marlowe's ribs & restaurant

we ordered a half slab of ribs and half a smoked chicken. their sides are standard fries and slaw and not much to write home about. the meat was very good. nice smoke line and fall off the bone. the sauce was the winner. after eating sauce all over this great nation i can say with absolute certainty that marlowe’s was the best tomato bbq sauce i have ever eaten. it was spicy and sweet and tangy. it has a nice tomato flavor butgoodseasoning too. it is perfectly rounded.

reallygoodfood had the four meats combo and it was delicious. glad i didn't listen to the negative reviews, it wasgoodand was perfect after visiting graceland!

marlowe’s succeeds in that it puts the food before the fact that it located only minutes from graceland. sure, you are inundated with all things elvis including a pink limo, but the commitment togoodfood is evident, highlighted by the very impressive smoker which “graces” the busy interior. the smoked meats were delicious even though they were heavily sauced in the traditional memphis “wet” style. like i mentioned, the b-sides made forgoodeating as well.

elvis burger...(kidapproved). my family and i decided on marlowes for my bday dinner and it was awesome. my 11 yr old fell in love with the elvis burger and overall the kids loved the elvis everything. i chose bbq combo 2 n the ribs were sooooogoodand meaty. the pulled pork was enough to pile on two huge buns....our sever brittany b was awesome. we're planning to return soon.

excellent service. erin was the best! ribs weregoodfull slab was very filling. bbq sandwich was awesome. baked beans and slaw were really good.goodplace to stop when passing thru town on a sunday night.

good. the pulled pork sandwich was good. the bbq'ed beef brisket was excellent. the sides ( cole slaw and baked beans) were average. agoodmeal overall, but there are better to be had in this bbq mecca.

not even worthy of an honorable mention.... eating the food here makes me wonder if the show diners drive ins and dives is just an advertising mechanism... i mean, i like to watch guy run through the restaurants, and i think you notice some keys when he really likes a place, but i just dont think its going to get a horrible review. i mean you might think it gets cut or whatever, but do you think it would happen after the crew rolls out to a new place, sets up the film crew and then the place is just a dud that we are going to hear him say that ? i haven't seen that happen , where guy says, uh no, this is really not very good... so i came here after googling the place and finding out the scoop or purported scoop. and i can tell you that i can make better bbq ribs than this place. service was nice and the catfish my at the time vegetarian son got was better than the ribs. portions weregoodall the way around, but who wantsgoodportions of sub par food ? i am not going back. i am curious about corkys and rendezvous... but i hear that locals tend to favor the likes of a & r... oh well, can't win them all...

great tourist restaurant!. i went there march '09 on a weekend trip with some friends to see graceland. we were on a budget, but wanted to have onegoodmeal at a bbq restaurant while we were in memphis.
great service! we called ahead and they had their pink cadillac pick us up to and from our hotel, free of charge!! (we tipped the driver, of course). the service and atmosphere was fun, elvis artifacts everywhere, including in the table. great food! we had fun!

thank you very much. in & out more bums on seats, servicegoodand friendly, food a bit disappointing, brisket was cold and a few days old, also a bit fatty like it was being held in a holding pen and not out of the smoker.

ribs, fall of the bone tender but the rub and the sauce uneventfull, sides, beans where over cooked and must have been simmering for days kinda mushy.

most upsetting was the screaming kids at 9:00pm and the parents ignoring the noise, didn't know if i was to tell the kids to shut up or the parents to deal with it for being so indifferant, maybe the kids didn't like elvis.

however not liking the place very much, coolest thing is the free ride to and from your hotel

unexpected monday night trip downtown resulted in agoodreason to go to marlowes. it was still busy from the elvis week festivities, but our server was able to present our barbecue sandwich and barbecue baked potato fairly quickly. the sauce isgood- sweet with a little bite. we both enjoyed the food and even the ancient elvis decor.

not great, not bad. overall decent meal, although by memphis standards this is a middle of the road meal. i'd say try rendezvous, pig on beale and a few others first. tried this on a recommendation from our hotel as it was close. it wasgoodonce. atmosphere was nice and the wait staff was good.

awesome ribs! the rub is the best i have tasted and just a little crunch to it. they put on just a little bbq sauce, but not much. the rub really stands on it's own. the sides are reallygoodtoo, especially the cole slaw. excellent service! highly recommend!
