virginia and i went to slater’s 50/50 a whilebackand though it was my second time there, i had yet to write a review. with two trips that were both awesome, i felt like it was time. slater’s is a bacon lovers paradise no question, but it also has a lot of other things to offer. it is a bar and grill and it is huge so the wait time is not terrible and they have a huge selection of beer. almost a selection as large as yardhouse but with ten times better food. they also have delerium tremens which is one of my favorite beers which i first tasted at a sampling at bgsu. after a ten minute wait, which was not so bad on a football weekend, we sat do wn and got to ordering. the first thing i went for was a bacon bloody mary, it was brunch time so i felt like this was appropriate. i love bloody marys and was excited by the addition of bacon. it arrived after a few minutes and did not disappoint. they had put together a nice combination of spirits (bacon infused vodka), bloody mary mix, and sp

furters, furters and furters!!!

was invited to another yelp event. when visiting a slater's 50/50 location i indulge in burgers, fries and vampire dip (amazing dip) but have never tried the furters. with this event i was given the opportunity to munch on a few of those furters and man were they delicious. the owner scott slater gave a littlebackhistory on how it all started before the bites arrived. he also talked about how it took him a while to craft the perfect furter...well scott, you nailed it! and with any slater's creation comes bacon, delicious delicious bacon which is a party all on its own lol.

before the furters arrived, we were treated to some slater's fries & sweet potato fries with bacon ketchup and pumpkin sauce. the pumpkin sauce was interesting. a fellow yelper stated at the table that it paired well with the sweet potato fries and she was right. the taste reminded me of a pumpkin spice frappe minus the coffee. for the bacon ketchup, it paired perfect with both. it's bacon!

shortly after the furters began rolling out one by one. to kick off this furter feast was the backyard 50/50 furter that was both wrapped and stuffed with bacon. absolutely delicious! not to mention the frank itself was plumped, juicy and flavorful all around. i also like the nice crunch when biting into the frank. next up was the abe froman which was introduced as an unauthentic take on a chicago style hot dog. it's introduction also came with a cool reference to ferris bueller's day off haha. i'd take this over an actual chicago style hot dog any day because they're missing one thing...the 50/50 furter and this bad boy is delicious. all the fixings from a chicago dog came on top adding more flavor. last up was the chili cheese ripper with guinness chili and beer cheese. the flavors of bacon and beer together = pure heaven!

after the furters a couple of surprises were brought to the table in the form of the original 50/50 burger and the peanut butter & jellousy burger. i'm no stranger to the 50/50 burger. it's the burger that started it all and it's great. it contains my favorite patty of choice when dining at a slater's, the beef & bacon blend patty. this was my first time trying the peanut butter & jellousy burger and it was pretty good. we were told to keep an open mind and top it off with vanilla ice cream. i live for trying fusion of foods so i was all in for it. given the peanut butter, jelly and ice cream...i considered this the dessert at the end of a meal.

can't wait to see what new items may come this year.

be ready to have a huge hamburger. the 50/50 is da bomb. the flavor is really tasty. i like the different ketchup's too bacon ketchup & vodka ketchup (my fav). my husband created his own burger which was ok. the meat seemed a tad tough in comparison to mine. the fries & onion rings were delish too! had the cucumber mojito and my husband had a beer. desserts sounds delish but there was no room to indulge on anything more! def. comingbackas i saw some other dishes that caught my eye!

foodhumpers review of slaters 50/50.

went in with high expectations but left a little disappointed. i chose to visit slaters 50/50 based on the positive reviews. came here with a friend and we decided on the pbj burger and the flaming hot (waitresses recommendation) so we split the two in half so we could try both. service was good , however burgers not as tasty as i expected. the pbj was a dry , felt the same about the flaming hot as well. i knew the pbj would be a slight risk given that it's different so i was hoping the waitresses recommendation on the flaming hot would sway my opinion on this place. i usually base my foodpinion on how the first bite is and how the meal makes me feel after ( ie. am i craving more and do i want to come back). sadly as much as i wanted to love this place given its unique burger combos , i wouldn't comebacknor would i recommend it.

disappointing. first off, hate to burst your bubble, but their "peanut butter and jellousy" burger is not the be all end all of burgers. i found it to be just an okay flavor combination. the strawberry jelly clashed with the savory beefy flavor, and the peanut butter made the burger much too dry...i had to chew and chew and chew. i had to sendbackthe first burger, served stone cold, but the 2nd, served hot and rare was still a miss. i've also had their "b'b'b' bacon burger" and it had issues too. it was all bun really, and the bun was as hard as a rock. and weirdly enough, it lacked on bacon.
overall, their burger flavors are just off a bit and need some work. burger patties seem smaller recently than past photos i've seen of them. downsizing maybe?
service is always friendly and attentive. appetizers are excellent. beer selection is above average. their bacon mac n' cheese balls are addictive. their onion rings juicy and perfectly cooked, served with a delicious house-made bbq sauce.
this place is okay for a bite, but despite the massive crowds and all the hype, i found the burgers fell flat on their face.
skip it.

fun. went here on a lunch break, designed my own burger. it was delicious, the brioche bun was very soft and pillowy. it was a bit garlicky but that was more my fault for getting both vampire dip and garlic aoili on my burger haha. attentive waitstaff. can't wait to comebackand design more burgers. two of my lunchmates got the peanut butter and jelly burger and swore by it being delicious. i didn't try it but they both cleaned their plates.

slaters sucks at making burgers. we thought we would give them a second chance. food is the worst. just because it has bacon doesn't mean it will be better. dry dry and burnt on the bottom. really. i ordered it medium not even close. our waitress natalie was very good. otherwise this visit was the worst. we will not be back.. it's also a bar, so i guess if you have enough to drink you can't taste the food. i give the a 1 only because the service was good.

very unhappy!!!!!!. we made a trip from riverside to check this place out. very little handicapped parking. yes handicapped people do eat out. the place was packed. plenty of room in the bar area. but if your there for a burger, cramped quarters. the people in thebackare really packed in. not wheelchair friendly at all. then when they told us about the wait. well i wasn't willing to wait. realistically i'm about 15 minutes away from five guys. that's a no brainer. in all fairness. i will give them another try some day.

great place. this place pretty much only serves burgers and beer. the first two beers i picked, they were out of. when i asked the waiter for a suggestion he recommended two beers which i throughly enjoyed. i got the flaming hot burger. it was really tasty but not ridiculously spicy like i anticipated. my wife didn't like the beer she ordered (not their fault) and her burger came out more of a medium / medium-rare despite having ordered well done. so basically, i had a really great meal and would definitely gobackbut my wife was less than thrilled with her experience.

good food, poor customer service. a group of 20 of my friends made dinner reservations over a week ago at slater 50/50 to celebrate a birthday on saturday. the reservations were for 7pm and when we got there, another large party was also waiting for a table but they did not have a reservation. for some unknown reason the manager gave away our table to the other party, and told us that they would "make it up" to us by giving us a discount or free drinks. when all was said and done, we weren't seated until 8:30pm and the manager made it up to us by giving us a whopping $20 off on a $600 bill (not including the 18% gratuity automatically added to our bill). don't get me wrong, the food & drinks were good but if that's what the management thinks is appropriate customer service, we won't bebackanytime soon.

not bad but.... ...i've been hitting a lot of gastropubs and places of a similar nature lately and this is just one in a line. their signature burger is pretty damned good but it's still lower on the shelf than umami. they have a pretty good beer slection as well but, once again, so does the haven or commonwealth lounge or the bruery, etc. i don't want to give the impression that the place was bad, it wasn't, but other than the fact that the 50/50 patty is made with 50% ground bacon the rest of the ingredients are just novelty. i mean a peanutbutter and jelly burger? really? granted i didn't order that and it may turn out to be the best thing i've ever had but i don't know - i find it suspect. anyways slater's is definitely worth the try but if you don't live near the place you probably won't be goingbacktoo soon. it's too far for a burger you can get at the haven or the crosby and you don't really need all of that crazy junk on a good burger anyway. oh and i forgot about the sides. the fried pickles were great but very greasy and the sweet potato fries were good as well but they give you ranch dip with the pickles. ranch dip? where are we, tgifriday's? at least give me a house-made ketchup or garlic aioli or something.

i want to like it and will try it again. i actually really like this place. we were warmly greeted, i loved that they asked if we wanted to watch a particular games, with the 13 plus tvs on the wall. they have a beautiful bar, and i thought the service and explanation of the menu was very good. i thought who ever wrote the menu did an amazing job... so long as you did not cheat your way though kinder garden you will understand this otherwise complex menu. my disappointments are with a couple of the menu items and dirty bathrooms. i might have gone to bold by trying the thanksgiving burger, but, i couldn't resist the sound of it. the burger was a not so good turkey buger (seemed costco style) and mircowaved/ burnt tasting stuffing.) i will gobackto this place. there was way more good then bad, i might even try the thanksgiving burger again, it might have been an off day for the kitchen even flemmings makes mistakes.... bathrooms are old (which is not the problem) just un-kept. i have 2 kids that want to touch everything. i know as a parent i should stop them from touching, but, seriously, it was over the top disgusting in there.
considering this place has 6 only months under there belt, i was extremely impressed though.
