good pizza, relaxed atmosphere. went to hearth pizza tavern with my wife after the prado beer fest. had previously driven by many times and have never been there.

showed up at about 6:30 or so and asked for a table outside. we were seated right away out on the deck. our server ashley was very cordial and attentive. the menu had a nice selection of across the board options. along with the pizza selection, there was a good array of appetizers, salads, sandwiches, etc. i asked ashley for her recommendation between the 2 pizzas i was considering. she happily gave me her opinion.

i went with her suggestion, the great white clam, a white pizza with clams, romano cheese, fennel sausage, roasted cremini mushrooms, dried oregano, and parsley.

my wife went with what was listed as the staff pick (the cob), which had marinara sauce, roasted corn, roasted cherry tomatoes, goat cheese andfreshbasil.

of course we had to taste each others pizza. both had good texture and good flavor. the cob was very refreshing and the great white clam was like having a good italian pasta dish without the pasta. we both enjoyed the crispy crust on each.

overall we both liked the hearth pizza tavern. the atmosphere was welcoming and relaxed. that coupled with the tasty food will make a return visit highly probable.

hearth has some really awesome neapolitan pizza usingfreshingredients and home-cured meats. this is perhaps my favorite pizza place outside the perimeter - they do a fantastic job. i'm also a big fan of the arugula salad.

went for lunch after a few people mentioned it as a great spot in sandy springs. i have to agree. shared the crispy brussels sprouts (fresh sprouts, pancetta and shallots-- balsamic reduction-- amazing!) and a fun guy pizza (three kinds of mushrooms, spinach). pizza was delicious. thin, crispy crust. superfreshand high quality ingredients. highly recommended!

hearth is a simple yet delicious pizzaria  in the whole foods shopping center in sandy springs. my readers know i am not a pizza lover or even someone that eats is more than 3-4x per year.  hearth is changing my mind about that.  the menu does feature some tasty sandwiches and salads but the pizza of course is the star attraction, with good reason.  let me not fail to mention a substantial bar and beer menu. the crust is unique to a non conniseur like myself.  glossey, chewey bubbly perfection. i ordered the white clam that is additionally adorned with fennel sausage and mushrooms. it's drizzled with a garlicky olive oil and sprinkles offreshmince of parsley. light and incredibly balanced and flavorful. i want it again and again. this may be pizza from heaven to a  pizza disliker that is yours truly. the chicken club is hearty and flavorful yet still simple in its satisfaction abilities. chicken is moist and tender. proscuitto is the bacon and it works like an italian charm. arugul

service & attitude issue. first, hearth's pizza is not like real ny style pizza. putting aside their blather about organic this, andfreshthat, their pizza is better than the mediocre fare usually served in atlanta.

they have an odd way of cutting their pizza into rectangular sections, which speaks to the fact that their pizza is not real ny style. we have been there several times and have learned to request the pizza be cut into standard triangular slices. this seems to be a challenge for hearth, even though their check prints out "triangular cuts" as the customer request. on several visits our request had been ignored and the pizza brought out anyway.

the problem is we would make it abundantly clear when we ordered that we wanted triangular cut slices - a request even most junior high graduates could grasp - but they'd still bring it out sliced in rectangles. again. it must be requested often enough that their computer prints out "triangular cut" on the check.

the last time they did this we requested the cook/server take the pizza back and bring one sliced as we requested. he refused. no apology, just telling us, "that's the way we cut it." the waitress didn't seem to care either. hungry, we ate the pizza.

when the waitress brought the check we gave her the option of having the manager take $3.00 off the check (in other words, we'd pay for the food but not for their profit margin for refusing to serve what we ordered) or we'd simply not leave a tip. the waitress took the check back. a minute later another young man brought the check back without the reduction, dropped it on the table without comment, and left.

as promsied, we paid the check without a tip.

the check states "your comments and suggestions are greatly appreciated." we went to their website and filled out their form. but when we pushed the "submit" button it returned an error message.

their check also offers 5% off if you "like" them on facebook. i wonder if that accounts for the many overly effusive reviews. their pizza is good, better than the mediocre pizza served around atlanta, but not great.

there are better local alternatives for pizza: blue moon on glenridge dr or il forno on roswell rd. we never had the staff at either have an attitude if they got an order wrong. like most respectable establishments, if they made an error they accept it and fix it.

now that's a pizza!. i stopped in for lunch to see what this place was all about. somehow it had managed to stay under my radar, even though it's just a couple exits down from my office. i'm definitely glad i finally happened upon hearth.
the decor is really nice; exposed brick walls, lots of dark wood, very nice bar, not-to-dim lighting. the service was very friendly and helpful. he told us what the most popular items on the menu were, but then told us his personal favorites as well, which i like.
i decided to go with one of the daily special pizzas and chose the fall river classic. it's topped with chili oil, hearth's signature cheese blend, sauteed kale, gulf shrimp, clams, homemade portuguese chorizo, red onion and cilantro. this is one tasty pie! i personally find that "seafood" pizzas tend to be disappointing, but this one was superb! it may very well be one of the best pizzas i've ever had. the thin crust was nice and crispy, but not burnt. the chili oil added a slight touch of heat, while the clams and shrimp were veryfreshtasting. the chorizo was very tasty and added its own bit of heat as well. every topping was discernible on the palate and wasn't lost among the others.
if the other pizzas are made with this same amount of quality and attention to detail as this one, then i can easily see this place becoming one of my favorites. as for now, based off of one (amazingly good) pizza, i definitely recommend hearth.

jennifer and i had lunch at hearth pizza. it's in the whole foods shopping center on always-crowded roswell road. the atmosphere is upscale casual. the decor is rich, dark woods. the bar is central to the space and it has its share of tv screens but they aren't too obtrusive. the walls sport photos of some of the most famous new york pizza venues. we started with salads and some meatballs. the meatballs were rich and moist and the tomato sauce was of thefreshvariety, populated by small chunks of tomato. we then followed with a pizza. beware, their pizzas are fairly small. their larger size was just enough for both of us. the pizza was ok but not, in my humble view, entirely worthy of the surroundings. the crust didn't have the chewy/crusty combination that is the essence of new york pizza. we also found the service to be a little spotty; we generally had to ask for help rather than being checked on. overall, come here for the atmosphere, not the food.

best pizza in town, and then some. i recently went to hearth pizza tavern for the first time, and i had a completely delightful experience. the service was friendly and attentive, the mozzarella & tomato salad was the best i've ever had, and the queen's right pizza was absolutely scrumptious. veryfreshingredients all around.

i also thought the decor of the restaurant was very tasteful and conducive to enjoying a good meal.

a+. i will be back, and i will bring friends.
