great japanese noodles. i came across this place in sunny bank and it was definitely a unique japanese soup experience. i was in my cravings for unprocessed noodles with real meat and this soup definitely meets the quality standards. the pork cuts on top of the soup were tender and soft and added a nice texture and flavor to the spicy soup. the soup was good but a little pricey at $12 for a large soup. a few blocks down here is my favorite japanese soup stop mapen.

delicious ramen!! the broth is perfect - so light and tasty and the meat was incredibly tender. it's a simple little noodle bar so expect no frills service as you may have to wait in line a little to order as they are constantly moving and cooking but it's absolutely worth it. can't wait to go back.

a mate introduced this to me recently at sunny bank,it is amazing. i drive 20minutes to the indooroopilly probably every second day as it's so moorish. the city store is way too hectic, i wish they would make another store around kelvin grove area. be prepared to line up also. still its worth it, go for the karaka men

i'm going to tart by saying, in my opinion "best ramen in brisbane". i have never had a bad meal here (i guess there are only a couple of options) but the ramen has a depth and flavour that is to die for. gyoza are moist and crispy. i will try and eat here at least once a week. recommend #4 on the menu. make sure to ask for the bonus bowl of noodles when you dine in (free when dining in)

it's stupid how you can only ask for extra noodles once the first bowl of noodles is given to you. so, this is how it works, order noodles, once they put the noodles in front of you, you can ask for extra noodles. but you can't ask for extra noodles when you make the initial order. if i know i'm going to have extra noodles anyway, why do i have to wait when i get my first bowl of noodles. it doesn't make any sense. the japanese are the hardest nationalities do deal with.

dinner time. hakataya is a place i always like, though the line may be long, it is worth the wait. i especially like having number 3 menu at $11.50, it sure is a great deal added with the free kaydama makes it worth while. the staff are very friendly and always have smiles. the employment of just japanese staff makes you really have that authentic japanese noodle bar setting. great place, but do try to be in small group of 2-4, or else it may be difficult to sit together. 5/5

terrible service. having frequented hakataya ramen over the years, i had an exceedingly disappointing experience today and thought i would share. it was a very hot day, and my elderly mother and i were next in line to be served, as we had waited for a while my mother went to sit down. the waitress then proceeded to tell my mother off for not ordering before sitting down in an extremely irritated tone. as my mother's english wasn't fantastic she apparently didn't move quickly enough for the waitress' liking and when she next sauntered over she raised her voice several notches and fairly shrieked "order first before you sit down. when i later sought to address her manner of speaking to my elderly mother with her, she smirked and complained to the chef in japanese. she did not acknowledge my comments nor did she volunteer any excuse for her behavior. when our food was bought to us i noticed that the chef had given both of us one piece less of pork than the standard issue. this is such a trivial event, however the discourteous manner in which we were treated and the subsequent pettiness has left a rather lasting impression on me and going forward i will definitely not be visiting this business.

not as good as it was. must have eaten at hakataya literally a couple of hundred times over the past few years from way back when they only had that one store in the gold coast. but i find that their standards have dropped compared to what it was over the past half a year.

found the shio spicy ramen (my personal favourite) lacking a little in taste and having a little too much oil the last couple times i was there. the service is also not like its use to but that is somewhat understandable given how popular they've become and how busy they often are during peak hours. no longer eat at hakataya as much as i used to but due to the lack of competition, they still offers when of the best ramen here in brisbane when they do get everything right.

back here again to celebrate a special event for the both of us.. came here around dinner time and yes, there was a queue, so we ended up having to wait for awhile since their seats are always limited.. we also couldn't be bothered to drive out to market square or walk there to see how hakataya was over there, so we just decided to stay and waited till there were empty seats for us... we ended up sitting inside which was a good place to sit as i could see how they cook and make each of their ramen as it was ordered one by one..

the soup is not as flavourful as what i am used to having back in singapore but it is still delicious. the highlight for me has to be the slices of char siu. soft, tender, melt in your mouth texture that has so much flavour despite it being wafer thin. the noodles are yummy, and who can resist the best thing about eating at a ramen house - complimentary kaedama! sure it fills you up lots but it is so good you cannot say no!
