hearth pizza tavern

good pizza, relaxed atmosphere. went to hearth pizza tavern with my wife after the prado beer fest. had previously driven by many times and have never been there.

showed up at about 6:30 or so and asked for a table outside. we were seated right away out on the deck. our server ashley was very cordial and attentive. the menu had a nice selection of across the board options. along with the pizza selection, there was agoodarray of appetizers, salads, sandwiches, etc. i asked ashley for her recommendation between the 2 pizzas i was considering. she happily gave me her opinion.

i went with her suggestion, the great white clam, a white pizza with clams, romano cheese, fennel sausage, roasted cremini mushrooms, dried oregano, and parsley.

my wife went with what was listed as the staff pick (the cob), which had marinara sauce, roasted corn, roasted cherry tomatoes, goat cheese and fresh basil.

of course we had to taste each others pizza. both hadgoodtexture andgoodflavor. the cob was very refreshing and the great white clam was like having agooditalian pasta dish without the pasta. we both enjoyed the crispy crust on each.

overall we both liked the hearth pizza tavern. the atmosphere was welcoming and relaxed. that coupled with the tasty food will make a return visit highly probable.

great pizza. thanks to urbanspoon, i found this place. arrived at 5:30p on sunday. restaurant was 1/2 full and i sat at bar.
ordered a beer (terrapin mosaic red ale) & the house meatball pizza.

pizza arrived in record time and was amazing. meatballs hadgoodflavor. the small pie was perfect size.

6p & place is filling up. i'll be back with friends .

took my family of 4 here tonight. service was stellar. our waiter had great knowledge of the menu and how food was prepared. the food was very verygoodtoo! we

  hearth is a simple yet delicious pizzaria  in the whole foods shopping center in sandy springs. my readers know i am not a pizza lover or even someone that eats is more than 3-4x per year.  hearth is changing my mind about that.  the menu does feature some tasty sandwiches and salads but the pizza of course is the star attraction, withgoodreason.  let me not fail to mention a substantial bar and beer menu. the crust is unique to a non conniseur like myself.  glossey, chewey bubbly perfection. i ordered the white clam that is additionally adorned with fennel sausage and mushrooms. it's drizzled with a garlicky olive oil and sprinkles of fresh mince of parsley. light and incredibly balanced and flavorful. i want it again and again. this may be pizza from heaven to a  pizza disliker that is yours truly. the chicken club is hearty and flavorful yet still simple in its satisfaction abilities. chicken is moist and tender. proscuitto is the bacon and it works like an italian charm. arugul

disappointed. the service was poor, waiter refused to make simple accommodations, had to ask for water multiple times. management seems to be lacking as food varied, brussel sproust weregoodbut the rest of table fare was average. rest room was not the cleanest.

good food, rude owner. agoodfriend of mine is a regular patron of hearth. in fact, she tells everyone she knows to eat there. she recently made a reservation to celebrate her 75th birthday at hearth. the gm was gracious and very accomodating when he took the reservation. she called back yesterday to confirm the reservation and spoke with the owner, dave pazienza. mr. pazienza told her he would not honor the reservation because it is the policy of hearth not to accept reservations on a saturday. she explained the occasion and explained that she cannot stand without a cane only to be told she would have to "figure it out" on her own whether she stood or sat while she waited. i am appalled that the owner of any restaurant would treat any patron this way, especially one of the loyal diners who helped make his restaurant a sandy springs success story. needless to say, we will never eat at hearth again. it is sad how a rude owner can be the undoing of such agoodrestaurant.

didn't get to eat!!. we went there tonight hoping for agoodexperience. unfortunately, we left before we even got our food. after waiting for 15-20 minutes for a seat, we were seated at the end of a table at the rear of the restaurant. we realized very quickly that the seats were freezing. when we asked our waiter about this, he said that it was because they kept a door open nearby, and the cold air blows in (it's january!). when we said that we didn't want to sit there and freeze, he said he would take care of it. so we got up and headed to the bar to wait for a table to open up. after seeing several people get seated, we went to the hostess and asked about seating us. we were told that we were not even on the list, and if we wanted to get back on the list we would be put at the end of the list, because we were given a seat already (regardless of whether one could tolerate the open door nearby). apparently, the lesson here is that you get punished for getting stuck in a horrible seat and requesting to move. the attitude of the host and hostess was clearly one of "we don't care if you're in a bad seat and don't ask us to move." we quickly left the restaurant, concluding that other restaurants would welcome our dollars.

ps: on a positive note, we called the manager/owner after we returned home. he was apologetic and told us that the treatment we received was not their policy, and that he hoped we would come back on the house.

like it? more like loved it! i had the mass pike daily special pizza and my mom had the white pizza (see attached photo). both were excellent. mine had pink sauce, sausage, capicola, cremini mushrooms, and sun dried tomatoes and it had an amazing taste. my mom's white pizza was sogoodand loaded with garlic. definitely coming back!!

you must try this place. we wanted to try out this place since it receivedgoodreviews and we were very happy with our decision! the pizza is fresh, tastes wonderful and is very nicely priced! its one of the most flavorful pizza's we've had! forget california pizza kitchen, we will be going back to try each of their pizza's. the meatball pizza was a definite winner. you must try if you are in the sandy springs area. drinks are very inexpensive as well. the bar is fun and the environment is great!

good appetizers,goodtoppings for pizzas which have more of an american fluffy and crispy crust. kids loved the wings and mussels. service was excellent, amazed they had bell's oberon beer-quite a find. nice atmosphere, creative food, excellent service. recommend without reservations.

great food, great bar. ok, i have to admit, i'm biased. i lived in dunwoody for four years, and felt like we needed something on the chill side of sophisticated for sooo long. great pizza, not too heavy or greasy (i have heard the first few weeks, it was a bit greasy, but i've never seen that), huge, yummy salads and one of those great long bars. i had one of the special pizzas - with roasted eggplant and an arugala salad on top. the food was both comfortable and innovative, i had a great glass of wine andgoodservice. i'm waiting for the weather to warm up to do have a cocktail and a salad on that porch.

best pizza in town, and then some. i recently went to hearth pizza tavern for the first time, and i had a completely delightful experience. the service was friendly and attentive, the mozzarella & tomato salad was the best i've ever had, and the queen's right pizza was absolutely scrumptious. very fresh ingredients all around.

i also thought the decor of the restaurant was very tasteful and conducive to enjoying agoodmeal.
