seriously?!. i sat at the bar for a quick bite. i was ignored by the bartender until i finally asked if i could have a menu. she begrudgingly tossed one at me then went back to talking to her friends. i asked her how the saki was there... she replied "hot or cold" good to see that the staff is trained. at that point i should have left, but i had heard good things so i opted to stay. i decided to order a bowl of udon, being that i really like udon noodles. before i describe them let me mention i was given nothing to eat my food with, a person down the bar from me tossed me arollof utensils and a napkin. all this took place in front of the manager who was sitting at the bar drinking. the noodles themselves were what i'd expect, the rest... pretty bad. the broth had no flavor other than bell peppers which was about the only thing in there other than my noodles. there were a couple slices of uncooked mushrooms tossed in there. by far some of the worst udon i have ever had. the sushi i got was forgettable and possibly not so fresh. bad food and terrible service has assured i will not be returning here. i will stick with other smaller sushi places in the area.

first time here. it was my first time at this spot and it was pretty good. i had the sushi lunch that consisted of salmon, red tuna, white tuna, octopus, crab, and shrimp rolls. i ordered the cajunrollas well. service was ok due to a miscommunication of what i asked for and what was really ordered. i would come back

ate their for lunch on a weekday. not very impressed, mediocre at best compared to other sushi places in town. menu for lunch was not adjustable in any way for me to add to or take away. waiter seemed to be in a hurry to do other things than serve me. the californiarollwas tiny compared to most i've had and the sashimi was 90% rice..... their are better places to eat sushi in hattiesburg honestly.

first sushi place in town. this has always been my favorite place for sushi during college. i haven't been in about 6 months, so i got lunch there today. i can tell the quality has gone down some, but it was still overall good.
dynamiteroll- this was always the best, but today it was ok.
baked salmonroll- the flavor was good and the size was more than enough.
squid salad - very good!

fine dining? not really. i was surprised that urbanspoon lists this as $$$$ under fine dining; this is not fine dining; the food was good, our server was good; but it's not in the same ranks of some of the better establishments in toledo. don't get me wrong, our experience was excellent - our server was generous and very hospitable and the food came out quickly. our group expecially enjoyed the shrimp & vegitable tempura, clear mushroom soup, and the chicken hibachi. several also had sushi which was good, but maybe not great. but no complaints. the bar crowd when walking in looked a little rough; but it was a monday evening. our party would certainly go back, and although we sat at a table and not in front of the grill; the grill chef looked a little boring from other japanese steakhouses (nagoya). worth a try, and don't fret over the $$$$, the prices were reasonable...the sushi dinner was $20 and came with nine pieces of sushi, plus a california roll, soup and salad. arollcombo (choice of three rolls) was $17...i will say therollonly came with 4 pieces as opposed to 5-6 at other places.

not my favorite sushi place in hattiesburg. i went there for lunch on a weekday and the service was pretty slow because of the lunch rush. seems like they need to hire more help. i got a sushi and gyoza lunch box which comes with orange slices, a few veggies, a bowl of white rice and a choice of salad or miso soup. the californiarollwas just ok, they must have been low on crab because they doubled up on the avacado and there was hardly any crabmeat. gyoza dumplings were great though. overall this place is ok, i don't really get what all the hype is about, ambiance is lacking. lighting is way too dark! i have given it 2 or 3 tries and am just not impressed. i still prefer sake cafe for lunch box or little tokyo for sushi dinner.

my favorite restaurant ever. if you come here on half off sushi night expect a 45 min. wait..sorry,that is just the way it is!!! i promise if you order the dynamite sushirollit is worth the wait!! it is by far the best sushirollin town!!! i come here all the time, not only for hibachi, but also for lunch, just to sit in the beautiful tatami area (the only one i know of in toledo correct me if i am wrong) and to order a bento box(i like the beef teriyaki including soup salad and a california roll.) filled with yummy food. my boyfriend and i get a wonderful lunch here for only 42 dollars including tip and tax w/a dynamite roll. if you love japan, and want a little taste of it,come here, ask for the tatami area, order a bento w/ green tea....i promise if you live in toledo its the best you are going to get!!!!

lunch. box.. sakura is my favorite japanese place hands down. it might be one of those "it feels like home" sort of things, or the fact that it's where my husband and i first went out to eat together.... but it is my favorite.

i'm not living in hattiesburg right now, and my goodness, i miss sakura. sundays are made for one of their lunch boxes-- steamed gyoza and beef teriyaki... mmmm... glass of light plum wine. not to mention the sushi! the cindyrollis huge and ridiculous and delicious, and the dynamiterollis the stuff i dream of.
