the worst afternoon tea experience!

- save your money and time and spend it in a high-end luxury restaurant for a real indian cuisine and a real taste of india. 
- low-quality bakeries, the bakeries in hotel taj bangelur were much better than a mumbai location. 
- old bakeries and very bad looking! (low-quality pastries)
- trashy food is being offered as afternoon sandwiches/food.
- super low-quality service
- rude and mean servers who hate serving customers
- one of the staffs who served us couldn't even understand ordering a simple drink from the menu in english, (not acceptable in an international hotel with american/international prices)
- don't recommend this place at all! 

save your time, your money, your day for a better place and experience in india. the staffs here are rude, mean, impolite and hate to serve you anything! 
you have to beg for a drink till they get it on your table! 
it took them 30 minutes to get a cup of tea from them and we asked for another tea, he just looked at his watch and told us we are closing very soon in 35 minutes :o:o:o:o:o:o and it took them another 20 minutes to bring the second cup of tea after asking several servers cause our server got disappeared somehow and when it came to tipping part he appeared again with a big smile and keep showing himself around. they were treating all the quests the same way, slow in providing service though there were ten of them always walking around and five of them always standing there.
they need to train their staffs for sure, i only had the same experience in cincin restaurant in vancouver canada (mean, impolite, rude staffs who think they are the gods and no one can fire them ever so they can treat customers in any way they want)! - please train your servers to serve people if you're charging $40+ usd per person for an afternoon tea in india! 
- offer higher quality food, pastries, cookies, drinks service
- this is not an experience which we were expecting from a taj hotel! 
- very disappointed and a waste of a day!

for a quick bite between the meetings i stopped at the sea lounge at the taj palace hotel colaba. what i ordered was a chicken club sandwich with watermelon juice. i personally liked the juice over the sandwich. for what it’s priced the sandwich was okay. but again the worth calculated also consists of the space i am eating at. i won’t say it was bad it was just so normal that when i paid the bill i was like ‘ could have skipped’ the staff was extremely nice courteous and friendly. also smiling :) the juice was also perfect :) overall it was nice.

the hotel has an iconic vintage feel to it. we had dinner at its restaurant sea lounge, with its cafe like menu. sea lounge is just by the waterfront, if you sit on the corner tables by the windows, you will be able to enjoy the view of the sea horizon. the restaurant has dim lights, which are apt for setting a romantic mood. the tea cake could have been better . overall, loved the food and the experience.

amazing.........went here for coffee with my mom......njoyed every moment.....staff is courteous....nice view......v ordered 1 sev puri and it was delicious... must visit place in mumbai

my wife and i have been visiting the sea lounge regularly since 1974. among other items, our staple order has always been the cafe viennois, a frothy ice creamy coffee concoction that is out of this world. incidentally, the price then was rs.8 (not a typo, really eight) and it is now rs.900 (excluding tax). till the last time we went, the quantity was substantial, served in a wide glass, like a brandy snifter without the stem. we went again today and it was quite a let down. not only was the quantity substantially reduced  a long narrow flute) but the texture was not like before. it tasted more like like coffee ice cream with nescafe sprinkled on top, rather than the delectable treat we had known and loved. if they've got a new dessert chef, he needs to look into the archives. disappointing.

so we have been planning for sometime to visit this cafe and i recently visited. the staff is so courteous. the hotel is so beautiful from inside.
we ordered cold coffee, falooda and taj house black coffee. the coffee was really good and we had a really great time there. the lighting theme of the cafe was amazing. they even have couple sitting near the windows, so you can enjoy some really nice views. they even have a live music but for that you need to visit in the evening.
the ambiance of the hotel is spectacular. the chandeliers are so beautiful. although the menu is a bit heavy on the pocket but it was a really nice experience. we loved it.

it was my birthday surprise by my fiance' and it was just awesome... the ambience, the food, amazing experience at taj palace... we had been there for brunch and i just loved it

this place is iconic to most mumbaiites. all of us have been there on several occasions and have so many good things to say about this place. recently, i revisited them for high tea and was shocked when i realised i hadn’t reviewed them as yet.

what i had?
mumbai toastie and rooibos tea

what i liked the most?
their taj hospitality is always so impeccable. i requested for gluten free bread. though it is not a part of their regular menu, they went out of the way to ensure they obtained it from their bakery.

pricing : ₹800 per head for high tea

what i thought?
this place is definitely worth revisiting again and again as it never disappoints.

good interior, good food, perfect for a romantic date i visited here with my friend as it was in my list from a long time ,awsome vew of sea .

i usually never give 5 stars to any place. but this was special. it was our first visit to mumbai, and taj was like a must visit landmark. the place can never be more iconic and as we walked in, we knew why it was so famous. everything about the place is special. it has that positive vibe you fall in love with. 

i loved everything about the place - the ambience, the food and the service. we were there for a special occasion, my husbands birthday. i requested for a birthday cake and the staff were very friendly. they even played a birthday song and sang along. the entire place wished him and it was heart warming. 

coming to the ambience, it is styled in a english way. loved their light theme. we were lucky to get the window table and could watch the gate way of india and the sea. 

the food was amazing. we loved every dish they had. as they were in small portions, we could taste them all. the masala tea at the end was like icing on the cake. i especially loved their desserts.

the ultimate .... be it the finest selection of teas or the delicate goodies or the bespoke service , not forgetting the ulta lux setting , perfect ambiance , the live music or the perfect harbour view . the finest tea lounge experience in the city and amongst the best in the country. a must visit for anyone visiting the city highly recommend .

1.  taj club sandwich  ( non veg)
2. kheema ghotala toasties 
3.hot chocolate cake

when you come here cost doesn't matter as its always worth it no matter how much you pay for it.
but for those planning to visit cost for two would be 4500-5000 depending upon the combination of starter, drink and main course

bestest place ever found for food, ambience, courteous staff. please visit this place once with your lovedone's and surely you will love it.

this is a superlative experience especially for those who don’t live in mumbai. i went to the sea lounge on an early sunday afternoon, already stuffed from a breakfast at a nearby parsi bakery. though i was feeling full, i decided to stretch my limits for this experience, and boy was it worth it!

the first thing about the sea lounge is the view. from the gateway of india to expanses of the arabian sea and the busy street below, the view alone makes a visit worth it. if you are lucky to get a table by the windows, you can actually experience a slice of royalty. sipping on tea and munching on food while the ‘normal people’ go about their lives just outside (said in jest).

i had the parsi chai and chili cheese toast, not having room for much else. both were excellent, and made better by the view and the place not being full at the time. the blue walls also add to the soothing ambiance, as does the good service.

i will reserve some space for a future visit, and a try of more food. till then, i’ve left behind a piece of my heart here.

absolutely love the vibe of this place and the tea collection is huge, which by the are all amazing. called for the sponge cake which could be a little more moist but a must visit for the view.
