16) or half price ($8).

the service from christina was impeccable. christina was very knowledgeable about theirbeersand food and made our night even more special! cheers christina and thank you !

my burger was a delicious, huge beef burger with mushrooms, onions, cheese and greens. it was perfectly cooked and seasoned. i did get to choose my side which was a vegetable soup in a large bowl; quite delicious. at the end i flipped and won !

my wife had a bowl of fries (which was $6), very large portion and delicious. they had an aioli and seafood sauce on the side for dipping.

i had the beer sampler ($8 for a sample of all theirbeers(4 x 5 oz)) and i paid an extra $2 to try the 5th beer (seasonal).

then i had a "guest beer" (brewed by another micro brewery) it was a green flash brewing co.'s west coast ipa. very nice, and very hopsy for $6.

we had a great time and again, thank you christina! we will be back, i promise!

was there tonight with a couple of friends for dinner. they had a good variety of in housebeersplus several guestbeersfrom other craft brewers. i went with the hefe which was really quite good. my friends had burgers and i had the salmon and chips which was cooked perfectly and accompanied by lots of fries. all and all, great beers, above average pub food and good service. a hidden gem.

went with my bookclub and they reserved us a nice table by the fireplace. the food was great and the service was very friendly. i had their ipa whichi really enjoyed. if you like craftbeersyou can't go wrong here. they also have cider on tap. will definitely add this place to my favourites.

cool place. ive been to the moon under water brewpub a few times now and always enjoy the friendly atmosphere.
the burgers are to die for and the nachos are fantastic. desert specials are great too, and let's not forget the beer! the samplerbeersare fun to order and you can't beat the value on the take home growler.

still waters run deep. first timer who went in on saturday night. i like all the parking and off the beaten path location. staff were friendly andbeerswere tasty. they even let us sample severalbeersbefore we made our decision. enjoyed some quality live music in a nice chill environment. had the opportunity to talk to one of the owners and got to know a bit more about the place. i will go back and try the food, which is all made from scratch, and the pool room. it's different, but that's what i like.

...advertised as an “english-style” pub it doesn’t look or feel particularly english and the menu is caught somewhere between the old & new worlds. it’s neither coronation street nor clockwork orange but the food is hearty and filling and their session ales are the best englishbeersi’ve tasted in the three years since coming home.

yourbeersare the freshest in vic, your food is authentic and delish. the atmosphere can't be beat for tippin a pint with your mates!

delicious! english style service adds a nice level of comfort.beersare super smooth! take your friends and you can leave your car there. no towing!

good in theory.... my partner and i tried this place out last friday. some things were good and some things were bad.

good: 1) the beer selection was really small but we tried two of the threebeersthat they currently had on tap and they were both good; 2) despite being fairly busy, our order was placed quickly (english style pub service) and our food came to the table within 15 min; 3) my partner's fish and chips were quite good.

bad: 1) the beer-battered onion rings were undercooked, with pockets of raw batter on the inside; 2) the black bean veggie burger was, hands down, the worst i have ever eaten - it was all but unseasoned, and fell apart into a pile of stewy mush when i tried to pick it up.

i would go back for a beer - the veggie burger though? never again.
