fabulous! always come on special occasions. last wednesday for my birthday . everything was perfect. best cheese plate in omaha, never a dud. had the egg gratin & paris ham and the hazelnut chocolate torte. a spanish garnacha rounded out the meal. we go more often on non- special event dates and are never disappointed

try it; you'll love it!. la buvette is our favorite restaurant in all of omaha. it's been well over a year since my first review of this restaurant. it's still the place we go most often; mostly for a late lunch. we usually start with the cheese plate and a bottle of wine. they serve up three different cheeses with their fresh homemade breads and creamy butter and a few fresh slices of onion, tomatoes and cucumber. they switch out the cheeses, so it's an interesting surprise every week. we could stop there, but the menu changes so we are always interested in new menu items. we are rarely disappointed. the duck cassoulet is outstanding. i'm hoping they'll bring back the braised oxtail soon. it is my alltimefavorite. we normally eat inside; smokers eat outside. we still get the outside feel because they open up the wall to the street. the waiters/waitresses are very knowledgeable of the menu items. the staff is small and works extraordinarily hard for their customers. if it's crowded, your service may be slow, but we are very okay with that. we are there for a leisurely meal and like to take our time.

suberp every time!. we lunched at this restaurant several times. every time, and i meant every time, the food is superb. we usually order the cheese plate which comes with glorious bread and creamy butter. we savor every bite with a nice robust red wine. we’ve had the trout, rabbit, duck, lamb,...all of it so wonderfully cooked and savory. no matter how crowded it is, one never feels rushed. we like that. so, don’t go to this restaurant and think you’ll be served in a hurry...not going to happen. rest, enjoy and savor your well cooked meals. the prices are reasonable and the service kind.

wonderful!. a dear friend recommended this quaint little bistro in old towne omaha so we decided to try it one saturday afternoon. we arrive around 1:00 and it was packed by 2:00. outdoor seating is available, but it was still a bit to cool for us. it is a wine and liquor store that also sells cheeses, breads, and deli stuff. we ordered a glass of wine each (served in small glasses) as we waited for our orders. you will not be rushed, which is what we like. we ordered the mixed meat plate for an appetizer and haricote vert with carpacio and braised oxtail with mashed parsnips. i think the bread is made in ovens in the basement…fabulous, served with fresh soft butter. we both loved the appetizer and our entrees. absolutely relaxing lunch. the oxtail is very rich and melts in your mouth.
just one warning…the restrooms are down a narrow stairwell and i almost tripped on a flattened box at the top of the stairs. it had slid out from where they stack their cardboard. it's a very old building so just watch your step!
we'll be going back!!!
