i visited la buvette for lunch and had a great experiece. the waiter was attentive but not hovering. i enjoyed their borscht, which was fresh and warm, and their la buvette salad, which also was fresh and perfectly lightly dressed. the breads served alongside were very good and a dry rose wine on the menu was a perfect accomapnimnet. along with the bistro is a deli that has a greatselectionof cheese, meats and wines.

every time i go here, i feel at home. the atmosphere is wonderful, the wineselectionis great, and the food always delivers. this time i had braised lentils with garlic sausage; it was simple and yummy!!

got it's pro's and cons. still the great atmosphere and wineselectionthat i have enjoyed over the last several years, but the service has completely went down hill (for the most part). i can do without the hipster attitudes that some of the staff have. overall, a great place to chill, people watch and get some fresh air while having a glass of wine.

the buve is the greatest secret in omaha. the wineselectionis fantastic and it is not marked up ridiculously. i love the service there an have only wonderful things to say about the knowledge and attitudes of the staff. this place is based off of the european style of relaxing and enjoying your time. the service is suppose to be slow paced and relaxed. do not go here and expect to hurry through a meal, that is not what this place is about.

fantastic, but.... my wife had some very bad mussels.

this is our first trip to omaha and i can't begin to say how impressed i am by la buvette and theselectionof restaurants in the old market. we started with the pate de campagne, which was delicious. studded with pistachios and served with grainy mustard and cornichons, this was a perfect start. our wine, which i picked from the store's shalves, was a wonderful spanish red from aragon.

my wife opted for the mussels and is paying the price for some bad ones. she did, however, enjoy them before they struck. i tried the ox tail, and found it the best since i'd last had it in spain.

the next time i'm in omaha, i'll be back at la buvette.

fantastic...if you can find a seat.. the wineselectionis vast, and the cheeseselectionis great as well. the steamed mussels are delish and require extra bread to soak up the juices at the end. i wouldn't rely on this to be your entire supper. it's better as a place to enjoy some wine and grab a snack with some friends. nice outdoor seating area as well.

abysmal service. i have been a lover of la buvette for some time; their wineselectionis stellar, and the service is often adequate, but my most recent visit was so atrocious that i cannot find myself going there again. my server was so rude and dismissive that another table got up and left without ordering food. we got our food and then were ignored for more than two hours. when i voiced my concerns to another employee (no managers were present), i was told that there was nothing wrong with my service--that this was, in effect, what should be expected. both employees i dealt with were hostilely unhelpful.

food is good - if you get it. while the atmosphere, food, and wineselectionare great it just isn't that great of a place. the service ruins it. such rude, lazy and incompetent staff. the owner is not much better. probably one of the most arrogent people i have ever met. doesn't care about customer service, just money. i personally don't see what is so great about this place or why people are willing to put up with such bad service. i gave this place several chances but it is just not that good.

today, i had drinks and some appetizers with friends. there are few positives that can't even help all of the negatives. the wineselectionis great, the atmosphere is enjoyable, and the food is decent. there is not enough space for my complaints. the service was absolutely disgraceful and embarrasing. a bottle of wine was broken on my friends coat and we hardly even recieved an apology. i was unimpressed to say the least, probably the worst service i have recieved in omaha.

fabulous. this place has the best atmosphere in town. i enjoy the fantastic food, which can sometimes be a bit exotic, but wonderful nonetheless. the wineselectionis neverending. it's best to go grab a bottle off the shelf here, and wait patiently for a server to come over. sit back, relax, and enjoy this old market treasure.
