this was a walk up with no previews. warm day, wanted a beer and there it was, the beer saint. the servers were a little distracted but quick and just friendly enough. ordered a spicy moroccan chicken sandwich and the ruby red ale to wash it down. the patio facing n grandview highway was noisy at 4:30 but i preferred the street atmosphere to the music inside and the breeze under the trees was sweet.
the food came out in a timely fashion but the serving size was fairly small considering the price. good thing the beer came first. the flavor was generic with nothing really shouting "moroccan!!"...passable. this seems to be a trend where the atmosphere is supposed to be included in the meal price.
overall it was pleasant, but more due to the weather. if i did come back, it would be to enjoy a craft beer with a friend. theselectionis broad and decently priced.

great beerselectionof microbrews locally and along the west coast. only alibi room compares on the microbrew scene. if you love bud light etc please go somewhere else. this place is not for you. good food and specials and great place to watch the canucks

looking for the perfect burger&fish and chips. went here with t-bird on a monday. it was a canucks game&a beer craft night so it was super busy. t-bird and i found a seat&shortly after our waitress gave us menus. he ordered the burger with a beer& i ordered their fish and chips with a beer too. our waitress did good considering how busy they were. the burger was o.k same with my fish and chips.i did like how they served their fries. it wasn't bad but i've had better same with the burger. homemade patty i don't think so (please correct me if i am wrong). we can't call a date without dessert so we ordered deep fried cheesecake. i love cheesecake more then life it's self. but t-bird and i were greatly disappointed. it was philly cream cheese wrapped in i don't know what. the canucks did win the game bonus, but the food was o.k. our waitress did ask us how everything was and they do have a goodselectionof beer.
i would go back for beer and hockey. but that's probably the only thing.

wanting to do some day drinking, we chose “st. augustine” as our destination. a decision based on having heard great food reviews and knowing they had an extensiveselectionof beers in bottles and plenty more on tap. it is located within walking distance from the broadway connecting skytrain station, which makes it a great drinking stop. on the street corner with new black awnings and a striking logo it’s hard not to miss. an imagine of their namesake saint with a beer rim for a halo. the staff wore the same logo and the same name across their shirts and hoodies as part of their dress code.

great beerselectionand even better nachos. awesome atmosphere for watching the game. the downside if you are going solo, the bar is not a comfortable one to sit at. and only a few seats.

i love beer, so with their amazing local beer menu, this place has been on my hit-up list for awhile. it did not disappoint. such a greatselectionof beer. the added bonuses here were: 1) fun, busy atmosphere on a hockey night 2) good food! which i thought would be compromised because of the awesome beer. we had to wait about 30 minutes for a table, and our server wasn’t very attentive, but it was very busy. i really enjoyed the fried brussels sprouts and tofu mushroom lettuce wraps, i’d go back just for them. my friends liked their beet salad and burger, but i think that i won food-wise.

josh loves beer. so, there’s honestly no better place to take him but st. augustine’s. i blogged about craft, tap and barrel and hop and vine but felt really guilty i’ve never really mentioned commercial drive’s picks. which are significantly better. i’ve been to biercraft and st. augustine’s many times before, but i haven’t actually ever blogged about it! st. augustine’s has a lot of craft beer to offer. they keep a percentage posted of how much they have left on screens and online. i hands down think that st. augustine’s rotates and has betterselectionthan craft market and tap and barrel. yes, craft has a huge list. but it doesn’t really seem to change or seem as interesting as what st. augustine’s picks. i find if you’re a newcomer to craft beer, than yes, craft and tap and barrel are a good start. but the food is really good here. my review of craft reveals their horribly slow service. tap and barrel is a bit pricey. but st. augustine’s is just right. it explains why it’s always

go for the beer, skip the food. avoid friday and saturday nights for an excellent relaxing experience with the bestselectionof beers in vancouver. rotating taps beat all other bars in town, check the website to 'know before you go' on the live beer menu. i prefer it to the alibi room - but you will starve if you stay at st. aug's for food, and your wine/hiball friends will not appreciate it, either. the dip trio is ok, if you order extra bread - everything else has been a rip off or substandard.

great time, as always.. went there on saturday night and had a good time, as always, once we'd refused to be seated around the corner where you can't see anyone or anything.maybe i have low expectations or standards , but i've always had good service, good food and good beer here.my pizza was tasty and hot.my wifes beef stew likewise. they had the amazing parallel 49 n2 nitro stout so i ordered 2, one to drink while the other warmed up to the correct (room) temperature. the waitress was friendly and efficient and the whole evening went by very pleasantly.craft beer market has a biggerselectionof beers but their food and drink prices are ridiculous and the staff and clientele at st. augustine's are much nicer. i'll keep coming back!!

unfair treatment. in short:
this place is defin not worth the wait, over priced and so-so food. goodselectionof beer but there are other places for that too. stupid waitress and/or possibly was at the end of an act of racism but i'm really hoping these waitresses are above that, this is vancouver.... never coming back again

this is why:
our party wanted to go to st aug. for wings on wed night. we've been here more often maybe a year ago and didnt have an issue making a rsvp or getting a table for a large group when we just stopped by but last night was just ridiculous. we called in earlier to make a rsvp but they said they did not accept rsvps for after 6pm . we got there before 6:30 and was told there were 5 groups ahead of us. okay, we knew it was gonna be a wait. maybe 20min in, they called in all the other groups before us already (including a group of 10). we're still left outside waiting. other people walked by us to put their name down and was soon called in as well. we look inside (because we had to wait outside in the freezing cold for a table) and see a long table empty for 1/2 hr already. we asked about that table and they said we're next in line and the'yre just setting up the table now. 10min later, they let another big group in and they settled down at that table. we've been waiting outside for about 50min now. and during this time, other groups of 3s and 4s get called in ahead of us. i finally decide to go inside to ask what's going on. they said we're basically waiting for the original group of 10 that was ahead of us to leave before we will get seated. i'm not sure how these waitresses are trained but that has got to be the stupidest way to organize seating ever. 1) they obviously do take rsvp because another group that came at 7pm took a table that has been empty for a long time. 2) waitress doesn't understand the concept of first come first serve or the idea of putting ur name down on a list and going down that list. there were tables that were freed within a couple min of each other but they decided to bypass us and give it to 2 separate parties.

an amazing pub experience. this pub is a quick skytrain ride from our place in burnaby and is super close to commercial skytrain station. the beerselectionis great and the food is really awesome considering it's a pub. the atmosphere is really great; no dirtbags or gangsters. the staff is pretty good, too.

a gem in east van.

don’t go for the wings. we did and regretted it. they were among the scrawniest driest buffalo wings i've ever had. one of the drumettes could have come from a quail (an older one at that). they have a substantialselectionof beer, but when asked for a taste of one of their more esoteric brews the server informed us that there was a law against giving away free alcohol. either this is a “law” unique to this establishment or they are the only ones that abide by it

beer o clock. this review is in three parts:
part one: beer.
the beerselectionhere is very good, i have never had a bad beer!
part two: food.
if the beer is st augustine strong point then the food is it's weaker point, it is inconsistent most of the time with the exception being the pizza, it is generally good.
part three: service
spotty at best. the beer is what keeps me coming back not the service.
