sea lounge - the taj mahal palace

the ambience, service and view are amazing. the food is a little disappointing though. the tart shells were soft and the puff pastry was soggy. like the blueberry madelines.

sea lounge has been a family favourite since the 1960s. today our experience was a terrible one on all counts! shoddy service, substandard food quality and absolutely unacceptable changes to classics like the veinnoise and club sandwiches. worse thing? no one seem to care. one junior staff came and parroted regular hotel apology lines.

the ambience of the sea lounge in the taj mahal palace is unparalleled. the buffet spread was amazing for the hi-tea and the food was equally delicious. you might have to arrive shortly after 3.30pm to get a seat by the window to be able to enjoy the view of the sea and the gateway of india because the lounge is a popular destination for guests. our server, pritwish was extremely courteous and helpful in offering us suggestions for dinner plans within our restaurants within taj. there was live music as well as an icing on the cake. overall a must have experience for anyone visiting the taj mahal palace.

the view!! omg!! the ambience and service was outstanding!! the breakfast spread was minimal compared to the breakfast at shamiyana. must visit for the ambience & experience.

the high tea is itself an experience, the staff is always willing to serve better. the menu has so many options and the quality is great. it's definitely worth an experience.

the legendary coffee shop with a fabulous view of the arabian sea.
if you are looking for a relaxing cuppa coffee with great snacks if perfect luxury this is where you have to be..
tried their makaibari tea which was served with amazing coconut and almond chip cookies.
also their veg mesclun salad tasted really good...the dressing was refreshing and totally worth it.
as all lux places a lil heavy on pocket but as its one of the most soothing places you will be in u gotta pay up.
p.s. go for the high tea buffet totally worth the price.

visited here on tuesday evening for high tea buffet...i suppose this is one of the rarest places famous for high tea buffet...

it has good ambience and staff is courteous... buffet spread is ok...food quality is also ok..visit this place for evening view...suited for family n friends..it usually full with tourists...

as you will enter the place you will see this dreamy decor with everything perfect all around, the walls, the frames, the doors even handles. i loved the interior of sea lounge

the best part is sea view from the side, this kind of view is not available any where else in india. it ultra gorgeous.

taj has maintained the heritage symbol quite honestly & also the legacy.

make sure to try there delicious ‘chocolate’ & ‘mango’ shake, probably the most refreshing i ever had.

after a spot of shopping on the ground floor, we decided to take a short tea break at the sea lounge, taj mahal palace in colaba, mumbai. walking up the (red) carpeted stairs transports you into an elegant world of high teas. the  place is graceful and sophisticated. high ceilings, beautiful arches, precious carpets, a musician gently playing the piano, you get the drift…

the hotel provides complimentary tea/coffee and snacks at the sea lounge for resident guests. we had the cappuccino and it was quite good. also, the cookies tasted great. it has a very good ambience with luxurious seating and a chess set to indulge yourself.

this is one of the best place in our country... i love it.. what can you expect out of a food place.. a great place to sit and superb food.. you get the best of them here.. while looking out to the ocean and gateway..

i love the taj tea and almond cookies... they are best in the town.. i don’t know how they make this tea but it is mesmerizing ..

ordered jamaican blue mountain coffee. got the table near the window. its really amazing place to be. the lounge is very spacious and tables are at proper distance. the coffee was at perfect temperature, and they gave some biscuits with it. the ambience is calm and serene. there are no loud people talking, you can just relax and enjoy the coffee with an amazing view of the sea.

security behavior at the entrance was very very rude. if one doesn't look rich, they start misbehaving.

when one thinks of taj mahal palace, we think of it as one of the finest hotel in india. does it really live up to its name? let's find out. the sea lounge is located at a beautiful place. the lounge boasts a stunning view of the gateway of india and the arabian sea. the settings inside the lounge is itself very luxurious. the staff via their service showcase the age old indian tradition of 'atithi devo bhavaha' which means guest is god. now let's come to the coffee. i visited the lounge at tea time. i had the jamaican blue hill coffee. the coffee came in a french press and was served with milk, sugar and some tasty sesame seed cookies. on the other hand the cold coffee who someone had ordered on my table had a lot of scope for better plating. the cold coffee wasn't​ up to 5star standard. even the hot chocolate wasn't feeling right but it was play. the coffee was the one thing that really stood out as it was probably the best coffee i've ever head. it had a really lovely aroma, a beautiful dark brown shade and had an amazing slightly sweet flavour. now let's come to value for money. the coffee, absolutely, the cold coffee, no and the hot chocolate was slightly over priced for the quality. but overall i feel that taj mahal palace is one of the finest hotels in india and that visiting the sea lounge will be a cherished experience and i would love to visit again.
