the moon under water pub & brewery

i don't get it?!. a pub in an industrial area with no view, no windows.both the food and beer are adequate. has the exact same ambiance as being in a dimly lit conference room. i don't get it.

went back and loved it!. ok, i went back and gave moon under water another try. not that my first experience was bad - i was just expecting a bit...more. in any case, i wasn't disappointed. the service still excellent and friendly, and this time the food was definitely something to write home about - or at least write on urbanspoon about. ;)

i had the bengali coconut curry (vegetarian) and it was fantastic. very flavorful, chock full of wonderful veggies, perfectly cooked rice, and a super delicious popdum on top. large portion - i'm stuffed. yup, a fab meal.

i liked it before, but i love it now!

nice place. i went for lunch on friday - nice atmosphere and friendly staff. i wanted to love my lunch (special: green curry) but found it a bit weak with regards to flavor. i found i kept adding salt, which is an extreme rarity for me. that said however, if the worst i could say is "my lunch needed salt" then i'd say this place is off to a great start.

i really enjoyed the atmosphere, the helpful, non-pretentious friendly server, and my meal wasn't too bad at all. i will be back to give this place another try!

really fabulous experience. really good beer and excellent food, i had the black bean burger and my partner had the fish and chips - both were excellent. will definitely be back!

i love the food, the atmosphere and the fact that the owners personally come to the table to see how everything is going! that connection with a family owned pub is awesome! love it!

...advertised as an “english-style” pub it doesn’t look or feel particularly english and the menu is caught somewhere between the old & new worlds. it’s neither coronation street nor clockwork orange but the food is hearty and filling and their session ales are the best english beers i’ve tasted in the three years since coming home.

could do better. we opted to visit the moon under water on a night when the stanley cup was being played as they advertise the fact that they do not have a big screen tv. we wanted a british style pint in peace, quite and pleasant surroundings. we got none of the above.
on entering we discovered a 'pub' with all the warmth and atmosphere of a big box store and between 20 and 30 people staring at a huge screen tv which was showing hockey. despite our disappointment we opted to stay and taste the draft beef.

although they say they are an english style pub they are actually a british style pub, in as much as you order at the bar, but offending the scots and the welsh was not considered before deciding on the description of service.
the beer we chose was their ipa and were shocked at how cold it was served. why go to the bother of brewing a decent pint and then freezing all the taste out of it? however, when left to reach a better temperature it was a tasty pint. hoppy but not overly so and not sweet either.
we did not eat, but the food being presented to others was well presented and looked good.
we would return to try their food but the atmosphere was so dreadful; the drab military pain, minimalist furniture style and high industrial ceiling, that it would have to be something really special to get us back again.

great food, beer and people - what's not to like?. nice brewpub - and they have onsite parking! the food was excellent and their brews are very tasty. you place your orders at the bar and food is delivered to your table. the room is bright and casual, with big tables and little nooks. a games room is adjacent. we were there before the lunch hour and had our choice of seating. by noon the pub was filling fast with lots of large groups - looks like a popular spot for people who work in the area.

we had really good burgers, and the pub bitter to drink. the bottles of ipa that came home with us were also pronounced to be excellent!

i went there to try it out, and it was okay. i did like the beer, it was reasonable priced. although i did not like the format of going up to get it yourself. i do understand that is the way it is in england, but i personally am not use to it

missing something... food was great! beer was good- not the best in town. the staff was excellent, and are trying hard to please. the atmosphere was just missing something.

impressed. very reasonable prices, the atmosphere / service are good and i liked what i ordered.
i had put through a special request for my order (curry plate with prawns) and the girl taking my order misunderstood so i didn't get what i had ordered. when i let her know, they corrected it right away and didn't charge for the difference. it would have only been a dollar or two but i think it was a nice gesture. the staff also came around often to ask how we were liking our food and making sure all was ok.
all in all i really liked it and i will go back again.

your beers are the freshest in vic, your food is authentic and delish. the atmosphere can't be beat for tippin a pint with your mates!

meh. i went there on a lunch break and ordered the chili w/ chips. it was really disappointing as it had almost no flavour at all. i had to pile on the salt and pepper to try and taste something as it was the blandest i have ever had, the service was good and atmosphere was ok. im not a big fan of the yeast smell from the micro brew. i dont smell that at any of the other places that do the same thing (canue club etc) not sure if i will give it another chance as there is so many great places in victoria to eat.

so so. they are trying. beer was just ok (we are absolutely spoiled for good brew in this town) and food just so so too. owner came over and said hello, friendly & welcoming. might give it another try, but nothing made it a "must go" location for me

delicious! english style service adds a nice level of comfort. beers are super smooth! take your friends and you can leave your car there. no towing!
