1st time in. everyone in my party enjoyed their food & we had very good service. it was early so the servers weren't slammed. loved: my simple 50/50 (bacon goodness) & fried pickle chips. liked:frieswith bacon ketchup. bacon brownie. no like: onion rings were bland. iced tea was off...too strong maybe? reccomed to you: big, bacon filled yes. enjoy!

perfect mix of crisp dill pickle & crispy batter! i dip mine in ranch (so good!), but it comes with a nice mustard sauce.

furters, furters and furters!!!

was invited to another yelp event. when visiting a slater's 50/50 location i indulge in burgers, friesand vampire dip (amazing dip) but have never tried the furters. with this event i was given the opportunity to munch on a few of those furters and man were they delicious. the owner scott slater gave a little back history on how it all started before the bites arrived. he also talked about how it took him a while to craft the perfect furter...well scott, you nailed it! and with any slater's creation comes bacon, delicious delicious bacon which is a party all on its own lol.

before the furters arrived, we were treated to some slater'sfries& sweet potatofrieswith bacon ketchup and pumpkin sauce. the pumpkin sauce was interesting. a fellow yelper stated at the table that it paired well with the sweet potatofriesand she was right. the taste reminded me of a pumpkin spice frappe minus the coffee. for the bacon ketchup, it paired perfect with both. it's bacon!

shortly after the furters began rolling out one by one. to kick off this furter feast was the backyard 50/50 furter that was both wrapped and stuffed with bacon. absolutely delicious! not to mention the frank itself was plumped, juicy and flavorful all around. i also like the nice crunch when biting into the frank. next up was the abe froman which was introduced as an unauthentic take on a chicago style hot dog. it's introduction also came with a cool reference to ferris bueller's day off haha. i'd take this over an actual chicago style hot dog any day because they're missing one thing...the 50/50 furter and this bad boy is delicious. all the fixings from a chicago dog came on top adding more flavor. last up was the chili cheese ripper with guinness chili and beer cheese. the flavors of bacon and beer together = pure heaven!

after the furters a couple of surprises were brought to the table in the form of the original 50/50 burger and the peanut butter & jellousy burger. i'm no stranger to the 50/50 burger. it's the burger that started it all and it's great. it contains my favorite patty of choice when dining at a slater's, the beef & bacon blend patty. this was my first time trying the peanut butter & jellousy burger and it was pretty good. we were told to keep an open mind and top it off with vanilla ice cream. i live for trying fusion of foods so i was all in for it. given the peanut butter, jelly and ice cream...i considered this the dessert at the end of a meal.

can't wait to see what new items may come this year.

be ready to have a huge hamburger. the 50/50 is da bomb. the flavor is really tasty. i like the different ketchup's too bacon ketchup & vodka ketchup (my fav). my husband created his own burger which was ok. the meat seemed a tad tough in comparison to mine. thefries& onion rings were delish too! had the cucumber mojito and my husband had a beer. desserts sounds delish but there was no room to indulge on anything more! def. coming back as i saw some other dishes that caught my eye!

our service was fantastic, the restaurant was inviting, our food was 50/50. thumbs up for creativity, thumbs down for quality control. we started with slater'sfries& bacon catsup. thefriesarrived to our table cold and tasting old. the bacon catsup was the only part of the meal we enjoyed. the flamin' hot was not. my husband's 50/50 by design must have been enjoyed by another patron, as someone else's design came to our table. he finished less than half and did not care for the strange after taste of the pattie. great ideas poorly executed. perhaps our expectations were too high. i'd rather have a habit burger.

it was high time for me to visit slater’s 50/50. jake and i had heard kind of mixed things about the place – some people really liked it and some didn’t and some just thought it was okay. i had to decide for myself though and after a few failed attempts at visiting, jake, t and i went on that hella hot weekend we had a few weeks ago – when it was in triple digit temperatures. we went next door to ace hardware just for the a/c while waiting for our table. i do like their notification system – which sends you a text message to let you know when your table’s ready. very neat! we were seated in a corner table. pretty much my thoughts were, “gee, do they have enough tv’s in this place” must be an add person’s heaven. me? i thought it was distracting. but maybe i’m the only one (or maybe that’s the point). [ combination plate - onion strings, frenchfriesand panko fried mac n' cheese - $6.95 ] w

i can't believe no one thought of this already! pure genius! but certainly a vegetarian's nightmare! my sister had the pb&j burger & i designed a special chili burger. tried to make ourselves feel less guilty by having sweet potatofrieswhich are supposedly better for you than regular potato fries. still feel guilty....,,but really satisfied!

chili burger. it was amazing flavor-wise. i was really bummed that for $10 i didn't get anyfrieswith it. and then although it was really good, there was no physical way to actually pick it up and eat it.

bbwtlp. the people working there are really nice and know how to appologize. the kitchen on the other hand sucks, they screwed up our burger order, accually put the wrong patties on the burgers, no egg on my 50/50 burger, and the wrong cheese. the meat has no flavor, they could have at least put a little salt and pepper on it. the sweet potatoefriesand vampire dip are really good. the shakes are to thin.

not bad but.... ...i've been hitting a lot of gastropubs and places of a similar nature lately and this is just one in a line. their signature burger is pretty damned good but it's still lower on the shelf than umami. they have a pretty good beer slection as well but, once again, so does the haven or commonwealth lounge or the bruery, etc. i don't want to give the impression that the place was bad, it wasn't, but other than the fact that the 50/50 patty is made with 50% ground bacon the rest of the ingredients are just novelty. i mean a peanutbutter and jelly burger? really? granted i didn't order that and it may turn out to be the best thing i've ever had but i don't know - i find it suspect. anyways slater's is definitely worth the try but if you don't live near the place you probably won't be going back too soon. it's too far for a burger you can get at the haven or the crosby and you don't really need all of that crazy junk on a good burger anyway. oh and i forgot about the sides. the fried pickles were great but very greasy and the sweet potatofrieswere good as well but they give you ranch dip with the pickles. ranch dip? where are we, tgifriday's? at least give me a house-made ketchup or garlic aioli or something.

big burger for the big dog. this was my first time there and they explained the whole deal. got a 3/4 pound burger with the works(to much stuff to list) and sweet potatofries. the 5/50 burger patty was awsome. this was the biggest burger ive ever had. next time i might try the 1 pounder. to me its kinda like a small upscale ports bar.

love is in the air!.... my love for slater's as a whole. this is my new official restaurant because like me it is casual, hip, tasty, friendly, warm, and inviting. oh sure it is not fine dining, but as much as i love fine dining i don't think it necessarily defines me as well as this restaurant.

that being said i can now explain the love. oh slater's how do i love thee let me count the ways:

1. for all your choices, from beers, to toppings, to meats, to sides, to desserts, to ...

2. your genius down to earth owner who instead of hanging out in an office roams the restaurant ensuring that all of his guests are having the best experience possible.

3. your super nice, warm, inviting, and attentive staff. i experienced a first this evening from one of my favorite servers of all time! tracy (sp) while giving me some of the best service i have had of all time actually came over to my table and offered to cut my burger for me. she was brilliant and sweet. if i thought i actually had a chance i would have asked her to lunch some time. ask for tracy...she's awesome. i left her like a 45% well deserved tip! the other servers were awesome as well taking turns refilling my water or bringing me more of that scrumptious pumpkin dressing for my fries.

4. your eclectic and non-judgmental crowd.

5. flat screens playing lots of sports .

6. your brightly lit dining room that makes it easier to take photos.

7. did i mention how nice and helpful everyone was?

8. you also serve breakfast with lots of choices.

so onto the food. after many check marks, scratch outs, and erasures i finally constructed tonight's burger. the result: 1/3 pound perfectly cooked fire burger medium rare on a grilled ciabatta with mixed greens, american cheese, bacon, grilled onions, roasted green chilies, peppercinis, an over medium egg, and chili sauce with a side of chipotle mayo. i cut this bad boy in half with pure excitement while having the assist offered from tracy. i took my first bite and it was pure culinary ecstasy. the ingredients were so fresh they tasted as if they had come straight from the farmer's market. after my initial fear that i might not like my choices i realized i had hit a home run. my mouth was overcome with a swirl of flavors that instead of fighting with each other danced harmoniously in my most appreciative palate. i partnered my exquisite burger with their simply amazing sweet potato fries. thefrieswere nice and crunchy on the outside, sweet, and the insides were moist and piping hot. thefriescame with both a side of ranch and a side of their signature pumpkin dressing. i scarfed through two of the pumpkin dressings because it was so delectable! instead of the usual after dinner mints your server will provide mini burger gummies!

this was such a perfect experience for me that i actually considered deleting my reviews of the counter, burger bar, and bouchee's bistro, but alas today it's all about the love!

thank you scott and the staff of slater's 50/50 burger for procuring such a fine establishment. you are a business by which other businesses aspire to be!
