good but they are talkitive.. sushi men insakuraare very talkitive. i dont know what language they are speaking, i am think japanese, they are talking and laughing. sensitive people like me i feel very offended.

food is amazing, servers are doing best. yet, sushi men. they have to learn how to speak quietly or not to talk at all.

sakura has been a staple for me and many others in hattiesburg for years. they have always been consistent and never let me down. you can certainly get cheaper sushi around here, but you get what you pay for. the miso soup is great, the miso salad dressing is wonderful. both are consistent in my experience.

i only ever get sushi and occasionally steamed gyoza.sakurais honestly some of the best sushi i have ever had excluding maybe one or two places around the country, but it is still close. i'm no sushi connoisseur, but i do know thatsakurais the place to go for sushi in hattiesburg.

the service is great. tommy was a wonderful waiter back in the day, and now we have danny. he is a young vietnamese guy who came here speaking no english. he supports his family with this waiting job and he is a damn good server, so take good care of him!

the food is great but.... i've hadsakuraa reseaonable amount of times, and i really enjoy the food. ... but that's not what i'm basing this review on. i'm basing this review on morality.

i have a friend that used to work there and they would tell me horrific stories. i don't want to go into too much detail but the owner/head chef treats some of his employees like garbage. forcing select employees to sign contracts that discriminate and signal them out. also the owner having racist, homophobic, antisemitic outbursts, as well as temper tantrums.

used to be my favorite..... now, not so much.sakuraused to be one of my favorite, if not the favorite, sushi places around, but after about a year of not going there, i was not impressed. i felt the quality of the food has gone down. i ordered the chicken teriyaki, and it said that it came with 'tempura vegetables'...it came with 2 pieces of tempura asparagus, an egg roll, and a friend hashbrown..you know, like you get at mcdonald's! not exactly what i was anticipating. also, there was only ginger ale or water as options for my 2 year old son. they should defintely look into a few more options.

unfortunately, i probably won't go back, and will continue to go to the sushi restaurant closer to my house. which is a shame, since i used to rave about them, and tell everyone to go there.

everything atsakurasushi was incredible. the spicy kani tempura, the goyza (not vegetarian or pescetarian), the cheektowaga roll, philadelphia roll, yellow tuna roll, coppa mascarpone, and dream bomba was all absolutely amazing and out of this world. this local restaurant week experience is exactly what i love about this event: i found an incredible place, tried some amazing food i wouldn’t normally order, and enjoyed every little thing about it! the ambiance is perfect, the service was amazing, the food was fantastic, and i found 8 vegetarian rolls to come back and try.

best sushi in hattiesburg. i have lived in hattiesburg for 19 years, but had never been tosakurauntil about a year ago. i will confess that previously i had never been a huge fan of sushi or sashimi, i didn't dislike, but i never had a craving for sushi. maybe i just pretended liked it because it was something relatively new to the south for most of my early years. recently, while back in town for a few weeks between semesters at um, my girlfriend and i were more or less forced into coming here by a friend, a friend to whom i now owe a thank you note. the food has been outstanding every single time. the soups taste fresh and homemade, a perfect combination of flavors that are perfect for beginning the meal. the sushi menu is extensive, and they have many options that are unfamiliar to the typical southerner, but the staff is knowledgeable and eager to guide you through the menu. my favorite is the sushi dinner, the salmon roe is powerfully flavorful and mouth-filling but not overwhelming. the white fish is simple and fresh, an excellent way to begin your foray into raw fish. the yellow tail is my personal favorite, but the entire selection is outstanding. the tempura is also a favorite, especially since they incorporate some uncommon vegetables such as japanese pumpkin (they have a small garden out back). a bit pricey, but well worth it. give it a try.

still our favorite. took in a late lunch with the wife at sakura. we had not been in a long time and i am not even sure why...but we made up for it today.sakurawas the first japanese restaurant in hattiesburg and it's still one of the best. the sushi and sashimi rolls are always fresh and well prepared. the tempura is consistent and done well. i've never had a disappointing meal at sukura and from what we had today, it's as good as ever.

by far the best sushi and japanese food in hattiesburg. there are tons of options here, but most of them are sub-par. in my opinion, sakurais the og. aside from the sushi, i'd highly recommend their sukiyaki. from what the staff has told me, it's only ordered very rarely, which is really unfortunate. it's absolutely fantastic. order it while sitting at the sushi bar on a cold day for the best experience. you won't regret it.

best sushi in toledo. we go tosakurafor the sushi (we're not big fans of hibachi) and we love it there. the sushi is fresh and always delicious. and if you want something that's not on the menu, just tell executive chef kengo what you like. he'll create something for you.

while some other reviewers talk about rude wait staff and mediocre sushi, we haven't experienced this at all. and we go there at least twice a month. sure, it gets crazy on half-off sushi nights (after 9:30 pm). but that's typically caused by rude, obnoxious customers overindulging on drinks because they're underpaying on dinner.

we've always found the food and staff to be fabulous. obviously, others agree. just try to get a seat on a thursday, friday or saturday night without a wait.

good salmon. i triedsakurafor the first time last night. it was too warm to sit outside and the dining room was very comfortable. i wasn't in the mood for sushi so i tried the salmon terriyaki which came with miso and a salad. the salmon was a very generous, thick filet and was cooked just right with a very nice, but not overwhelming terriyaki glaze. the service was very attentive and friendly. it was a great meal!

lunch. box..sakurais my favorite japanese place hands down. it might be one of those "it feels like home" sort of things, or the fact that it's where my husband and i first went out to eat together.... but it is my favorite.

i'm not living in hattiesburg right now, and my goodness, i miss sakura. sundays are made for one of their lunch boxes-- steamed gyoza and beef teriyaki... mmmm... glass of light plum wine. not to mention the sushi! the cindy roll is huge and ridiculous and delicious, and the dynamite roll is the stuff i dream of.

my family was one of the first customers atsakurayears ago. having spent a few years in nyc and being exposed to some of the finest sushi restuaruants in the world i was deathly afraid to try any sushi in buffalo. i wasn't even sure the restuaraunts here even knew what sushi grade fish even was. we noticed the sign before they opened for business and went for lunch opening day. while i'm sure they were poised to make a good impression at the start, since that time many repeat visits... and other local sushi restuaraunts later... i've still confirmed thatsakuramaintains a friendly, well priced, upbeat, pleasant and relaxing atmosphere with the absolute best sushi available anywhere in western new york. in food quality sakuri rivals many of the finer straight sushi (non japanese fusion) establishments in nyc. the staff provides excellent service. the hostess is worderful with kids, my son loves sakura.. and he was made to feel very special by the hostess and staff at his birthday dinner here. food suggestions would include the marvelous mango roll, thesakuraroll, and of course their addictive california rolls. i don't care how close or far away you are... if you want awesome sushisakuracannot be outdone. hands down, bar none, the best sushi place in western new york.

fake low sodium soy sauce. wow, i can't not belive how they make fake soy sauce.
one time i was at sakura, i asked for low sodium soy sauce and they told me that they only serve low sodium. gues what, its all fake. one time, i had to go to restroom, and by accident, i overlooked server area, and they were putting soda or water from soda machine to soy sauce bottle. so basically they water down soy sauce. i trustedsakuraand liked people, but from now on, i am not gonna even go to this place.
