great place. great food.. don't let the strip mall setting throw you - this place is a find. thefoodis fresh, fresh, fresh. and the pizza - the pizza is something you'll crave - it will draw you back!

the pizza dough is the perfect - thin, but not a cracker - it's just right to support the uber-fresh topping options. you can create your own or select from their combinations.

highly recommend the tavern chopped salad

don't forget to check the special sheet! the other night they had a delicious broccoli starter and a pizza called a pug (caramelized onions, butternut squash, pistachios, and white cheeses - yum).

good pizza, relaxed atmosphere. went to hearth pizza tavern with my wife after the prado beer fest. had previously driven by many times and have never been there.

showed up at about 6:30 or so and asked for a table outside. we were seated right away out on the deck. our server ashley was very cordial and attentive. the menu had a nice selection of across the board options. along with the pizza selection, there was a good array of appetizers, salads, sandwiches, etc. i asked ashley for her recommendation between the 2 pizzas i was considering. she happily gave me her opinion.

i went with her suggestion, the great white clam, a white pizza with clams, romano cheese, fennel sausage, roasted cremini mushrooms, dried oregano, and parsley.

my wife went with what was listed as the staff pick (the cob), which had marinara sauce, roasted corn, roasted cherry tomatoes, goat cheese and fresh basil.

of course we had to taste each others pizza. both had good texture and good flavor. the cob was very refreshing and the great white clam was like having a good italian pasta dish without the pasta. we both enjoyed the crispy crust on each.

overall we both liked the hearth pizza tavern. the atmosphere was welcoming and relaxed. that coupled with the tastyfoodwill make a return visit highly probable.

good food, poor service. thefoodis good, but the service was terrible. i don't think i'll be back... we went for a birthday celebration. the check was brought to us without asking if we wanted dessert, when we asked for a dessert menu our waitress appear annoyed (probably since she already printed the check on the assumption that we didn't want dessert) and barked that there were donuts and brownie. then she continued to pick up our dishes while in a "huff"- lots of noise, more than if you were to calmly pick up a dish. we were completely shocked at our treatment from our waitress and it put a damper on the birthday celebration, especially since the birthday girl was excited about coming to hearth. i have never had service like this before in my life!

disappointed. the service was poor, waiter refused to make simple accommodations, had to ask for water multiple times. management seems to be lacking asfoodvaried, brussel sproust were good but the rest of table fare was average. rest room was not the cleanest.

my family went tonight. gotta say i wasn't impressed! we aren't drinkers and don't care about their wine or beer menu so just know that this is based on thefoodnot what they have to drink. as far as the pizza goes....you can do better at cici's or pizza hut or papa johns. wish i could say otherwise....not a fan :-(

service & attitude issue. first, hearth's pizza is not like real ny style pizza. putting aside their blather about organic this, and fresh that, their pizza is better than the mediocre fare usually served in atlanta.

they have an odd way of cutting their pizza into rectangular sections, which speaks to the fact that their pizza is not real ny style. we have been there several times and have learned to request the pizza be cut into standard triangular slices. this seems to be a challenge for hearth, even though their check prints out "triangular cuts" as the customer request. on several visits our request had been ignored and the pizza brought out anyway.

the problem is we would make it abundantly clear when we ordered that we wanted triangular cut slices - a request even most junior high graduates could grasp - but they'd still bring it out sliced in rectangles. again. it must be requested often enough that their computer prints out "triangular cut" on the check.

the last time they did this we requested the cook/server take the pizza back and bring one sliced as we requested. he refused. no apology, just telling us, "that's the way we cut it." the waitress didn't seem to care either. hungry, we ate the pizza.

when the waitress brought the check we gave her the option of having the manager take $3.00 off the check (in other words, we'd pay for thefoodbut not for their profit margin for refusing to serve what we ordered) or we'd simply not leave a tip. the waitress took the check back. a minute later another young man brought the check back without the reduction, dropped it on the table without comment, and left.

as promsied, we paid the check without a tip.

the check states "your comments and suggestions are greatly appreciated." we went to their website and filled out their form. but when we pushed the "submit" button it returned an error message.

their check also offers 5% off if you "like" them on facebook. i wonder if that accounts for the many overly effusive reviews. their pizza is good, better than the mediocre pizza served around atlanta, but not great.

there are better local alternatives for pizza: blue moon on glenridge dr or il forno on roswell rd. we never had the staff at either have an attitude if they got an order wrong. like most respectable establishments, if they made an error they accept it and fix it.

what makes a "favorite" restaurant?. my husband and i live in sandy springs, and we've been going to hearth since it opened. i can only say great things. thefoodis delicious, the atmosphere is convivial and fun, and the people who work there are extremely nice. sometimes my husband and i talk about how to define one's "favorite" restaurant. is it the fanciest, most impressive haute-cuisine restaurant you've ever been to? or is it the place you find yourself wanting to go again and again-on your best day or your worst-because you feel comforted, warmed, and cheered by the experience and meal? and we decide that between those 2 definitions, there's no contest. hearth wins the title of "our favorite restaurant" every time.

thefoodwas excellent. the seating is limited, so you better get there early. the only complaint that i had was that there was too much garlic on my simply white pizza. there where several garlic bits per bite. this is just my personal taste; however, if you are not a huge garlic fan, you might want to watch out.

great food, great bar. ok, i have to admit, i'm biased. i lived in dunwoody for four years, and felt like we needed something on the chill side of sophisticated for sooo long. great pizza, not too heavy or greasy (i have heard the first few weeks, it was a bit greasy, but i've never seen that), huge, yummy salads and one of those great long bars. i had one of the special pizzas - with roasted eggplant and an arugala salad on top. thefoodwas both comfortable and innovative, i had a great glass of wine and good service. i'm waiting for the weather to warm up to do have a cocktail and a salad on that porch.

average greasy food. during my first visit i had the traditional cheese and it was ok but it had about 1 pound of grease on myfoodand 1 pound of flour on my pizza crust i would go there only once a year and the staff needs to clean up their act and treat the customers with more respect and stop eating on the job
