marlowe's ribs & restaurant

we ordered a half slab of ribs and half a smoked chicken. theirsidesare standard fries and slaw and not much to write home about. the meat was very good. nice smoke line and fall off the bone. the sauce was the winner. after eating sauce all over this great nation i can say with absolute certainty that marlowe’s was the best tomato bbq sauce i have ever eaten. it was spicy and sweet and tangy. it has a nice tomato flavor but good seasoning too. it is perfectly rounded.

amazing!!. this was bar-none the best barbeque experience i've ever had. the food was plentiful, i had to take home half. the meat was tender and juicy, and thesideswere fantastic. i had the beef brisket, pulled pork, beans, cole slaw and corn fritters and the wife had the chicken and ribs (same sides). we split them and i can honestly say that every item was simply top-notch. what's more, the service was friendly and kind and the atmosphere was refreshing. forget graceland, this restaurant is a must-visit if you happen to be within a 100 mile radius. just kidding about the forget graceland, but make this a stop while here. enjoy!

great ribs. ate at marlowe's a few nights after eating at cvr downtown. found marlowe's ribs to be much more to our liking. the ribs were very meaty, had great smoked flavor, and were not slathered in extra rub or sauce. the two of us shared a rack of ribs and 4sides($23) and could not finish it all. the beans, okra, and mushroomsideswere good. the coleslaw was mediocre at best. we'll be back!

marlowe's ribs is very smart because they cater to the tourists. they will pick up guests at their hotel or campground in a pink limo and drive them to the restaurant. we saw that pink limo at our campground many times. we decided to drive ourselves to marlowe's on jeff's birthday. the restaurant is decorated with elvis items. there are televisions that play his concerts. i loved this painting.  it is by thomas kincaid. this is our table.  it was covered in elvis photos.  we started our meal with an appetizer.  it was the combination platter.  it consists of fried green tomatoes, fried pickles, corn fritters, and chicken tenders.  the appetizer was good.  i am not a fan of fried green tomatoes.  i ordered a half slab of ribs since they are known for their bbq.  mysideswere coleslaw and fries.  the bread was really good.  it is fried.  the coleslaw was creamy. the fries were good.  the ribs, i did not care for at all.  they definitely had a smokey taste, but i didn't care for the text

good. the pulled pork sandwich was good. the bbq'ed beef brisket was excellent. thesides( cole slaw and baked beans) were average. a good meal overall, but there are better to be had in this bbq mecca.

great place. this might be a sleeper... for all that you hear about other memphis restaurants i never hear much about marlowe's (i'm from out of state though). friends recommended marlowe's (across from graceland) and said they had the best ribs in memphis. they weren't kidding. they have great bbq (pork and ribs) and the fried catfish is awesome. greatsidestoo. love the elvis decor!

awesome ribs! the rub is the best i have tasted and just a little crunch to it. they put on just a little bbq sauce, but not much. the rub really stands on it's own. thesidesare really good too, especially the cole slaw. excellent service! highly recommend!
