great ingredients. i went to grab a bite for dinner on sunday night as i'm in town for business. the wait was well over an hour for a table, so i went to the end of the bar and ordered a 12" fun guy pizza (a bunch of different types of mushrooms and red onions). the service was excellent. the brick oven pizza came quickly even though they were slammed, and the crust, ingredients, and pizza were great. i would definitely recommend this place to eat. it looked like they had a decent bar as well. the pizza was a tad pricey ($18) but far, far superior to the chain pizza that people somehow eat.

good food, poor service. the food is good, but the service was terrible. i don't think i'll be back... we went for a birthday celebration. the check was brought to us without asking if we wanted dessert, when we asked for a dessert menu our waitress appear annoyed (probably since she already printed the check on the assumption that we didn't want dessert) and barked that there were donuts and brownie. then she continued to pick up our dishes while in a "huff"- lots of noise, more than if you were to calmly pick up a dish. we were completely shocked at our treatment from our waitress and it put a damper on the birthday celebration, especially since the birthday girl was excited about coming to hearth. i have never had service like this before in my life!

disappointed. the service was poor, waiter refused to make simple accommodations, had to ask for water multiple times. management seems to be lacking as food varied, brussel sproust were good but the rest of table fare was average. rest room was not the cleanest.

gone downhill. hearth sure has gone downhill. mediocre food, poor service and dingy atmosphere add up to a disappointing experience.

my family went tonight. gotta say i wasn't impressed! we aren't drinkers and don't care about their wine or beer menu so just know that this is based on the food not what they have to drink. as far as the pizza goes....you can do better at cici's or pizza hut or papa johns. wish i could say otherwise....not a fan :-(

service & attitude issue. first, hearth's pizza is not like real ny style pizza. putting aside their blather about organic this, and fresh that, their pizza is better than the mediocre fare usually served in atlanta.

they have an odd way of cutting their pizza into rectangular sections, which speaks to the fact that their pizza is not real ny style. we have been there several times and have learned to request the pizza be cut into standard triangular slices. this seems to be a challenge for hearth, even though their check prints out "triangular cuts" as the customer request. on several visits our request had been ignored and the pizza brought out anyway.

the problem is we would make it abundantly clear when we ordered that we wanted triangular cut slices - a request even most junior high graduates could grasp - but they'd still bring it out sliced in rectangles. again. it must be requested often enough that their computer prints out "triangular cut" on the check.

the last time they did this we requested the cook/server take the pizza back and bring one sliced as we requested. he refused. no apology, just telling us, "that's the way we cut it." the waitress didn't seem to care either. hungry, we ate the pizza.

when the waitress brought the check we gave her the option of having the manager take $3.00 off the check (in other words, we'd pay for the food but not for their profit margin for refusing to serve what we ordered) or we'd simply not leave a tip. the waitress took the check back. a minute later another young man brought the check back without the reduction, dropped it on the table without comment, and left.

as promsied, we paid the check without a tip.

the check states "your comments and suggestions are greatly appreciated." we went to their website and filled out their form. but when we pushed the "submit" button it returned an error message.

their check also offers 5% off if you "like" them on facebook. i wonder if that accounts for the many overly effusive reviews. their pizza is good, better than the mediocre pizza served around atlanta, but not great.

there are better local alternatives for pizza: blue moon on glenridge dr or il forno on roswell rd. we never had the staff at either have an attitude if they got an order wrong. like most respectable establishments, if they made an error they accept it and fix it.

hearth pizza tavern has an excellent selection of appetizers, pizzas, salads, sandwiches and burgers. too bad that i couldn’t try more items off the menu!

how come nobody ever told me how insanely delicious the brussels sprouts at hearth pizza tavern are? i met a friend for lunch and was immediately intrigued by the brussels sprouts appetizer with parmesan and a balsamic port reduction. hearth pizza serves theirs with pancetta, but because i was dining with a vegetarian, we asked them to serve it sans pork. i don’t know how they taste with pancetta, but i didn’t miss it at all.

now that's a pizza!. i stopped in for lunch to see what this place was all about. somehow it had managed to stay under my radar, even though it's just a couple exits down from my office. i'm definitely glad i finally happened upon hearth.
the decor is really nice; exposed brick walls, lots of dark wood, very nice bar, not-to-dim lighting. the service was very friendly and helpful. he told us what the most popular items on the menu were, but then told us his personal favorites as well, which i like.
i decided to go with one of the daily special pizzas and chose the fall river classic. it's topped with chili oil, hearth's signature cheese blend, sauteed kale, gulf shrimp, clams, homemade portuguese chorizo, red onion and cilantro. this is one tasty pie! i personally find that "seafood" pizzas tend to be disappointing, but this one was superb! it may very well be one of the best pizzas i've ever had. the thin crust was nice and crispy, but not burnt. the chili oil added a slight touch of heat, while the clams and shrimp were very fresh tasting. the chorizo was very tasty and added its own bit of heat as well. every topping was discernible on the palate and wasn't lost among the others.
if the other pizzas are made with this same amount of quality and attention to detail as this one, then i can easily see this place becoming one of my favorites. as for now, based off of one (amazingly good) pizza, i definitely recommend hearth.

my boyfriend and i went there on sunday night. the wait staff was very knowledgable about the things they were serving, most of which was locally grown or made. we each had our own small pizza mine was 'the coup de'ville and my boyfriends was 'mass pike.' both were equally delicious! we'd definitely be regulars if we lived in atlanta.

wish i had a place like this at home. hearth was a second choice after our first lunch destination was closed. next time we come to atlanta, hearth will not take second place. we were immediately curious when we saw one of the specials was a brussels sprout appetizer. it was delicious, fresh, cheesy, and bacon-y thanks to the pancetta. i'm not sure its on the menu all the time, so snatch them when they have them. the ring of fire pizza was yummy, not overwhelmingly spicy, but i also picked off a few jalapenos near the end. i love a crunchy crust with a bit of chew, and hearth delivered on that. in a city of heavy southern cooking, hearth was a wonderful light lunch for two.
