marlowe's ribs & restaurant

amazing!!. this was bar-none the best barbeque experience i've ever had. thefoodwas plentiful, i had to take home half. the meat was tender and juicy, and the sides were fantastic. i had the beef brisket, pulled pork, beans, cole slaw and corn fritters and the wife had the chicken and ribs (same sides). we split them and i can honestly say that every item was simply top-notch. what's more, the service was friendly and kind and the atmosphere was refreshing. forget graceland, this restaurant is a must-visit if you happen to be within a 100 mile radius. just kidding about the forget graceland, but make this a stop while here. enjoy!

had the fried green tomatoes to start. big and thick and really good. my wife had the elvis burger and said it was great.

sure was more meat than the dyers burger that she didn’t enjoy a couple days ago. had the ribs and they were very good. well with the visit.

really goodfoodhad the four meats combo and it was delicious. glad i didn't listen to the negative reviews, it was good and was perfect after visiting graceland!

been here twice .... loves it so much the first time i came back, second experience made me never want to come back,foodtasted delicious until i scooted my tbone steak plate to the side and discoved two baby raoches where also having dinner with me and my fiancee, luckily the waitress was there to smash and kill them with her bare hands... then proceeded to hand me my bill in full amount after asking was the roches going to pay part of their bill they finally gave me 20% off ... this was my favorite part of memphis... i still tipped the waitress and left but i don't think i'll be headed back there on my next visit, i'll go 15 mins away to the bb king blues club downtown.

elvis stuff was cool, but i did not like the taste of the ribs and brisket. sides were ok. i grade it: ambience a+foodc

marlowe’s succeeds in that it puts thefoodbefore the fact that it located only minutes from graceland. sure, you are inundated with all things elvis including a pink limo, but the commitment to goodfoodis evident, highlighted by the very impressive smoker which “graces” the busy interior. the smoked meats were delicious even though they were heavily sauced in the traditional memphis “wet” style. like i mentioned, the b-sides made for good eating as well.

just ok. visited by guy fiera. beginning to think it best to stay from places he has been to. staff pleasant, pink limo fun,foodnothing special. won' t return. elvis singer much too loud, too.

not even worthy of an honorable mention.... eating thefoodhere makes me wonder if the show diners drive ins and dives is just an advertising mechanism... i mean, i like to watch guy run through the restaurants, and i think you notice some keys when he really likes a place, but i just dont think its going to get a horrible review. i mean you might think it gets cut or whatever, but do you think it would happen after the crew rolls out to a new place, sets up the film crew and then the place is just a dud that we are going to hear him say that ? i haven't seen that happen , where guy says, uh no, this is really not very good... so i came here after googling the place and finding out the scoop or purported scoop. and i can tell you that i can make better bbq ribs than this place. service was nice and the catfish my at the time vegetarian son got was better than the ribs. portions were good all the way around, but who wants good portions of sub parfood? i am not going back. i am curious about corkys and rendezvous... but i hear that locals tend to favor the likes of a & r... oh well, can't win them all...

all hype. delajode hit it spot on! staff was very friendly but thefoodwas disappointing. i didn't realize guy hit this place up until after we got there. i sat down and expected decadence but got despondence. the bbq was mediocre. i wasn't bad, just not national television good. the banana pudding was great though (but how can you muck that up). if you're looking for memphis bbq look elsewhere..unless you love elvis. actually, still look elsewhere, just hit up graceland on your way through.

awesome! the bbq chicken is my favorite.. the fried green tomatoes are obviously hand battered and delicious. the staff is wonderful and very friendly. not to mention they have a bar! what's not to love?! as for the bathroom, it was clean, just worn from usage. and if they are always as busy as they were this monday i can see why! overall greatfoodand atmosphere!

very disappointing. not sure if our expectations were set high due tofoodnetwork, but we were not impressed.
good: the staff. our waitress was very cheerful and helpful.
bad: the food! nothing tasted smoked at all. we had brisket, ribs, and pulled shoulder. the brisket by far was better than the others, and it wasn't that great. the shoulder seemed overcooked as it was mushy, and not very "pulled". the ribs were the most disappointing. they tasted like they were oven cooked instead of smoked on a pit.

reading the reviews and seeing guy on the show made us think we were in for a treat. it ended up a trick!

thank you very much. in & out more bums on seats, service good and friendly,fooda bit disappointing, brisket was cold and a few days old, also a bit fatty like it was being held in a holding pen and not out of the smoker.

ribs, fall of the bone tender but the rub and the sauce uneventfull, sides, beans where over cooked and must have been simmering for days kinda mushy.

most upsetting was the screaming kids at 9:00pm and the parents ignoring the noise, didn't know if i was to tell the kids to shut up or the parents to deal with it for being so indifferant, maybe the kids didn't like elvis.

however not liking the place very much, coolest thing is the free ride to and from your hotel

great atmosphere. fun location close to graceland with the pink caddys in the parking lot.foodis average. staff is excellent.

unexpected monday night trip downtown resulted in a good reason to go to marlowes. it was still busy from the elvis week festivities, but our server was able to present our barbecue sandwich and barbecue baked potato fairly quickly. the sauce is good - sweet with a little bite. we both enjoyed thefoodand even the ancient elvis decor.
