this was a walk up with no previews. warm day, wanted a beer and there it was, the beer saint. the servers were a little distracted but quick and just friendly enough. ordered a spicy moroccan chicken sandwich and the ruby red ale to wash it down. the patio facing n grandview highway was noisy at 4:30 but i preferred the street atmosphere to the music inside and the breeze under the trees was sweet.
the food came out in a timely fashion but the serving size was fairly small considering the price. good thing the beer came first. the flavor was generic with nothing really shouting "moroccan!!"...passable. this seems to be a trend where the atmosphere is supposed to be included in the meal price.
overall it was pleasant, but more due to the weather. if i did come back, it would be to enjoy a craft beer with a friend. the selection is broad and decently priced.

after reading some of the reviews i was a little hesitant to try this place but since its location fit in with some sunday afternoon plans i talked the bf into giving it a try. we were pleasantly surprised. i had the chicken chop salad which looked a bit anemic but was actually pretty tasty with roasted tomatoes and deep fried chick peas adding interest. my somewhat fussy bf declared himself to be impressed by the juicy flavourful burger. the food was a bit slow in coming but not absurdly so and the service was friendly and efficient. it's not the most exciting place to brunch but the food is solid and the prices are not out of line with other restaurants of this type. neither my bf or i regretted giving it a try and will probably be back to try the fried chicken which looked pretty good as it passed out table on its way to some other lucky customer.

great place to go for late night eats and for hanging out after work. the 4 beer flights are popular here and quite a few people order them. it's a great thing to try if you're into beer and want to try a bunch from pale ale to dark ale all in one go!

... a lovely brunch consisting of bennies. shrimp and avocado bennie. love how the potatoes are served in a little mock deep fryer basket.

great beer selection of microbrews locally and along the west coast. only alibi room compares on the microbrew scene. if you love bud light etc please go somewhere else. this place is not for you. good food and specials and great place to watch the canucks

great beer, decent food and good service. we had a great night out at st augustine's last night. we came because we'd heard the beer menu was good and were thoroughly impressed with the range. if you find 40 beers a little bewildering ask your server to pick a good selection.

contrary to a couple of reviews here we found the staff to be really good. the woman who served us (tall with glasses) was great, really helpful with some of our beer noobs and friendly through-out. i definitely didn't begrudge giving her a decent tip.

the food was nice; my wife had the pulled pork sandwich and looked very happy while scoffing it.

we'll be back

looking for the perfect burger&fish and chips. went here with t-bird on a monday. it was a canucks game&a beer craft night so it was super busy. t-bird and i found a seat&shortly after our waitress gave us menus. he ordered the burger with a beer& i ordered their fish and chips with a beer too. our waitress did good considering how busy they were. the burger was o.k same with my fish and chips.i did like how they served their fries. it wasn't bad but i've had better same with the burger. homemade patty i don't think so (please correct me if i am wrong). we can't call a date without dessert so we ordered deep fried cheesecake. i love cheesecake more then life it's self. but t-bird and i were greatly disappointed. it was philly cream cheese wrapped in i don't know what. the canucks did win the game bonus, but the food was o.k. our waitress did ask us how everything was and they do have a good selection of beer.
i would go back for beer and hockey. but that's probably the only thing.

ahhh st. augustine's... you gotta love a bar that semi-parodies a catholic church. well at least i do. i had drinks here with a close friend on his recommendation and i was certainly not disappointed! i knew i was in for a treat considering the place was packed on a monday night.  it took us both roughly 20 minutes or so just to get a table.  great beer and drink selection, i particularly liked the irish black stout that i ordered. the poutine i had wasn't overly greasy or smothered in gravy like most poutines. my s/p wings were on par with wings from cactus. though i have to admit i felt a bit cheated not getting the meatloaf my friend did (it looked amazing).  service was friendly and fast, the only trouble we really had was flagging down a server given how busy the place was at the time. food portions were generous, reasonably priced, and good quality. what more can you ask for in a bar really? st. augustine's its safe to say you have a new convert and he will definitely be back!

among the patron saints of brewers , four are extremely well known: augustine of hippo , luke the apostle , nicholas of myra (also known as saint nicholas , or santa claus) and the good king wenceslas , the latter two also providing a linkage to the winter season of merriment. augustine of hippo, now part of tunisia (born 354 ad, died 430 ad) was known for wild living and significant alcoholic beverage consumption prior to his conversion . his complete turnaround and life of moderation contributed to his becoming a patron saint of brewers. - beer history so..where can i sign up to be a patron saint of beer? sounds like a tough job but i can do it, promise. anyways, here i was with maurice not wanting to call it a night yet after an early dinner, and st. augustine's looked like the perfect excuse. the end cafe or something of the sorts used to occupy this place, but since the opening of st. augustine's, it's been pretty busy here. compared to alibi room

the food here is a little better than standard pub fair but their drinks menu is vast. this is one of my favourite places to go to try craft beer and have a casual bite. this place, alibi room and craft beer market come to mind as some of my faves of these types of places.

the salmon burger is truly the best i've had - i order it every time we go. perfect atmosphere for group events, but for some reason it is always very cold inside the restaurant. bring your coats!
