great food : poor staff. positive: the food, as with all good egg restaurants, is amazing. the maple cruller is amazing...as well the fried green tomatoes.
negative: the system is poorly executed. it wants to be a ny delicatessen where you wait in line, when that didn't work they changed it to a traditional wait-to-be-seated establishment. the problem is the size wasn't made for that...really the turnaround for a table in a place as this should be under 45 minutes...which works when i've been there during the work week.
however, sunday brunch is a nightmare. it's the only place open downtown and the wait is painful and they're grossly understaffed. it's not designed for people to sit for over an hour. beyond that the hostess is rude and the waiter came by once in over 45 minutes. he forgot coffee and managed to upset everyone in our section. the couple setting next to us got a free donut out of the mistakes made to their order.
in short, it's a great concept and great food with incredibly poor execution. which is too bad. i would not go back on a sunday unless i had an hour and a half to just kill waiting on service.
