terrible customer service. the staff at la buvette need serious attitude adjustments and customerservicetraining. when i called to see if they take reservations the woman who answered the phone said no and then proceeded to be curt, short and impatient answering even a single follow up question. then when i asked about the restaurant she told me to "go online." then when i said i had done that but still had questions, she said "well i don't know what to tell you" and then hung up.

wow, now i know where not to spend money, take corporate clients or make referrals!

feeling like smug and parisian we say for our first visit to la buvette. it's been on my list for a while and we wanted to sit outside to enjoy the wonderful weather today. the covered walkways of ye olde market made for a delightful, lazy, mid-afternoon lunch/snack.servicewas good when around. we asked for two glasses of dry red wine; the server on initiative brought out two different glasses so if one of us didn't like one, we could have the other which we felt was very thoughtful. i had beef tongue over mashed potatoes with caramelized onions and my guest had a cheese plate of cheddar, triple cream brie and another cheese all to our satisfaction. somehow the beef tongue was surprising, but still a texture i would expect of a tongue. the dishes came with bread baked daily. not bad. glad we went.

no other place like this. there is no other place like buvette in omaha. truly a gem...servicecan suck, be polite, be prepared to wait for service, but food and atmosphere compensate for all the flaws... sit back, relax and pretend you're a part of the bourgeoisie

worst experience i have had at a resturant. theservicewas very long the wait staff was rude and i observed people walking out with beer not concled ... i
will not be back even if this establishment is a party of the old market . i have many friends that have business in the old market and would not let there staff be disrespectful . and to top it off i told the two servers how i felt and they were rude to another level . sham on them . i hope the owners see this review because i don't believe this is how things or people are treated when they are there.

this is one of my all-time favorite places. in the summer, you will find me sitting on the patio enjoying some fresh bread and coffee. theservicewas good, the atmosphere is wonderful, and the food of course, is delicious.

fabulous! always come on special occasions. last wednesday for my birthday . everything was perfect. best cheese plate in omaha, never a dud. had the egg gratin & paris ham and the hazelnut chocolate torte. a spanish garnacha rounded out the meal. we go more often on non- special event dates and are never disappointed

try it; you'll love it!. la buvette is our favorite restaurant in all of omaha. it's been well over a year since my first review of this restaurant. it's still the place we go most often; mostly for a late lunch. we usually start with the cheese plate and a bottle of wine. they serve up three different cheeses with their fresh homemade breads and creamy butter and a few fresh slices of onion, tomatoes and cucumber. they switch out the cheeses, so it's an interesting surprise every week. we could stop there, but the menu changes so we are always interested in new menu items. we are rarely disappointed. the duck cassoulet is outstanding. i'm hoping they'll bring back the braised oxtail soon. it is my all time favorite. we normally eat inside; smokers eat outside. we still get the outside feel because they open up the wall to the street. the waiters/waitresses are very knowledgeable of the menu items. the staff is small and works extraordinarily hard for their customers. if it's crowded, yourservicemay be slow, but we are very okay with that. we are there for a leisurely meal and like to take our time.

suberp every time!. we lunched at this restaurant several times. every time, and i meant every time, the food is superb. we usually order the cheese plate which comes with glorious bread and creamy butter. we savor every bite with a nice robust red wine. we’ve had the trout, rabbit, duck, lamb,...all of it so wonderfully cooked and savory. no matter how crowded it is, one never feels rushed. we like that. so, don’t go to this restaurant and think you’ll be served in a hurry...not going to happen. rest, enjoy and savor your well cooked meals. the prices are reasonable and theservicekind.

wonderful!. a dear friend recommended this quaint little bistro in old towne omaha so we decided to try it one saturday afternoon. we arrive around 1:00 and it was packed by 2:00. outdoor seating is available, but it was still a bit to cool for us. it is a wine and liquor store that also sells cheeses, breads, and deli stuff. we ordered a glass of wine each (served in small glasses) as we waited for our orders. you will not be rushed, which is what we like. we ordered the mixed meat plate for an appetizer and haricote vert with carpacio and braised oxtail with mashed parsnips. i think the bread is made in ovens in the basement…fabulous, served with fresh soft butter. we both loved the appetizer and our entrees. absolutely relaxing lunch. the oxtail is very rich and melts in your mouth.
just one warning…the restrooms are down a narrow stairwell and i almost tripped on a flattened box at the top of the stairs. it had slid out from where they stack their cardboard. it's a very old building so just watch your step!
we'll be going back!!!

unbelievable stuck up wait staff. want a taste of badservice- go to la buvette. even when during the middle of the afternoon the waiters had time to chitchat with other customers and totally disregard waiting customers. all i wanted to do was give them my money. awful. awful. awful. i'll be sure to let my friends know all about my date at la bouvette. spend your money elsewhere.

awesome experience - not your typical quick in and out diner. this is not your typical american diner. i was warned that you come here to relax and enjoy people, not get a quick bite and leave and that sounded delightful so i came leisurely and still messed up ha.

the first time i went was a sunday afternoon, theservicewas not great. i was hungry and was interested in a menu! little did i know that they open in the mornings to serve coffee and a snack but don't actually make food until lunch!
i had brought a book and noticed several other people had come solo as well and were reading the paper and just writing things.

the second time i went was fantastic. theservicehere is hands off on purpose, i believe, but our waitress was attentive and very nice. they apologized that they brought us our food so soon, if i remember correctly, which was interesting. this is a great date spot of you have a leisurely night and just want to much on things and drink wine and have a nice night out. i will again warn you, do not come here and expect 11-worth cafe. they are simply different beasts. definitely recommend

horrible service. i have never been to an establishment where theservicewas so rude. the waitress acted annoyed the entire evening. when i went to pay the bill, she basically told me to hurry up because she had other customers. my jaw about hit the floor. it's very sad that such a lovely establishment has employees with such ugly behavior.

simple & lovely. i've been to la buvette twice now in the last month. both experiences were absolutely lovely. the interior is charming and cozy. you're surrounded by shelving full of an assortment of wines, whiskey etc. theservicehas been very pleasant and friendly both times. the menu is simple (i like that the daily menu is handwritten) the food has been nothing short of delicious both visits. my favorite so far is the open face toasted veggie sandwich with a wild greens salad. the prices are very reasonable. my entire meal (sandwich , salad & 2 glasses of wine was less than $20) house wines range from 5-7 dollars (though i've discovered it's less costly to buy one of the $10 bottles off the shelf if you've got company.) very pleased. i'll definitely be a returning patron.

great food, lousy lousy service. we were passing through omaha and found this place for my wife's birthday. the setting in town and interior ambiance is great. the food was excellent - real food prepared under high standards and authentic to my experience. however, theservicewas ridiculous. an angry midwestern girl left us sitting alone for 15 minutes (really, and we should have left but we were excited about the food, which must be why most people tolerate being treated so poorly), and by the time she came back to us - this is to bring us water, take a beverage order, and blow us off for another five minutes - the two main course meals were gone leaving us with salads and apps as our only choices. twenty five minutes after entering the building we ordered our apps. because the food was so good i care enough to write this - get real service, drop the pretension, and step up to a higher high.

got it's pro's and cons. still the great atmosphere and wine selection that i have enjoyed over the last several years, but theservicehas completely went down hill (for the most part). i can do without the hipster attitudes that some of the staff have. overall, a great place to chill, people watch and get some fresh air while having a glass of wine.
