great place to go for late night eats and for hanging out after work. the 4 beer flights are popular here and quite a few people order them. it's agreatthing to try if you're into beer and want to try a bunch from pale ale to dark ale all in one go!

great beer selection of microbrews locally and along the west coast. only alibi room compares on the microbrew scene. if you love bud light etc please go somewhere else. this place is not for you. good food and specials andgreatplace to watch the canucks

great beer, decent food and good service. we had agreatnight out at st augustine's last night. we came because we'd heard the beer menu was good and were thoroughly impressed with the range. if you find 40 beers a little bewildering ask your server to pick a good selection.

contrary to a couple of reviews here we found the staff to be really good. the woman who served us (tall with glasses) was great, really helpful with some of our beer noobs and friendly through-out. i definitely didn't begrudge giving her a decent tip.

the food was nice; my wife had the pulled pork sandwich and looked very happy while scoffing it.

ahhh st. augustine's... you gotta love a bar that semi-parodies a catholic church. well at least i do. i had drinks here with a close friend on his recommendation and i was certainly not disappointed! i knew i was in for a treat considering the place was packed on a monday night.  it took us both roughly 20 minutes or so just to get a table.  great beer and drink selection, i particularly liked the irish black stout that i ordered. the poutine i had wasn't overly greasy or smothered in gravy like most poutines. my s/p wings were on par with wings from cactus. though i have to admit i felt a bit cheated not getting the meatloaf my friend did (it looked amazing).  service was friendly and fast, the only trouble we really had was flagging down a server given how busy the place was at the time. food portions were generous, reasonably priced, and good quality. what more can you ask for in a bar really? st. augustine's its safe to say you have a new convert and he will definitely be back!

this place is always busy, so make sure you get someone there to put in your name, it's worth it! they have agreatselection ofgreatbeers, and all of their food is amazing! i've had brunch, appies, and meals here and i've enjoyed all of it!

my boyfriend's coworker had a birthday party at st. augustine's bar. the bar is located on commercial dr. nearby commercial boardway skytrain station. it is agreatplace to go for the birthday party. people can eat dinner and watch the game at the same time. we've ordered nachos, chicken wings and the 4 beers flights since lots of people ordered them. it's agreatthing to try all the popular food in this bar.

wanting to do some day drinking, we chose “st. augustine” as our destination. a decision based on having heardgreatfood reviews and knowing they had an extensive selection of beers in bottles and plenty more on tap. it is located within walking distance from the broadway connecting skytrain station, which makes it agreatdrinking stop. on the street corner with new black awnings and a striking logo it’s hard not to miss. an imagine of their namesake saint with a beer rim for a halo. the staff wore the same logo and the same name across their shirts and hoodies as part of their dress code.

i love beer, so with their amazing local beer menu, this place has been on my hit-up list for awhile. it did not disappoint. such agreatselection of beer. the added bonuses here were: 1) fun, busy atmosphere on a hockey night 2) good food! which i thought would be compromised because of the awesome beer. we had to wait about 30 minutes for a table, and our server wasn’t very attentive, but it was very busy. i really enjoyed the fried brussels sprouts and tofu mushroom lettuce wraps, i’d go back just for them. my friends liked their beet salad and burger, but i think that i won food-wise.

rude service. we have been here a few times and bring friends and family from out of town to show them a good time. came here with my newly engaged cousin and fiancé. the server had said that she needed to seat us separately since there was 8 of us. we said that's fine. 5 mins after being seated the table next to us cleared up. we politely asked if our friends could switch tables. the waitress bluntly said no, you can not! and we said that's fine, we didn't mean to upset her. we did a swap of chairs so we could catch up with the other table. the pub is pretty crowded and it's normal for people to walk around. especially downtown pubs. the waitress walks over to us and starts yelling: look you said okay to tables being split and now you guys are making an issue about it! i don't know who you think you are but you agreed to split tables so sit in your seats!!

how embarrassing for us, for taking my cousin here. for thinking this was agreatplace at all. this place no longer suits the lifestyle of commercial. we weren't rude, we didn't even talk back. we were just in shock. there is a certain way to handle business and that is not the way. i launched a complaint to a manager and she stated there are rules guests must follow and she fully supports her waitress. i replied that we weren't loud or rowdy or drunk, we were completely sober and paying customer and that there is was a different friendlier and kinder way to inform us instead of yelling at us as if we are children. we are in our 30s fyi. our party days are long gone. i wouldn't support such an establishment that thinks that servers can take out their anger on customers. btw, the manager never replied me after that.

we were informed wednesday was the wings night. only $5 per pound? how could we resist such an offer? justine ordered salt and pepper wings as a lady always does not want to get too messy over too saucy. :) i went for the exotic choice of tamari ginger wings. wow, they were both really good! i just realized it had been a while since i enjoyed good pub chicken wings. salt and pepper wings were fried and seasoned perfectly, and they didn’t taste dry at all. tamari ginger wings won me over with the tons ofgreatflavours: sweet and savory and spicy. and i had sauce all over my fingers but i just didn’t care and kept eating. i kind of wish they could have offered finger bowl or wet tissue, but i probably shouldn’t be complaining because the wings were so delicious.

bad waitress. i’m a beer drinker and usually like this place, but after last night i won’t be going back. my girlfriend and i go and it’s too busy to get a table. i live close so we stand at the bar and get take out. there is a single seat so i sit down as i’m looking at the menu and we order. since there is only one seat available, and for some reason, we can only order one drink because ‘that’s the law’. i order food and while we wait i order a beer. the waitress proceeds to make fun of me and encourage my girlfriend that i’m a jerk for not buying her a drink instead, while we wait for ten minutes. i’m a beer guy and don’t get to go to this place often. i guess blowing $65 on take out isn’t good enough of a jester for the waitress and somehow i’m a bad guy for wanting to try a beer. i tipped 18% and felt dirty about it. won’t be going back any time soon, there are othergreatbeer joints on the strip to grab a drink and buy over priced food.

an amazing pub experience. this pub is a quick skytrain ride from our place in burnaby and is super close to commercial skytrain station. the beer selection isgreatand the food is really awesome considering it's a pub. the atmosphere is really great; no dirtbags or gangsters. the staff is pretty good, too.

a real dissapointment. commercial drive is known for it'sgreatfood and trendy places. this is not one of them, to the owners of this place people are wallets. i happened to comment to the staff and owners, that i was dissatisfied with one of their cask beers due to sediment in the beer. rather than trying to make me happy and offer me something else i was asked to leave. $12.00 was a cheap price to pay. p.s. the washrooms stink like the service.

great beer - mediocre food.. i have been to this place quite a few times- amazing beer list that is always rotating. which isgreatbut they always seem to rotate my favorite ones rather quickly.
a few of my friends are not beer drinkers and their wine list is not amazing in the slightest - so when i go out with them we tend to not come here.

i also just need to vent about their menu. while pub food is pub food - and natchos and wings are easy andgreaton certain days - i just have to say that their menu is not very inventive and does not really change much. i have a lot of friends with different dietary restrictions - which in this day and age are abundant and should already be accounted for on menus - and it is nearly impossible for them to get a decent meal at this establishment. there are literally no gluten free options - even their salads have deep fried breaded objects - which sure you can get without but then your salad consists of lettuce. my friend said "this is not acceptable for a popular place on commercial drive" and i agree. i eat everything - but it's nice to have some healthy and interesting menu items and options - which this place clearly does not have.

all in all it is agreatpub,greatservers - i have had lots of laughs with some of the girls but they desperately need some new menu items. until then we will eat somewhere nicer then come for the beer - unless of course we are wanting greasy pub food.
