wow wow wow !!! ke is exceptional the food is truly high quality, we enjoyed every dish we ordered. they have a rooftop patio so it was amazing to sit outside and enjoy the fresh air and sun while eating some of the freshest and biggest pieces of sushi and sashimi i have ever had. we ordered an assortment of appetizers: gyoza and salads but phenomenal and full of flavour. in addition to rolls, sashimi and sushi pieces, all made amazing and full of flavour. we also tried some of the meat on sticks and really enjoyed thechickenthighs, pork belly and beef. beers are $5 the house beer and sapporo were both great. i can’t wait to go back and try more !! great spot for a group of people to share various dishes.

came here for the first time tonight. ordered the anugs beef roll, truffle shrimp tempura, calamari, chickenteriyaki and a few other things. what really stood out was the sushi rolls and shrimp tempura! everything was fresh, fast with friendly service. at the end they even gave a box of pocky chocolate with the bill! will be back soon!

the music at this place is a little weird it's super loud, they place some upbeat trance and pop then all of the sudden there will be some sappy asian love songs.
when i used eat carbs i would get thechickenskin yakatori, delicious with rice. lots of choices for yakatori. the pressed sushi is pretty good. lamb and beef dishes are great with the magic sauce. truffled shrimp is very good too.
the service sometimes is a little too attentive. like the boss is always watching so the waitress is constantly asking if everything is ok. how many times do i have to say yes? let people have a conversation and enjoy their meal.
my other issue is cooking a piece of meat on a stone. if it doesn't lay flat, or you try to cook the sides part of the meat doesn't really cook thoroughly. interesting gimmick but not very safe.

this is our go to spot for nice rolls and yakitori. have been to charcoal on a few separate occasions and never been disappointed. they have a variety of yakitori available for dinner includingchickenand beef which are very tasty and affordable. rolls are fresh and inventive and last time we tried the seafood udon, very flavourful indeed. definitely worth checking out!

open concept kitchen, great detail and functional interior, friendly staff, loved it.  it is a modern sushi bar where the tables provide enough privacy to take a date for intimate dinner, and yet open enough to interact with anyone if you happen to see friends and such.

staff is super friendly, with great suggestions and knowledgeable about what the menu offers and portions.

food is top notch, with things like lobster miso soup, and lobster rolls, how can you not feel like you are pampering your stomach?  thechickenkarage by the way was one of the best i've had in the city.  done right!

if you want to meet the owner, put a friendly request in and the chef in the open kitchen will come out to say hi!  turns out the owner is literally the hands in making your food.  you don't get to see this kind of accountability often, so we are gladly returning and suggesting that you give it a shot!

such a cute little place. love the interior and the open kitchen concept.

they have yakitori special only from 6-10pm and $5 all day sapporo. since they specialized in bbq we ordered more of the grilled stuff. they were all pretty decent. the yakitoris we started off with 2 of each to share amongst 4 of us. some of our fave was thechickengizzards, beef tongue, pork belly, truffle shrimp and corn on a cob. the sushi were only ok, nothing stuck out.

overall, a good variety and the quality and flavours were fulfilling. service was good and we was easy to find street parking. but, a bit pricey.

i think my experience for this restaurant was mixed, just like the focus of the food from this place. overall it was decent, the decor was interesting mix of chinese and japanese themed.

the stone grill was kinda a knockoff of grizzly house in banff, not as flavourful, the pressed sushi fell apart, normally a gelatin is used but they just put liquid sauce, causing the rice to fall apart. thechickenand beef charcoal grill was ok, portion and value was decent but the only good taste was the sesame sauce it came with.

i enjoyed the deep fried mochi, but if a thicker teriyaki sauce was used would definitely taste better, masking the taste of unsettled deep fryer oil.

i think they also do other dishes but i think there's no theme or direction with the restaurant, especially when siracha bottles are part of the decor.

the entrance is hard to spot and parking was difficult to locate. overall if i was to go back... i'd probably not go back as just like all the chinese take out places, this place is trying to cover too many dishes, and feed you by volume, for a higher price.

absolutely delicious food. i had two of the oshi sushi offerings- this is pressed sushi and a decent value as each order comprises four pieces. i had the wild salmon, which came with a fantastic spicy miso topping, and a spicy tuna with spicy mayo. both were stunning. even more delectable was thechickenkaraage, which is made with de-bonedchickenleg, not thigh as is more common, and it was just perfect, with a gorgeous spicy mayo on the side. next to marra's way sushi in canmore, this is the bestchickenkaraage i've ever had in canada outside of vancouver- i could have eaten four orders of this one, just spectacular. the last and most expensive thing i ordered was the miso black cod from the grilled side of the menu. it was melt in your mouth fantastic with a dollop of japanese kewpie mayo on the side.

ke has things not often seen on japanese menus in calgary- it's not the bargain of nami across the street but it's a different sort of experience. i loved every bite of my dinner and as a bankviewite can see myself coming back here all the time. a blessing after months and months of delays in its opening and, cliched as it sounds, it was worth the wait.
