prime rib with a bone at hillstone

this is a beautiful restaurant. nice ambiance. we were quickly seated andserviceis fast and efficient. the menu selections offer something for every taste whether you are a meat lover, fish or poultry lover or vegan! our party of 4 ordered fish, poultry salad and the prime rib. every entree and all sides were plentiful and delicious. the only surprising thing was that the prime rib did have a bone as advertised and that's ok... except it was a thick cut and there was a lot of bone and fat. better in my view to have a leaner cut without the bone and fat. less is more especially when you can then consume the whole cut of meat. otherwise an excellent dining experience. plan to spend about 30 to 40 dollars per person.

the mayan calendar was correct, it was like the end of the world on friday december 21, 2012 when i walked into hillstone after driving in from santa fe like i have for for 20 years my first stop for some amazing food and terrificserviceand banter from the bartender jodee. she was no where to be found. after some questioning we discovered she no longer works there, what a disappointment. the wind had been let out of my sails and theserviceat the bar disappointing. it took forever to be attended to theservicewas appalling. there were more people behind the bar than i have ever scene and still theservicewas dismal, slow and inattentive. nothing like i remember from previous visits. food is still excellent, customerservicewas in the weeds.

my artic char (grilled) with spaghetti squash was excellent. loved the smoked salmon appetizer.servicewas great. patio is comfortable and inviting. i plan to eat there again soon

this place is great! theserviceis okay, but the food is phenomenal. i f you are going there for the first time order the french dip with fries or coleslaw(both are great), and if you are getting an appetizer order the spinach and artichoke dip it is the best.

excellentserviceand delicious food. thai beef salad and rotisserie chicken were excellent. their beef dip will now be the one that all future versions will be judged by. freshly roasted and thinly sliced prime rib piled on a house baked roll - outstanding.

the architecture and interior is elegant and comfortable.

great ambiance. the food was excellent. i had the center cut filet. cook perfectly. theservicewas outstanding. i'd definitely revisit if and when i get back to phoenix. i absolutely loved the layout in the place. very modern and upscale.

houstons has moved across the street and has renamed themselves hilstone. same great food andservicewith the addition of sushi to their menu. still my favorite restaurant in town! keep serving it up!!!!
