the mayan calendar was correct, it was like the end of the world on friday december 21, 2012 when i walked into hillstone after driving in from santa fe like i have for for 20 years my first stop for some amazing food and terrific service and banter from the bartender jodee. she was no where to be found. after some questioning we discovered she no longer works there, what a disappointment. the wind had been let out of my sails and the service at thebardisappointing. it took forever to be attended to the service was appalling. there were more people behind thebarthan i have ever scene and still the service was dismal, slow and inattentive. nothing like i remember from previous visits. food is still excellent, customer service was in the weeds.

new menu. phoenix, az ... new menu so not healthy. my husband and i are several times a week regulars which is about to change. all healthy sandwich options are gone and we just can't do fried. also, the lack of the miso dressing on the ahi tuna salad makes it not a choice either. it's just plain blah. we'll be there for lunch because we love thebarstaff (jodi, heather, jill and courtney) but it will probably be just for cocktails.

fantastic!. this restaurant just bleeds class. my husband and i went with another couple and we were all satisfied with our meals. i had the ahi tuna salad (flying tuna i think it was called?) and it was delicious. my husband and friend had the swordfish special and that was cooked perfectly and the veggie mix was amazing. my friend's husband had their ribs and they were so tender and literally fall off the bone. i would definitely go back and recommend it. thebaris a great 'hang out' also. 2 thumbs up!

good ribeye. i've had the ribeye with terriyaki sauce for lunch before and for dinner as well. it was of a decent size and cooked medium-rare as i requested it. the prices are a bit high given the portion sizes but such is to be expected from a steak house.

it's a nice place to take business clients and the outdoor seating is very pleasant in the evening when the sun is down. thebaris plenty big for an after-work group up area.

always a delicious meal. i love how consistent houston's restaurants are, you always get a top notch version of whatever you order.
the sushibarfor me is a cherry on the cake, because the grade of fish used in their simple sushi menu items is excellent, and you have to give props to a steakhouse which delivers excellent raw fish items as well.
the servers are always incredibly, i am a difficult ordered, i tend to make changes to my entrees to suit my preference, and they always, always get them all just right.
the filet is a consistent stunner, lean and cooked to perfection every single time.
and the apple cobbler may be one of the most exquisite and simple combination of flavor's out there, warm, with spiced pecans and vanilla ice cream it explodes in your mouth with both sophistication and comfort.

i've never been disappointed. the houston's restaurant at the hilton village in scottsdale gets my heartiest compliments. whether it's a quick lunch at thebaror a full blown sit down dinner, i've always left feeling satisfied. the baby back pork ribs have been sampled twenty times. these fall off the bone ribs are sensational. the side dishes are large in quantity and tasty. if you have room, the hot fudge sundae will be the final topping. servers are also knowledgeable, prompt and polite. this is a great spot!

the two male bartenders have been there forever and make great drinks. food is ordinary but consistent. the crowd at thebaris very interesting.
